Ok, I bought into the hype and preordered with the CSP pedals. I may try to change to the elite pedals if the reviews change my mind before they ship in December.

What PC spec and games you running to test with?
I think GT5 on CSW is serious overkill but still would be sweet.

Yeh I agree overkill.. the vast majority of the review will be GT5 based however I will get it on a pc somehow LOL

Ordering right away, wow get in their lads...
Well I guess that's a reflection on peoples own support/belief still in Fanatec.

That seems like a restricted review.
You seriously have to see about getting the popular PC sims and know those sims well to offer a good detailed review for the potential CSW buyers? The new rim will feel nice but is it heavier, does it restrict the FFB on the consoles to the CSRE and why pay for all that tech to have GT5 as a main point of purchase when it is wasted?

Some will I reckon indeed go for it but has to be a small percentage of buyers get the CSW mainly for GT5?
Maybe Im wrong though.

Good luck on the review all the same.

I wonder about something that Thomas never mentions on the Fanatec website with the Xbox compatible wheels. If you have a wireless dongle that came with your wireless 360 pad for windows, then can I hook up the wheel wirelessly?

Ps. Can someone help me and figure out what the issue is with my CSP having a deadzone in CARS, I posted in the CARS topic here on GTPLANET.

If I was buying a wheel exclusively for GT5 I would definitely get the T500 RS which is the official wheel and overall seems to be a very good wheel.

CSW has to be a very good wheel but it is mainly designed for the PC since the consoles do not support 110 buttons and that is one of the main advantages of this wheel along with the quick-release.

Connection the wheel with the wireless dongle is possible, but you loose functionality.

Fanatec properties (driver panel) is not working, wheel is recognised as a "wheel"

(net even geprobeerd)

The Porsche PWTS & GT2 I believe supported the "Wireless dongle" for PS3 & PC usage.
It is not listed as supported on the CSR(E) or I believe the CSW.

Thanks for trying that out. Hrm, the loss of functionality sounds more like a driver issue to me then an issue with the MS dongle though. As in the PC drivers only support HID and not XID. I wonder why?

What I meant was this dongle though and not the Fanatec one. So I don't know if you've ever used this for a wheel, Latte.

I think their were issues with using X360 wheels on the PC with the PC Microsoft dongel. Could be wrong guys but just have a feeling at one point people also having issues. Maybe their was some fix or way to get it working but Im not so sure.

You may as well just stick to cable, besides no issues with any dropouts or ms in lag.

when is the CSW expected?

Its not expected yet. As in there is no known release that. I reckon or more like I hope that it will be at the end of January. But it might even be a month later. I seriously don't know. Testing units have not been shipped yet, at least not to me. So it's still off for a while at least. ;)

That's an interesting idea. I imagine it would bind, but probably show up as a Microsoft Wireless Racing Wheel. You'll probably lose a lot of advanced driver functionality. I seem to recall MS reneged on their Wireless Racing Wheel support for PC as well, leaving out FFB and possibly some other things.

As for the second question, definitely let Slightly Mad know as well. That's the whole point of C.A.R.S. testing.

The deadzone is a known issue with cars and the devs are.resolving it.. I follow that forum as its something tempting me into pc racing when I have a few quid..

CEX will give you about £25 for your DF-GT, always a start I reckon. :)

No way LOL... I will always need a back up :) LOL.. I'm buying myself an iPad and then a gaming pc as well as a CSW.. nice reward after a stressful year :)

Man i wish i could afford toys. Talk about a stressful year. You know about my federal case, on top of that my mom has been in the hospital since may 12. Had some serious complications after a triple bypass. Just came of the ventilator two weeks ago.
Monday was the second best day of the year i had so far. Found out she is medically cleared and is only in for.leg rehab now. Docs said home in 3 weeks!!!!!!! The best was 2 weeks ago when i heard her voice for the first time in 6 months. Sweetest "i love you " i have EVER heard.

Sorry for the OT.

Caz, I'm glad your mom is better. This is all that matters - to have your loved ones in good health. All the best to you and you mother man.

Thanks guys. Life is finally looking up. I think in the past 2 years ive aged a dozen. 33 in december going on 45 :)

Well wish you and the family the best...
Such things are never easy.

Will get you that CSP Tuning kit posted, least I can do for you for the help you gave.

This is slightly off topic.... But thomas would you mind deleting some PMs as it says your box is full. Alternatively you can email me. Cheers.

I guess that means hooking it up via cable I guess. Just wondered it since I never noticed someone mention it, although I did know about the Fanatec dongle.

I did posted it in the CARS forum of course, but I get nowhere with those guys. They just say "it works here, your pedals are broken" which I know they aren't. You can find my topic in the Game Controller section there. Also I put the story down in the CARS topic here.

Why don't they say so when I open a topic. *sigh*
Thanks for the update, mate.

Oh and Caz, be sure to make it a great Christmas with the family this year. You guys at least deserve that kind of stress reliever. ;)
