Just tried the new update for the last hour on ps5. Seems smoother again to me, can't fault it.
A change for me seems to be the vibration settings and trigger effects on the dualsense have been upped a lot, wonder if anyone else noticed this, feels different but good different.
Also I wonder if anyone else noticed a difference to handling? Especially on tarmac and noticeable under breaking. Feels slightly more controlled to me, more precise, brakes more forgiving. I dunno if that's just because the controller settings seem to have been tweaked. Might be in my head but I wonder if anyone else noticed. I'll have to try it on wheel later to see.
Today's moment with the gr yaris in monte feels noticeably different to me anyway.
I will be very happy if they have increased vibration on tarmac!

Although I'd be even happier if they added a Celica, hint.
IIRC there has been some issue with Toyota licensing for a while. If you notice, none are included except for the contractually-obligated current Yaris.

It felt like the yaris' flywheel was broken there was so much vibration in monte 😂
Also tried a scoobie and you could feel the engine revs through the dual sense really well, like it is so good and high fidelity I'd miss it using my wheel. I actually think they utilised the dualsense as a multiplatform developer better than polyphony did with gran turismo.
On game pad at least I found it much easier to predict the steering and you can kindve feel the grip of the tyres on tarmac and the weight shifting in the car.

I was actually a bit slower than I would've been yesterday before the update, it'll take some relearning but it was much more entertaining and natural feeling I found at least.

Kylotonn had classic Toyota's, Almost certainly thanks to the WRC license. I don't see it out of the realms of possibility. The real question is if DLC as a whole will be a thing or not. If it is I'd be surprised if Toyota's aren't a part of it.

WRC Generations had both Celica and Corolla, with loads of liveries etc, then didn't let you do anything with them (like all of their classic car roster). EAWRC let's you do whatever you want with any car but doesn't have any Toyotas. aaaaaaAAAARRRRGGHHHHH.

If I remember correctly, and it was said many times, Codemasters and EA are both in Toyota's black list; CM for not paid royalties and EA because Toyota wants nothing to do with them regarding Need for Speed and "illegal races" :irked:

As @Cabelmania alluded to above, it all comes down to whether Toyota will work with Codemasters again. An ex-Codemasters employee alleged that Codemasters missed a royalty payment and this seemed to upset Toyota enough for them to blacklist Codemasters and that was that. Easy to see what game it was for as Dirt 3 was the last one to feature Toyota.

Perhaps we can do a fan petition and appeal to Toyota to work with Codemasters again.

Interesting, I guess we should just hope the WRC license would hold some weight and might make Toyota play ball. They have a rich Rallying legacy. If there's any place to display and honour that a WRC licensed product would be it. Hopefully that will make them come around. As there's already one Toyota in the game (Out of necessity ofc) hopefully that has inadvertently opened the door slightly too.

Well they must only be partially blacklisted seeing as the Yaris WRC1 is already in the game.
I doubt they would have much of a choice in that respect given that it would probably come under the WRC license as a whole.

Would it be possible to include cars that resemble Toyota but without logos or names that refer to it?

I have always wondered how Rush Rally or CarX Rally / Drift can include those cars without having legal problems with manufactures.

Something like that would work for me, Codemasters could call them Toyrally:lol:

Toyboata.

Art of Rally called the Celica 'the liftback'.

Maybe it's because they want to avoid reminding people of the 1995 car
The history on that car has been distorted over time - to the point where it’s now seen as a championship-winning legend by casual gamers. There was a previous Dirt title where the car’s voiceover was so glowingly inaccurate that I complained to Codemasters support, who basically said “Oh the intern writes those”

The ST185 was easily the most successful of the Celicas, I know, but I grew up playing Sega Rally, it’s the ST205 I love all day. I bloody adore that car, so much so that I almost bought a roadgoing one some years ago before I calculated the insurance cost and aborted in favour of a Honda Jazz. Not that I’m bitter. My therapist tells me to look on the bright side. It has parking sensors and nobody will ever want to steal it.

My fondest WRC memories of the ST205 are actually after it was banned, when it popped up in various rallies in 1996 still in full Castrol colours as a ‘privateer’ entry driven by Kankkunen and (I think?) Freddy Loix. They didn’t win that year but they just popped up from nowhere and still kinda kicked ass in it.

Last game I remember the car being in was maybe one of the PS3 era DIRT games? The ST185 was most recently in Sebastien Loeb Rally Evo and the KT games.

Almost buying a Celica but instead coming away with a Honda Jazz is like going to McDonald's and buying a salad.
I'd need therapy too.

They didnt change anthing in the physics, or they would have to wipe all leaderboards. But they definitely changed something in the max braking force. I have a screenshot from my pre hotfix Sierra Cossworth setup and the braking was at a value higher than what is now the maximum value.

They have tweaked the handling model in the past, the game definitely handles a bit different to what it did on release. This has been noted by lots of people on YouTube and stuff and leaderboards weren't wiped. So it wasn't beyond the realms of possibility to tweak a few bits. Tarmac is definitely different now to what it was in October.

But at the very least, tweaking the controller settings for game pad would change the feel a lot to a similar extent. You get more gradual turn in with the thumbsticks and a better sense of control over the car. So unless someone wants to examine the games code and compare pre and post patch versions we won't know what they did for sure 🤔

For what it's worth I think Moments has changed the menu order, stacking new events at the left of the screen for easier access.

Another great entry into Howards Davies "In A Garage" Series where he goes around the country visiting some interesting rally oriented places, M-Sport, Prodrive, Viking Motorsport (Phil Mills), And countless others. This time he visits his old friend and longtime driving partner Gwyndaf Evans. A certain Codemasters are mentioned in regards to the rebuilding of Gwyndaf's F2 Seat Ibiza. Who would have thought!!!? Like most of them the show is in welsh but its well subtitled.

I dont remember physics changes being in any patch notes, but the braking force adjustment was never mentioned too so who knows what they've changed :)

I never felt a change in handling but I havent put in an excessive amount of time, especially in the earlier patches.

I ran the Mini at BioBio on Sunday (pre) and Thursday (post patch) in the Dirty Dailies, and it definitely felt "easier" to control on Thursday.

Also, without changing any settings, the Puma in the GTPlanet club event was definitely more predictable (in my opinion) than last week. But of course, different rally and different surface would also have had an impact.

One thing is for sure - the graphics on Series S are MUCH sharper and the detail pop in is reduced so much that I hardly notice it at all now (it was very noticeable at times before). I think this is also making driving a LOT easier for me being able to look ahead more.

All in all an excellent patch in my eyes 👍 @PJTierney

No handling changes were detailed in the patch notes, and considering I examined over 600 dev tickets in order to write those notes, I would presume there's no physics changes in this update and it's primarily placebo or a perception change based on other aspects of the update.

Did the controller and braking settings not change either? Am I imagining that too? Is my whole perception of reality a lie?
