Not quite sure which sticks have gone up certain people's asses today in discord over pricing. It looks pretty self explanatory to me.
Indeed, sadly it's the same people every time, and I do include myself in that, I'm not shy from speaking my mind.

I don't mind if people have issues, everyone's entitled to an opinion, I find it frustrating when people argue a point without reason or logic and just shut everyone else down, even when being presented with logic and reason. It seems once people have an opinion of EA, they just ram it down everyone's throats at any given opportunity and won't listen to reason.

The powers that be have stepped in, non verbally.

Yeah. Seems like a non-event to me, but there does seem to be a handful of names who just love to whinge and moan.

There is some good chat on there, but it is a shame that the Discord hasn't quite got the same atmosphere as the old CM forum. Not that there weren't negative posts on there, but they never seemed as disruptive to the conversation.

@MagpieRacer ahead of the curve on this one

Every time I see a refence to Rally GB

It really does look like the Mid Wales forest stages around Pant Mawr/Llanidloes Etc

I think that's due to the inherent nature of what a Discord is.

It's designed for more immediate conversation rather than long-form responses like we have here.

In hindsight it's better that we moved people to Discord a few years ago, as the Codemasters forum is dead (RIP).

As always I'm open on suggestions to make the Discord a better place. I made a few changes in recent months (both to channel structure and also more direct moderating of a few problematic people) that seemed to help but more work is needed. The focused discussion areas (like Weekly Power Stage) tend to be quite good, it's the general channel that attracts all the drama.

So long as the game has things people deem worthy of complaining about though, there'll always be a hint of negativity (and since "EA exists" is often a thing taped the end of a pitchfork, there's an inevitability to it all), but we'll manage what we can.

Hopefully the EA SPORTS WRC 24 Season Expansion Bundle releases without a hitch next week, I want to drive that Yaris and beat some Skodas.

Yeah, I agree: exactly as you say it's presentation definitely seems to be focused more on immediate chat rather than archive conversation. I tend to look at the "side" chats more than the main conversation thread, as that can be very difficult to catch up with if you have been away for a few days!

Definitely good that a chunk of the CM forum community moved over to Discord before that was shut down though, so at least some of the old faces are still in the mix.

I'm a member of the Discord but not an active user. I find no matter how good and reactive servers Admins are some Discord servers are just too large to have something like we do here.

Looks good! Really looking forward to these stages. I seem to gel a bit better with the faster rallies (Estonia, Finland etc), and loved Poland in DR2.0, so fingers crossed these are fun to drive!

I didn't like the look of those blind Latvian bends and am gonna need a bit of practice on those, I think.

The aesthetic is very similar across these two and Estonia, but that’s not Codemasters’ fault and I’m sure they’ve thought about the need to make them all feel a bit different. Blame the FIA!

They look like they drive differently to each other from the video. From Jon's commentary it sounds like drivers will be able to tell whether they're in Latvia or Poland judging by the roadside ditches and track width.

They look the same. Very bad mixed calendar.
Sort of expected really, but they're different enough that they can easily be identified. At least the 2025 calendar has some genuinely different offerings.

For sure, road surfaces look different enough and I think it's quite easy to tell the countries apart.

Looking forward to Latvia, like the look of the sweeping nature of the versus the more stop start Poland. Poland, unsurprisingly, looks like it has a similar nature to the DR2.0 stages with the straights and junctions, plus the Tarmac sections. I think the DR2.0 stages are only a few KM away from these ones so that makes sense really.

Yes, in the game they are good. It’s the official calendar that has too many similar rallies and no wales Australia or Argentina.

The only one bad one in the game is finland. The gravel doesn’t look like the real one not even the colour.

Agreed, Finland needs to be a lot more white/grey.

Paraguay, Gran Canary and Saudi Arabia to come next season.

Any news on additional tweaks to the game?

I have read of random stages/ weather in career seasons.

Additional trophies?

Unsure yet, there's been some rumours but nothing concrete. We'll hopefully find out Monday/early Tuesday when the patch notes arrive.

Thought I would compare the 2 Subaru Impreza WRC '98 models from Gran Turismo 7 and EA WRC. As exxpected, the Polyphony Model has a lot more detail, but, the Codemasters model still looks excellent in comparison. Yes I could have made more effort to match the lighting, I just chose Sardegna in clear conditions for each game.

Also thought it would be fun to compare the sounds.

@PJTierney is it advisable to install the patch before installing the expansion?
The patch will likely have the content within it and the expansion will just enable it. So i imagine it would be advised to install the patch first.

Game likely won't start without the patch anyway if connected to the Internet.

That’s probably the safest way to do it, though I don’t think there’s a significant risk the other way round. Most games contain all the content in patches anyway, regardless of DLC ownership, then the DLC download is just a small entitlement file that tells the game to unlock stuff for you.

That being said, if you manage to launch the game while owning DLC that is not installed (I don’t know if it’s even possible), it might throw up some errors as the game tries to find files that don’t exist in your machine.

The DLC isn’t going to disappear from stores the hour after it’s released, so you can wait to buy 🙂

Looks fun, but without knowing more about the next DLC content unless I've missed something the £25 bundle including those is a bit much for me atm, having not being playing as much as I was planning, compared to the original game price anyway/current alternative spending options. Hopefully it goes on sale when I get back into it, and maybe if it goes on GamePass soon those who get the base game included there will take on the DLC too.

Thanks. Pity no trophies. I aways enjoy the extra gameplay they provide.
