I came across this guy called 'Duke', west of Vault 111. A firefight started as some Raiders turned up and he died, by me.
It was then I saw he was wearing a full set of T-60 Atom Cats armour.
Has anyone else met this guy ? and having killed him are the Atom Cats garage people hostile to me now ?

Take the armour :)

I doubt they'll be hostile - it wasn't you who killed him.

I can't imagine that the Atom Cats would be hostile to you, though.
I have a nasty feeling I killed him, it was quite an intence fire fight and for once I was using an automatic weapon and let rip, and I'm not positive but I thought I heard Codsworth say 'that was murder'. At the time I thought it was the way I went through the Raiders but when I got the armour I saw I was stealing it, so doubts were being raised.
I'm only level 14 with this character and the Atom Cats garage is too far to find out what kind of reception I'd get.

I found Big John's scrapyard last night and...

...saw from the terminal that there was a shelter behind the house. According to his logs he was preparing for himself, the wife and his children aged 5 and 7. I figured out how to get into the shelter and for the first time in Fallout 4 had a properly sad-feeling moment.

At the risk of spoiling the moment, go to the upper floors of the Concord Speakeasy.
You'll see a skeleton in a bathtub with a plunger surrounded by naked mannequins.
I defy you to explain that.

Also, go to the General Atomics Factory and find the QA department.
You'll have to go through a series of tests designed for Mr. Handy and Ms. Nanny robots to unlock a safe. The first test is to punish a young boy for his behaviour. There's only one solution to it, but ask yourself: "what does my first course of action say about me as a person?".
Also, why are the General Atomics robots tasked with looking after infants armed with high-powered weaponry by default?

Got back on for some decent time again today, it'd been a week or two. I finally got up to and did the "Blind Betrayal" quest.
Now that Danse is free of the BOS I sent him to the Castle, he's a good fighter and I'm pretty sure that eventually I'll have to defend the Castle as part of finishing with the Minutemen.
I also finally did the Silver Shroud quests and got John Hancock as a companion. His perk is irrelevant to me, but I'm pretty sure he'll idolise me soon enough. Then it'll just be X6-88 left.

Yeah, his perk is pretty useless. But I did like his backstory.

Ok guys, need some tips for going to the
glowing sea, I'll take the power armor and buy some rad away and rad X, problem is the armor has a damaged leg and missing arm armor. Is this an issue? also guessing I should take Nick with me since he is immune to radiation?

You should be okay, but if you're still uncertain, you can repair your armour. Take it to a power armour bay and work on it the way you would weapons and armour.

You can also find additional frames and armour pieces throughout the Commonwealth:
  • There's a set of T-45 armour near the crashed vertibird west of USAF Olivia.
  • There's a set of T-51 at a military checkpoint near the Tucker Memorial Bridge on the road from Lexington to Bunker Hill.
  • There's a set of X-01 on a hill overlooking West Everett Estates.
  • There's another set - it might be T-45 or T-60 - north of Graygarden; follow the train tracks.
  • You can get a full set of T-60 from the Brotherhood of Steel after you report to Elder Maxson aboard the Prydwen.
  • You are guaranteed to find a full set of X-01 armour in 35 Court, an unmarked location just west of Customs House Tower, but getting it is difficult and dangerous.
You can also mix and match pieces of power armour. Alternatively, you can wear a gazmat suit (you can find some in the vault of the Switchboard with Deacon).

However, the practical reality of it is this:
The Glowing Sea looks impressive, but it is nowhere near as dangerous as it is made out to be. It's like being in a perpetual, glorified radstorm. Just stay away from the glowing pools of rancid water.
However, you should make sure that you have some pretty heavy weaponry. The place is crawling with Deathclaws, radscorpions and nasty variants of bloodbugs and stingwings.

It doesn't really matter who you take with you - they're largely immune to the radiation.

I really need to get through the story so I can click these spoiler tags. I have some time off next week which I can hopefully use for this. :dopey:

I've taken a break from Fallout 4 for now, but I'm already thinking ahead as to my next play-through:
1) I won't join the Brotherhood of Steel until they show up after "Reunions".

2) I won't visit the Railroad until I have the courser chip.

3) I will only visit the Institute long enough to unlock "Banished from the Institute".

4) I'm going to see how the Minutemen vs. Brotherhood storyline plays out.
Also, a female character. I'm curious to see how different the story is from a mother's perspective.

