I saw F1 2014 on sale the other day, and was sorely tempted by it - but reading this has killed me enthusiasm dead. I use a controller, but I can't drive with traction control. It kills all throttle response. I experimented with it in Grid Autosport and it was consistently costing me four seconds a lap at Brands Hatch in a touring car.

This game is nothing like Grid Autosport. I can promise you that unless you're an alien, traction control will not be a hindrance. I have all the F1 games since 2010, and in those games I can set the same lap times with TC on or off. But in this game I'm 1.5 seconds slower with TC off. When using a wheel it's a challenge and requires a lot of concentration to even complete a lap. Tire wear is also near unmanageable with TC off.

As much fun as I have playing the F1 games, this one feels like the biggest let down of the entire series. Yeah, new cars and driving characteristics are cool but it is just F1 2013 sans classics and with new cars and tracks.

I am looking forward to F1 2015 because its going to be next gen and it will be released earlier in the year with mid season updates. Cant wait to play with that.

So apparently the game is going to have all of the 2014 cars and then "hybrid cars" that will be place holders until later in the season as they are updated.
I really hope that there is formation laps, all three practice sessions, and a fixed safety car.

Where did you get that info?

That is again a terrible idea, would they do this each year? Man Modern gaming has some lows but this is just wow.
They're trying a new system with the game where they update it as the season progresses instead of putting the game out when the season is 3/4ths finished.

I don't understand why you see this as a terrible idea and a massive low.

I agree - if the leak is true and this is the case sure it's a bit disappointing (especially given that they didn't work much on 2014 because they were focusing on 2015) - but if they don't have the time, they don't have the time. If this lets them get the game out earlier in the season, I think that's a good thing. And presumably they'll have it all updated by September/October, when they used to release them, so I don't see the problem.

Looking at those pictures I'm not a big F1 fan(meaning more casual), but having had F1 2012(did like) I might be tempted to buy 2015 based off that pic of Monaco it has more life in it than I remember, and I could be wrong it might not even be Monaco lol.

Yeah, really..

So the main complaint of this series is that it doesn't evolve, what you're saying is that it's ok that next year for example when you buy F1 2016, you basically get F1 2015 for a bit until they decide to update the game for you to the actual product you purchase.

I guess you don't mind playing FIFA with the same teams as last year.

Well we knee codemasters were changing their release schedule so there's no point complaining about that. Secondly, for ad long as I can remember people have wanted updates during the season, we finally get it! This is great stuff, effectively getting 2 seasons of F1 in one game! Not only that but the 2015 cars will be updated throughout the season giving us a great platform for F1 2016. As long as they get the game right, I.e physics, graphics, good career etc then this is going to be brilliant.

If it means getting to play the game much earlier than normal, and then getting the fully updated game in autumn like we would do anyway - sure, why not?

You wouldn't get to play the game earlier, that's the point.

Yeah as MildAshers said, Codemasters will indeed be aiming to release the game earlier.

Now onto new-gen. 2015 will see us release our first title on new-generation platforms. The game will launch earlier in the Formula One season and then go onto receive live digital updates. These updates will deliver 2015 content into the game as the season unfolds, ensuring you’ll be competing against the same drivers and teams you watch week in and week out!

@TRGTspecialist why don't they just release the full game when they're finished with the new cars? I really can't see how this is in any form acceptable.

I guess they want the game out closer to the start of the season than the end of it, probably for sales reasons, and the player's benefit - for me it'll certainly be better to have the game in hand when the real life season is still in full swing, even if it means putting up with some unfinished cars in the interim. Totally understand not everyone will agree, but I doubt I'll be alone in this view. It makes more sense with their first next-gen game I think, because (hopefully) there's a lot more to it than just new teams/drivers.

Codemasters won't be the only people who have done this, either - both Eutechnyx with their NASCAR games and Milestone with MotoGP have released games early with the previous season on disc, and then included the current season later on with a free update.
