I've got an extra socket on mine next to brake vibe, same date though. Wonder how much different versions there are ?

Interesting, I wonder what that socket is for since it's not labeled.
I dunno how many version there are. I bought my CSP's a month ago or something like that now. Dunno how old your CSP's are?
My S/N is in the range of 1109017xx (I am not giving the full number since I don't want someone to claim warranty with my S/N).
 
I also have that extra unlabeled port, no idea what its for.
Csp were purchased in last december.
 
Only one way to find out. Just measure and compare how much juice comes out of it with its neighbor. You don't want to smell fried electronics afterwards. ;)
I am sure there is a reason for it being removed though. Still I am very curious now damn it.
Although I have a brain fart here. Since the other one is for the abs motor, could this one have been for an experimental clutch vibration motor?

clutch vibration? why would they add a clutch vibration? :)

The bite point differs from car to car and then it would need a new load cell module for the clutch as well to be able to find the right point for each car.

For me it is good as it is - an analog, nonlinear clutch.
 
Hmmm shifter port also uses.network style cable. Interesting.

Also, the scree holes in the "BAY"
Will there be an adapter block that screws in there with pass thrus to make the cables come straight out the back rather than straight down.


Can the testers comment on if.the csre comes with an adapter for the pedals? Or a whole new cable. Wait, didnt you clarify latte that its a new cable. Ps2---r#?

That last cat is also out of the bag already about there being adapters from RJ45 to the corresponding cables. I guess in the future we'll see more use of RJ45 connections instead of PS2.

Left from top to bottom. 2 cables for the shifters, one being female PS/2 (above) and the other male (middle). Depending on the placement of the shifter you use the above one with the original cable if you want place it far from you, but use the middle for when you want to place it on the ClubSport Table clamp.
The bottom cable is the long adapter cable for the Clubsport Pedals, CSR pedals and CSE Elite pedals.

In the middle from top to bottom. The above looks like a USB 3.0 power cable (not USB2 as it doesn't have enough power, but USB 3.0 could charge a laptop in theory). Then there is the normal power cable (with grounded euro plug) and below that a power cable for the USA. Then we have a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter for the headset (so that you can use a normal headset as well) or at least it looks like it.

On the right. Some screws for a to me unknown purpose and the power brick you can use if you don't have USB 3.0.


ps. I don't have a Fanatec wheel nor a test wheel here. So I am just commenting on pics and don't have any knowledge nor am restricted at this time on throwing in some speculation. ;)

Now that looks very good. Maybe I should sell my clubsports already. lol
I would love to test those out, they must be putting the pedals on a whole new level. :drool:
 
I do not think those are official.
Fanatec has featured some of this guys mods on 911wheel before. Thomas was actually going to scrap his handbrake design for this guys. The clutch mod was one of the mods he did.

I may be wrong though, but those pics are a couple months old now with no news at all.

Taking a closer look you're right. On the brake there is a CPV Racing (RC car) Savage shock absorber, to give the feel of pressure like in a car better. This as an additive to the load cell. Then there is the (I think) custom made mod on the clutch. When you push the clutch the spring will stretch giving a more gradually increasing resistance, up till the point where it is almost fully stretched. Giving a sort of bite feel. Problem is that the bite point differs per car, so it's not a perfect mod.
 
I wanna ask, might sound dumb, but what does the bite point of a clutch feel like, what does it signify? I've always wanted to know really.

LOGI, the raised plate on the clutch also pivots about halfway through the travel. It is quite the interesting design. there is a you tube video of it working floating around somewhere ( prob youtube huh :) )


all that talk from me about an xbox a few pages back might be out the window. my daughter has it on her xmas list. :)

For that I'd have to explain how a clutch works which is a pain. It's a pain without pictures so here is a video.



What you feel is the vibration of the pressure plate touching the clutch plate. The two gripping into each other is also called biting into each other. So that's the bite.
 
Oh, I already know how the clutch works, although that video was very entertaining. (Don't ask how! :lol:) I know now what your talking about when you guys say "bite", can't wait for the first game to incorporate a bite algorithm, as well as the first wheel! Looks like that may be a while though!

Well if I had to put a feeling into words which I am not good at, then it's as follows.

When you press the clutch you feel the pressure like the increasing load of pressing a spring. Then you start to feel a faint vibration with resistance that increases and then decreases. This is the point where the clutch is decoupled. Then the rest of the way is the still increasing spring tension.
It's the same in reverse.

Might not be but the fact they got shipped to him from Fanatec like that makes one wonder if Thomas and the boys have something up their sleeves and used his design idea from the YouTube video and tried a production type version:

If you look at the pic posted earlier of the front on shot of the pedals theres a sticker on there that says "NO 3". That implys to me that these are protoype set number 3. He also listed them in his blog as CSP V2

BTW that's a CSR Elite in the other box that he's got unboxing pics of up on his blog as well.

Time will tell if these are the next incarnation of the CSP and if they are it looks promising on two fronts:

1) The pedals are evolving to offer an even more realistic feel
2) The upgrades here could likely easily be packaged as a retrofit kit for the earlier CSP versions.

Thank god for your last observation I was nearly in tears thinking I no longer had the best pedals at their price point as I know I can't afford to buy a whole new set anytime soon.

Got to say hats off to Fanatec for what seems to be a relentless drive to further not only their products but this hobby/pastime in general.

Final thing for now, is the blog referred to the one in Japanese?
 
Do you think their could be a future Tuning Kit V2?

We have discussed RC car shocks in the past and certainly on the T500RS threads.
I even looked and considered trying to do a d.i.y to the T500RS pedals and at one point a set of CSP sensors attached to the T500RS pedal arms for a Frankenstein T500/CSP combo.

I am surprised that their hasnt been a 3rd party option for T500RS as the design had potential to allow modifications. Particulary a "Perfect Pedal" component.

However the CSRE Pedal design for me is superior, not without its own drawbacks and issues (in the review) but the ability to be able to easily lift a pedal component and self install it (like G25/G27 d.i.y inverted mods) has been recognised and is welcomed.

If anything for me if they ever do a new set of CSP I would say going more in the direction of the CSRE pedal design is the future. Now question is whos going to maybe modify the CSRE pedals and combine them with the CSP sensors.

Won't be me but Id like to see someone have a go.

Yes. I was using google translate to try to figure some of it out and what I gathered from it is that Thomas and this guy were going back and forth on this design and that this was heading towards a retail version.

Thanks, thats good news that guys a god as far as I'm concerned, but really hope there is a retro fittable upgrade as well.

If it happens I would bank on it.....Thomas and Fanatec don't strike me as a company that would alienate customers by not offering such a kit. From what I can decipher from the pics the basic components are unchanged....aka the pedals and their holes are the same. Basically the mods here consist of a couple brackets, a different "cell" block on the clutch, a new bracket for the load cell adjustment knob to allow mounting the shock, some various pivot mounts and spacer arrangement for the front anchor shaft. All stuff that could easily be bundled in a kit
