It was a good show last night.

The triple threat ladder match was a great opener with some brutal looking bumps, Sami Zayn handcuffing Jeff Hardy's earlobe to the ladder was both weird and genius at the same time. Sami becoming official IC champion was one of only two title changes all night, Drew Gulak and R-Truth's 24/7 title mess around was the other.

Ambulance match was a lot of fun, having some of Orton's previous 'victims' come back to exact revenge was pretty cool but I think the whole match damages Orton and his heel run, I mean were does it go from here?!

The main event for the Universal title was fantastic, it told a great story and Roman is an amazing heel, match of the night for me.

Rest of the show was mostly filler really, but having Sasha attack Bayley from behind was great and maybe is the start of their build for a potential match at Wrestlemania.

Upcoming draft is set for October 9th on Smackdown and the 12th for Raw.

It was a shame that Shayna, Nia and Nikki missed the show, its been wildly reported that it was due to positive Covid tests, from what I understand they may have come into contact with people who have tested positive and its just WWE taking precautions. Also they may have know about this on Friday but made changes late in the day yesterday, they put on a good show last night given he circumstances.
 
They might shut down Orton's heel run for a while until Edge comes back.
 
Raw was pretty good last night.

Robert Roode returned to face Drew McIntyre for the WWE title after Drew issued an open challenge in the main event, Drew obviously won.

Asuka faced Zelina Vega for the Raw women's title in a re-match from COC, it went much the same as the previous match with Vega doing pretty well but inevitably taping out to the Asuka Lock, there was also a triple threat match for the 24/7 title with R-Truth retaining against Tozawa and Gulak.

More drama with the Mysterio's, Seth revealed that Murphy and Aaliyah had been exchanging messages and then an incensed Dominik faced off against Murphy and was going to us a Kendo stick until Aaliyah came out to stop him and she then slapped him.

Mandy Rose debuted with Dana Brooke and the beat Lana and Natalya.

Aleister Black and Kevin Owens had a great match, they have changed Black's theme music.

Big Show, Christian, Shawn Michaels and Ric Flair opened the show to congratulate Drew on his win over Orton at COC, during the show we saw that the four legends were playing poker in the back, Orton then attacked them but they way he did it was pretty stupid, he dressed up as a janitor to gain access to the room they were in, then he used night-vision googles and turned off the lights and attacked them with a chair.

Retribution members have been quarantined because of Corona fears so they weren't on the show last night but they show a video package about them, there was also no Raw Underground.
 


For the third time :(. At this point I'd be seriously contemplating calling it on in-ring time.
 
A lot happened on Smackdown last night.

Started of with Roman Reigns being crowned 'tribal chief' but Roman called out Jey Uso saying that it was his brother that called him the chief and not Jey, Jey came out and said that Roman was the better man on Sunday but he didn't break his spirit, Roman said he was embarrassed in Jey not representing the family properly and offered him another shot at the title at HIAC and Jey accepted, AJ Styles came out and insulted Jey and they had a match which Jey won.

Kevin Owens popped over to the blue brand for the KO show with Alexa Bliss as his special guest, Alexa seemed brain-washed and when Kevin challenged her on her relationship with the Fiend Alexa said 'let him in' and the Fiend showed up to put the claw on Kevin, Fiend then took Alexa by the hand and Alexa just stared at him trance-like, Bray Wyatt will be on the KO show on Raw and Owens will face The Fiend on SD next week.

Sasha Banks challenged Bayley to a women's title match next week.

Main event was an IC title match between Sami Zayn and Jeff Hardy, Zayn won but cheated to win after he exposed the ring turnbuckle before the match and Jeff smacked into it head first, Ref weirdly didn't DQ Sami, good match though.

Next weeks Smackdown has the first night of the draft, plus Falls Count Anywhere match between Big E and Sheamus, Owens/Fiend and potentially a women's title match.

Great show last night, match of the night for me was easily Balor v O'Reilly in the main event which was just a War with both guys going for it, Balor retained but O'Reilly proved that he belongs in the main event, Balor went to hospital after the show for a scan on his jaw and was bleeding from the mouth at the end of the match, Melzer reported that the match ended early because of that, O'Reilly was bleeding from the mouth mid-way through the match too.

Elsewhere no titles changed hands but some great matches, Also Ember Moon has returned from injury and will be back on NXT and Toni Storm is back too.

And as mentioned yesterday they have turned the PC into a smaller version of the Thunder Dome with the lights and the video link screens for fans, plus the pumped in crowd noise. It does look a lot better and its called the 'Capitol Wrestling Center' which is in tribute to Vince Snr who promoted his very first show at the CWC in Pennsylvania.
 
Mustapha Ali was unveiled as the leader of Retribution on Raw last night.