Don't rush. Some of the most rewarding experiences happen quite by accident.

Anyone has an issue with Autosave? Sometimes it decides to save few second after the game reloads.
Anyway I am at Vault 81 And...
After talking to the Overseer, I saw that kid's cat running to the commonwealth, Can I stop it before it getting out? Should I immediately go after the cat, Or can I roam around the vault for a little bit?

Never had that issue. I think you can set it so it only saves after you put away your Pip-Boy. But I don't know if this option exists on consoles.

The game will mark the cat's location. But I think I found it towards the lake not far from Vault 81.

Speak to Erin, Alexis' daughter. That will unlock "Here Kitty, Kitty" - which is very easy - which will in turn open up "Hole In The Wall". You will meet Curie as part of the quest, and she will be available as a companion upon its completion.

Also, after doing the "Here Kitty Kitty" quest and getting the "Hole in the Wall" (normally takes around 24hrs in game to be available IIRC after completing the Kitty quest, activates by going to their sick lab) you should know that if you get bitten by a single Vault 81 Mole Rat you will permanently lose 10 health. It is very possible to get through it without being bitten. Note also that if your companion or any of the Protectrons get bitten (should you activate them) it affects you as well. Go solo, quicksave a lot when you're safe, and if you're not sure if you've been bitten, on your status page in the Pipboy it displays a little medicine capsule symbol if you've been infected.
Alternatively, you can be a total knob bag and use the cure on yourself instead of the small boy who then dies.

That sais, 10HP isn't much of a penalty.

Still, it's a stupid mechanic - a protectron gets bitten and I still get infected, even when I am in a full suit of Mk. VI X-01 power armour, complete with Tesla coils which reflect damage back onto enemies ...

I've completed both of these quests, I wasn't aware about the penalty, And I don't recall being bitten, But I think my companion has been

It might hurt you to begin with, but sink a few points into your Endurance stat and related perks, and you won't notice the difference.

Hit level 49 last night. I have been doing some escort missions for the BOS "Learning curve". These have actually been quite fun and brought me to new areas I have not explored yet. I even found a bobblehead in one of the areas they sent me. So if you get tired of doing the same MM missions over and over again, go visit Proctor Quinlan on the Prydwen. Even if the person you are escorting dies, you can still continue these missions. But if you want them to live, I would recommend saving quite often. You can also just fast travel to the locations if you have them unlocked already. So some can be completed very fast.

I had about an hour last night and I was barely able to clear the Super Duper Mart with Preston. This was not due to difficulty, it was because it took me that long to search every nook and cranny.

It's going to take me forever to get through this game and I love it. :D

I posted a full list of where you can find them all a few pages ago, if you're interested.
I will probably take a look once I hit level 50 and start working toward some more achievements before starting my new character. Hopefully I can still get the bobbleheads even if I blew up the Institute. I am guessing no.

That Super duper mart was a euphoric flashback of Fallout 3 super mart for me. In Fallout 3 I cleared out that super market 100%. It was insane the amount of content I collected in F3. I had a bunch of pics and info in the F3 thread of everything I collected. This time in F4 I decided to just get the major stuff. But I do still hoard just about everything. Especially since Junk is actually VERY valuable in F4.

I love this game to death.
I have thought of creating a thread where users would share what they have renamed their favorite weapons. Basically we would post the type of weapon, and then the name.

Pictures would be a plus.

For instance I have a 4 crank laser musket called the 'laser Quasar".

Also I have a long double barreled shotgun called the 'double cheese burger".

I would love to see some of your creative names. Some could give a good laugh.

Wondering if that would be a good idea for a thread or if someone has already done it.

I just found out about a tip which I did not know:

If you pick up a gun, you receive a full magazine worth of ammo for it. For example, you kill a Raider and go over to the body where all the guy has is a short pipe pistol (which you already have 4 of). If you pick up the pistol anyway, you get 12 .38 rounds added to inventory but the screen will only say pipe pistol added. Immediately drop the pistol and you keep the ammo.

I haven't tried it but I will tonight if I can get some free time. I usually grab the loose ammo and move on if I already have the weapon and attachments.

I got an Explosive Combat Shotgun today which has now replaced my old "+25% damage" version, as the explosion brings it up to par on damage anyway, and the area effect is an added bonus. Its name is Kablammo.
