There was a thread for this movie already, BB. :D

As for "Doom", I've never played the game. I hear it's good though, especially the Xbox one. I am a sucker for Sci Fi and horror flicks, so I'll see it, but probably on DVD. :)

I'll see it in theaters simply because it's a video game turned movie, and I love video games. :dopey: I hope The Rock is good for the part. I'm kind of expecting a movie similar to those of the Resident Evil series for some reason.

Resident Evil:Apocolypse was not scary, but this does.
Scary, Resident Evil was not. I just think it'll be the same style, and this "Elite Unit" looks just like the "Elite Unit" from Resident Evil 1. Minus Milla Jovovich. Sorry.

I loved the first RE. It was flawless(IMO ;)) until they brought in the "licker" monster at the end. I thought the monster looked silly and fake. RE: Apocalypse, was bad all around(fact :D), but again, the monster made it worse.

As I've said earlier, I never got to play Doom, but it involves monters, right? I hope they can do it better in this film than Resident Evil Series.

I've never played Doom either, but I think I can safely say it's about a portal to hell being opened. So it involves monsters/demons/zombies and any other evil creature you can imagine. Hold the flaming all you Doom fanboys.

Resident Evil rocked. Both of them.

Yes, a Doom movie! This'll be interesting, and by the looks of it some of it will be in first-person. This'll make it even more interesting. :)

What's that..'cake'? :D
Well I've looked at the trailer and it could be alright..but the trailer is a little misleading I think. I would'nt think much of the film would be using the first person view, it just looks good in the trailer. Saying that they have made the film look like the game (monsters included).
But films like these tend to rarely deliver what they promise. And though it says at the end of the trailer 'All hell breaks loose' that might be a hell without the pentagrams you see in the game. Supposedly they were considered too Satanic to be in the film...apparantly.

Some links - IMDB and pentagram info

Looks intriguing, especially as I played the original game to death on the PS1 nearly 10 years ago.

The Rock will do fine, he's been.. above average every time I've seen him on film, but I'm a bit of a Rock fan, so maybe I have rose tinted specs. He's at least as good as Arnie though.

I am looking forward to this movie since I have been a huge Doom fan. Especially Doom 3 on the x-box. As stated above the Rock does a good job as an actor so this could be promising.

Not in the slightest, neither could/can act that well but Arnie had far, far more screen presence than The Rock does. That said, I wouldn't rule out The Rock doing a decent Terminator role if he gets picked for th next Terminator film.

What's a bit more misleading is that The Rock isn't even the main character. He just plays the Sergeant.

But I did read that the HellKnights are near perfect, being that they will be nothing but people in very big costumes.

I agree. I can't wait until another action star of Schwazenegger's caliber pops up, but I doubt it will happen anytime soon. Rock seems promising, but from what I've seen, not even close. Maybe Eddie was comparing the the "has been Arnold"(T3, Collateral Damage, End of Days) to current Rock(The Rundown, etc.)?

Anderton Prime
Looks like absolute crap. I'm talking worse than Super Mario Bros. The Movie. Worse than Double Dragon The Movie!!
That's......... pretty.......... bad.............. Are you sure about this statement? Anderton? :scared:

Saw the preview today, looks like it could be decent...I'll try to go see it.

I'd just like to get this straight, for the record: comparing the Rock's and Arnie's acting talent is like comparing the culinary merits of baked beans and spaghetti hoops.... And much as I like Boeuf Bourgignon, I eat baked beans more often.... :)

The Resident Evil movies are great, The 1st one i truelly love. The 2nd one ok it is rubbish, but its highly entertaining rubbish & Milla is so lovely.

Doom isnt oging to be anything special, but im sure it will pretty entertaining, as long as they dont make it a PG13 it should be fine.

Arnie vs The rock. The rock is a far better actor, what films has Arnie done that proves he can actually act?? Ok neither has The Rock really, but at least he tries different things.

I think it will be ****.
I agree. I think the cast is garbage too. :(
I'll probably still see it, I became a big doom fan after beating DOOM3 on PC and Xbox. :)

I just call 'em the way I see 'em. This looks like a ripoff of Aliens and Predator (they've even used a soundbyte of the noise the Predator makes), with a little Resident Evil and Jason X thrown in. I love the Rock, so I'll see it for him, but come on. What about that part in the trailer where all the soldiers get their guns and we learn their "Handle IDs?" Wow, cool names like Destroyer and The Kid. That sounds like something I would have come up with in Grade 6.

The first-person perspective thing is innovative, but that's about it. I've often been curious to see if this would work in a movie, and now that I've seen the trailer, I know the answer. Work it does not.

And of course we have the CG monsters, the darkly-lit sets, and the token black guys that are sure to die before the credits role. Add to that some heavy metal crap music to the trailer and you've got yourself a cookie-cutter movie that appears to be so formulaic you might as well stay home, take a dump, and watch it float around in the toilet bowl instead.

Hey, why not do both? Double your entertainment... :)

Holy crap. First of all, you have to recognize that Rock and Schwarzenegger are special breed of actors(if you can call them that). They are "Action Heroes". Arnie: Conan, Terminator, Commando, Predator, Total Recall, T2, True Lies. Someday, when Rock comes close to matching one of those blockbusters, I'd be impressed. :D

I honestly thought the first person who compared The Rock to Arnold was going to get flamed. I don't think they are even close. Arnie is an action legend, The Rock hasn't done anything yet to prove he can even be in the same league. As an actor, neither is great, but Schwarzenegger was the ultimate action hero. Besides, I don't think anything The Rock does will compare to Terminator I and II.

EDIT - Sorry a6m5, I didn't read all of your post. :dopey:

Saleen Man
...but Schwarzenegger was the ultimate action hero...

Well, actually, he isn't. Harrison Ford is.

Think about it: Arnie's career, as amazing as it has been, doesn't quite compare to Ford's credentials, I would say. Han Solo, Indiana Jones, Jack Ryan, and Richard Kimball are all monumental action-movie characters, and there have been others, of course.

I can't find any data on it, but years ago I read that Ford was the all-time box-office champ, with his movies grossing more than any other actor.

Besides, Ford really is an actor. Arnie's an ex-bodybuilder.

I read/heard that, too. Very good point, but I don't think Harrison Ford flicks are comparable to Schwazenegger flicks. I love Arnold to death, but his movies are dumb, blow'em ups. He's a different type of "action hero" than Harrison IMO.