In truth, I'm diddling about waiting for the G1 to end before doing a proper watchthrough/introduction type deal, haven't been paying more than tangential attention to New Japan lately. Also, side note to a project I'm toying with: have I posted Bobo Brazil's son wrestling a bad Jake Roberts knockoff in a hilariously bland match?

 
Meh. Good match overall but the wrong person won. This could have been a great opportunity to set Lee up as a monster, which admittedly, he already is. Now, it looks like he only beat Cody the first time because he was taking time off.
 
NXT haven't had the best luck with injuries lately, first it was Karrion Kross with his separated shoulder, then it was Tegan Nox with another torn ACL, and at the recent TakeOver Finn Balor fractured his jaw in two places during his title defense against Kyle O'Reilly, there is now word on whether he will relinquish the NXT title or not.

And then last night Ridge Holland was in a match with Danny Burch which he won but afterwards when he attacked Burch his tag partner Oney Lorcan came out to help, Holland caught Lorcan when Lorcan flew out of the ring and Holland's left leg buckled and he needed to be stretchered out, so that's another injury for NXT.

This Smackdown was messed up (in a good way).

Sad that they're splitting up The New Day right after being the 9x Tag Champs together. That is a very impressive number, I don't know any other team that has that many.

Lars Sullivan is back surprisingly and will be on the Draft Monday. I honestly forgot he was still around, I thought he was one of the unfortunates from Black Wednesday.

I am super glad that the Mysterios are on Smackdown now. They were really the only thing that I watched on RAW.

As for Rollins, wonder what they would do with him with Reigns around...

What a night for New Day! First Big E beats Sheamus in a brutal Falls Count Anywhere match, then Xavier and Kofi return and its announced that they will face Cesaro and Nakamura for the tag titles, they win said titles and then right after its announced that Big E will stay on Smackdown with Xavier and Kofi moving to Raw, therefore splitting them up!

The Universal title match between Roman and Jey Uso inside Hell In A Cell is now and I Quit match.

I'd wager that Jay White gets the A block, but White-Suzuki is gonna be the decider. On the B-side, I think Naito wins out, possibly screws EVIL during the Sanada match, but I can also see both EVIL and Naito losing out with ZSJ and Sanada possibly having a tiebreaker match. At this point Goto's just a distraction.
 
Hmm, haven't thought about my ideal finals much. Too soon to run Okada/Naito at Wrestle Kingdom for a fourth time, Ibushi making it to the finals three years running would be something fun and not done since Antonio Inoki back when the tournament ran under the MSG League banner, made the finals four years running from 1978-1981, won all four (v.s Andre the Giant, v.s Stan Hansen three times). Don't see Naito advancing owing to Yano being next on the schedule.

With that in mind, Ibushi/Goto is my call on the finals, Ibushi wins his second G1 in a row (which would be the first time since 2003 and 2004 with Hiroyoshi Tenzan).

Somehow, I feel that both brands changed a lot and didn't change a thing at the same time.
 
Both tag champs swapped brands so they swapped titles last night, Woods and Kingston are now Raw tag champs and Street Profits are now SD tag champs, Woods and Kingston successfully defended the Raw titles against Ziggler/Roode.

Elias is back after he attacked Jeff Hardy with a guitar during the triple threat match he had with Rollins and Styles.

Lana won the battle royal so she is now number one contender to Asuka's title, she eliminated her friend Natalya who lost a tooth during the match.

Heard the A block results from Cultaholic... Interesting way for that side to end. I imagine I'll be completely wrong about B block as well.
 
Smackdown last night then.

Reigns retained the Universal title after a decent match with Braun Strowman, Reigns used a submission to win and then attacked Braun with a chair after, Jey Uso came out which led to a stand-off between the two until Jey came after Roman with a chair, the whole segment was great.

There was a contract signing for the women's title HIAC match between Bayley and Sasha, Sasha started by saying a few home truths and insults to Bayley and Bayley left without signing, the best line from Sasha was 'my name is Sasha Banks and my name is bigger than that title'.

New Day had a farewell match against Sheamus, Cesaro and Nakamura, they gave some emotional promos before the match, they were together for six years and have won and been through a lot, argubly one of the best faction WWE have had and its sad to see them split up, hopefully they get back together one day.

Daniel Bryan made his first Thunder Dome appearance and gave a promo until Rollins came out and asked him not to stand in his way for the 'greater good' and there was a little brawl between to the two, the Mysterio's and Murphy came out and Murphy offered his hand to the Mysterio's to shake but the walked away.

There were new opening titles for the shows following the draft featuring some of the people who have been drafted over including Seth Rollins and Bianca Belair and there were some legends and famous faces watching on in the Thunder Dome including Mark Henry, Goldberg, Keith Lee, Brie and Birdie Bella (during the Bryan bit obviously) and Ric Flair.
 
Season Premiere of Raw tonight.

Asuka v Lana for the Women's title, Bray with his first Firefly Funhouse on Raw, Keith Lee v Braun Strowman and Elias with a concert.
