What got me really hyped was basically the Famitsu scan saying it would be playable at Gamescon and then the video showing many GT steering wheels. I really have no explanation about what has happened besides Sony setting up all those wheels for GT5: prologue.

Really confused right now.

I mean, obviously I missed it somewhere because all these people who are surprised, depressed, disappointed, angry and upset wouldn't get like that from creating something from their own imagination and hyping it up for no reason whatsoever only to then have their hopes dashed. Would they.

No reason whatsoever? We're given almost no info in GT5.

It's pretty normal people start expecting things. You have to admit, PD's marketing is "very, very bad".

You might have done - I missed the big Sony announcement that GT5 was going to feature at GamesCom...


I don't recall them saying anything was region-specific - firmware, Home and PS3Slim were all multiregion - so I don't have any reason to assume the PSPGo/GTM offer is EU only.

I agree, that is a really sweet offer! I hope it applies to all regions!

I think that all of us are just disappointed with the non-reveal of GT5 and it's release date, full features, etc.

Hopefully, TGS will be the time for that and we can all just settle down and relax.

I really hope things don't turn ugly here on these forums, just due to disappointment and anger - remember - GT5 is being shown playable on the show floor. Somebody from Sony or PD has to make a comment to the press or an interview about that.

Jordan says the release date for this year is solid and that is enough for me - that doesn't mean that the new GamesCom is the place to reveal it.

TGS will be the place for such an announcement.

Come to think of it though, I don't recall any statement from Sony saying GT5 would be at GamesCom at all. But again it's obviously me that's missed it rather than people making things up and getting angry because of it.

Not because he's a moderator or a member, just because he has a different opinion.

So here we are, more than a month later, at a Game Show, with no new info at all.
You can't blame people for expecting a bit more than nothing at all.

You can say: But it never has been confirmed that this or that was going to be announced at Gamescon, etc.
The thing is, they won't announce announcements. So yes, we're guessing. We're building up expectations.

And we're left disappointed every time.

I seriously doubt that PD will announce GT5 BEFORE the release of GT Mobile. PD/Sony will profit more the longer they withhold info on GT5.

My reasoning is that Gt Mobile is a huge title for the GO! Sony's plan is to have GT Mobile push new hardware by capturing early hardware adopters as well as the hardcore GT audience. Surely GT fans will consider the psp version to hold them over until GT5 is released. (We have a history of spending crazy amounts of cash just for this game. G25, anyone?)

All I am saying is that I wouldn't expect much info besides teasers until at least a few weeks after the release of GT mobile.

They are going to milk this release!

It might not be. The PSN cards are EU only. Well, for now I'm assuming. The offer should be prob EU till stated otherwise. If Sony has anything about GT in general, that should be the first thing that should be clarified in Gamecom.

Why not? If anything other than to trump Microsoft and Forza 3 - that's 2 GT games in the same year!

I can see the headlines now:

Oddly, I'm not disappointed at all because in the absence of any official line saying "GT5 will be mentioned here and then", I haven't built up any expectations.

Blame them for failing to meet your expectations when they've done something to build them up. If they haven't, blame yourself.


Take the release date GTPlanet has got hold of. We've done our best to verify it and, frankly, we're pretty damn happy that it's real. But we're not about to pass it onto you until there's official word from Sony.

Imagine though that we did anyway and it didn't happen - it'd be our fault for building up your expectations. Which is why we aren't - it'd be very easy to get carried away in releasing it exclusively to the world, but then we'd be held accountable for any "mishaps".
