The incoming DLC has me trying to get through the main story as quickly as I can but there is just so much to do. I can see my self playing this game for at least the next year just finishing the normal game quests and then jumping into DLC.

I just made it to The Institute and received my first mission for them. I'm still contemplating which side I will ultimately choose.

The disciplined, military style of the BOS was the initial easy choice as it fits my personality best. The Railroad seemed too righteous and Desdemona is not the type of character I could ever see myself helping to do anything, let alone free a group of people I am not tied to. As for The Minutemen, Preston is just so needy and The Minutemen seem like the Mickey Mouse army that helps everyone and pretends nothing bad could ever happen. I was convinced I would choose the BOS until getting into The Institute and finding Shaun. Family ties are tough to break and relatives can complicate even easy things like rational thoughts. If I choose The Institute, it would be only to help Shaun and not for their goals to "better humanity above." Although this is assuming he is who he says...

I'm hoping as I do more missions for each side, their real agendas come through and I can make an easier choice between the BOS and Institute.

@88GTA - that's one of the brilliant things about each faction: as much as they stand for something, they all have a fatal flaw.

The Brotherhood of Steel might bring order and stability to the Commonwealth, but it soon becomes apparent that they are fascists.

The Minutemen might have the appeal of a grassroots organisation retaking the Commonwealth, but they're disorganised, dysfunctional, and Preston Garvey is an incompetent leader.

The Railroad are driven by ideology and a noble outcome, but they are meddling with forces that they don't understand.

I'll let you discover what is wrong with the Institute.

Far Harbour looks great. A very Point Lookout-esque vibe for me. Now if it can outdo Point Lookout, we're in for a treat.

And I finally realised who Bobby No-Nose reminds me of:

One more thing... does anyone know how to make the pack brahmins go to the tent-thingies? I have a permanent traffic jam.

Pack brahmins are notoriously stupid. I think Bethesda are aware of this and weren't able to fix it - if you check out Cricket's brahmin in VATS, you will see that its name is "Idiot".

I believe Bethesda have said that they have a lot of DLC planned. So far, they have only released details of Automatron, Wasteland Workshop and Far Harbour. Plus survival mode, but that was a free update (and includes infrastructure needed for Far Harbour). I would expect more, since Fallout 3 had five story-related DLC packages.

Yeah fingers crossed. It's a little vague of them though to expect people to shell out for the season pass without some sort of DLC release schedule. That said, I'm sure people have gone for it, especially when it was initially discounted. I'm going to pick up the packs individually I think :)

They stated the three releases that were going to be available and they've stuck to them... if you wanted all three (which I did) then it worked out cheaper with the season pass for just those three. Anything else is a bonus as far as I'm concerned :D

I couldn't help but notice a 2.3Gb update for Fallout this evening, I haven't checked yet but I'm guessing that it brings Survival mode and prepares assets for Far Harbor?

You are correct. Survival Difficulty has been added, but no word on if Far Harbour assests were added.

Apologies for the double post, but Bethesda has confirmed the release date for Far Harbour as the 19th of May.

It can't come soon enough!

Have they confirmed the size of the DLC? I know I keep asking, but I have to plan in advance.
Not as of yet. But I'd guess some of the assests would have been included in today's update. The official Fallout Facebook and Twitter page has slowly been releasing more info on the DLC, so I'd suggest keeping an eye on either. 👍

I wouldn't rush through it myself. Just enjoy it as it comes.

Is there any word on what has been added?

So they've announced the price of Far Harbor? My bad, must have missed that. But the two DLCs so far come to GBP12.00 and the Season Pass is 40.00. Will Far Harbor cost more than 28.00? That's a little steep.

Thanks though @prisonermonkeys for confirming Bethesda have said there will be more, it still seems a little vague to me (unlike say Forza where you are assured a car pack each month) but it's my choice, I realise that :)

Weirdly the update seems to have added Far Harbor, it now appears in my "Add-Ons" list although the Nick Valentine quest that kick-starts it is not yet available. Very odd - that would imply that players will be prompted to download this update whether they purchase it or not. Normally, despite having the Season Pass I still need to download each DLC from the store as it appears).

I can also confirm that Survival Mode is in. I switched a character to it and immediately had 3500+ weight in my inventory, no more carrying all the ammo you find! :D

If you switch the character back out of Survival Mode you are warned that if you proceed that character will not be able to re-enter Survival Mode.

Maybe not, Bethesda say this is their biggest-ever expansion. New land, new places, new creatures. If the rumours are true it also opens up the ocean with creatures and the infamous harpoon gun.

Here's a post from way back giving the prices as they were at the time of posting;

To be more specific; in the UK the pass is currently £25. At £4, £8 and £20 that's a saving of £7 on the first round of DLC. That alone represents improved value. Add to that the remainder of the DLC (at least for 2016) at that all-in price and it's a bargain.

Survival mode, as said by @TenEightyOne, and rather strangely, Far Harbour to the Add-On section, again said by @TenEightyOne. And numerous bug fixes, of course.

With today's update being 2GB, and only adding Survival Mode, I do have a hunch that a fair bit of Far Harbour must be in the code somewhere after the update, especially since it appears in the Add-On section of the Main Menu, which is unusual as you have to usually download it from the PS Store before it appears there, regardless of if you have the Season Pass or not.

It's believed that some of the infrastructure needed to support Far Harbour was included in the update. Probably because Survivor mode adds a pretty fundamental change to a core gameplay mechanic and Bethesda don't want people to encounter problems by downloading Far Harbour without having version 1.5 on their systems.

Seems likes the DLC is 6GB, going off of this.
Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for more information soon.

There really needs to be something that enables you to sell ammunition direct from the settlement. Once you get about halfway between the Drumlin Diner and Cambridge, .38 ammunition becomes useless, but it's a handy little revenue raiser. If you cannot sell direct from the settlement, you'll be forced to make trips manually - especially if you hold off on the perks that allow you to build shops. Trashcan Carla frequently visits Sanctuary, so it shouldn't be hard to set something up, especially if ammunition is shared between settlements like other resources.

There's Lucas too, otherwise you do need the stores. If you invest 500 in each then you can shift a lot more stuff to a set of stores in one go. There's the trader (whose name escapes me) who you first meet at Longneck Lu-wotsit's Cannery, I think if you send her to a settlement you can also trade with her with no stall. That's only about 100 caps though iirc.

There's also the Vault-Tec salesman. Apparently if you set him up in a store, you can get access to good items.

Also, traders naturally get more caps evey few in-game days. Although the wait does seem to be longer on higher difficulty settings. Where they get the money from is a mystery, since they don't really move your stock.

That's great news, hopefully now he'll stop telling me how swell he's felt since he met me, every time I TP back to Sanctuary :)

So anyway I bit the bullet and got the Season Pass, and I do hear what you are saying
@TenEightyOne but like many, I didn't get the early bird discount, so it was £40 for me, but I trust Bethesda to come good and make it worth my while. Not done much yet other than capture a couple of cats and put up one of those de-radiation arch things (not sure that was there before WW) but just about to embark on the first Automatron mission.

He won't, it's a glitch. He only does that on one of my games.

Put him on a Level 3 store, General I think, that gets his unique items.

I'm somewhat bemused that Bethesda have kept the size of Far Harbour down to (apparently) 6Gb. I have been looking at the DLC packages for other games, and Dead Kings for Assassin's Creed Unity and The Last Maharajah and Jack the Ripper for Assassin's Creed Syndicate all weigh in between 9Gb and 20Gb.

I wonder how else they can cross-promote ... maybe a Vault in Tomb Raider or Uncharted? A Vault-Tec bionic arm in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain? And then there's a resemblance between Elder Maxson and Crawford Starrick, the villain of Assassin's Creed Syndicate, so maybe there's something in that.

Got a little more time in last night. I'm still tip-toeing the line between the BOS and Institute by completing missions for each but I'm not sure for how much longer that will hold.

I met all the head scientists at the Institute including Dr. Li whom I had to convince to jump ship back to the BOS. I broke into Virgil's old lab, got his serum and gave Dr. Li the evidence she needed to leave the Institute. After that, Danse, X6-88 and I went to get Gabriel from Libertalia. As Danse and I were nearing Nahant Warf we ran into a Sentry Bot which posed a big challenge. I was ultimately able to lure it into a bottlecap mine that I had placed next to a car which basically ended the battle right there. I was almost killed trying to get him to follow me though.

Shortly after that some BOS reinforcements arrived (which would have been helpful to distract the Sentry Bot) and almost screwed up the entire mission. They were flying in low and ended up catching the attention of X6-88 who was waiting for me. He quickly shot down one Vertibird and then spent the next 5 minutes trying to shoot all the BOS Knights who landed in another Vertibird. It wouldn't let me talk to him or start the mission until he had killed them all.

Once we were finally able to talk, we started the raid on Libertalia (Danse hated this because I was helping the Institute) which meant that Danse and X6-88 were stuck in the water the whole time while I tried to snipe everyone. Moral of the story, don't bring any companions to Libertalia.

I'm now level 38 and I have put the last two level ups into Ninja 1 and 2. That puts me at 3x sneak damage (5x for melee) and I'm at Rifleman 3 which does 60% more damage with rifles. Rifleman 4 and 80% more damage will be next.

I'm not sure for how much longer that will hold.
The game will give you a warning when a choice that you make will permanently affect your relationship with a faction. However, it will only give you the warning for the first time that this happens.
That first quest is "Mass Fusion" and will either make enemies of the Institute or the Brotherhood.
I strongly suggest that you stay with the Brotherhood for the time being. For one, you are very close to making that decision, but more importantly:
There is a quest that you need to complete in order to unlock Danse's perk. First, Dr. Li will have you recover components for Liberty Prime; this should unlock the quest that you need for the perk.
Make sure your charisma stat is as high as it can be - you will need it to get the perk.
