Maybe because the Elite comes with a wheel.
Unless I'm mistaken the CSW doesn't.

Who knows for sure. There's a lot of smoke and mirrors ATM. Plus we don't know the full specs on the CSW base.

The wheel wad quoted from thomas as a freebee, so he understood why people questioned the quality of it because it was included for no extra charge. it is not a great wheel, but i cant argue with a freebee. in fact i wonder if people would complain if yhey could buy a csw for $539 that came with the same wheel? hmmm

No idea :( the 80€ includes all taxes though. However I don't know now much taxes are in America.

VAT in Germany is 19%. Fanatec is charging 33% more in euros compared to dollars.

Wheel is expensive but we all knew that from the start. In a perfect world, I would buy CSR-E base with BMW rim but I know that we are not living in a perfect world. CSR-E is cheaper because of the rim is not the same quality. Fanatec could sell CSR-E base and just say it is not officially supported by XBOX.

Again, just expressing my dismay.
We were told 600$ for the CSW with either launch rim. Now it is more no matter which rim you choose den before the table clamp.

If the licensing is what added such a significant cost Increase, why not just make a generic wheel that looks close to that BMW rim like they are doing with the formula style rim. Then for round 2 of rim releases due licensed versions.

Edit: curious to know why they csr:e still has the first batch fly in price with the extra 40 per wheel as well. I thought after the first batch it was going back to 500.

The combination of base and Formula rim costs about 630 which is just 5% more than planned. There will be less expensive rims coming up so if the 30,- are really the deal breaker at the moment you need to wait a bit.

Pricing for CSR E is still based on airfreight but perhaps we should just offer both options so the customers can wait if the want to pay less.

Thank you for the reply Thomas.
Definetly not a deal breaker. I was just expressing thoughts here ;) I did not think I would stir this much conversation with my original post.
But I am more interested in the BMW rim over the formula style. Personally have-not interest in the the formula style rims myself so tjhat jacks the price up around 700$.

I got time tho. The real world got in my way and my game room plans have not even started to come to fruition yet. More time to save ;)

You got it wrong... its the base that is free you only buy the rim and they include the base :dunce::dunce::dunce:

The base is just the base. The story early on was 600$ for the base and a rim. 2 rims were shown and both were confirmed to be available at launch for 600$.

I'm on my phone otherwise I'd go digging.

I'm quite sure that Thomas said in one of the preview videos, that the base would be around 450€ and the wheels would be between 150-300€.
So, both rims are in the price range. All in all, a lot of money, but I'm waiting for it to be released and will buy it.
But one thing that must be 100% in that price range: QUALITY.

Edit:
In the video attached in the link http://911wheel.de/?q=node/6112, at 10:20, Thomas states the pricing and when he shows at the F1 rim he says €150,- (now €180,- but not a huge difference) and the others will be between 150-300€/US
Base price is the same as stated before. Dont remember to have heard the pricing for the BMW GT rim, but I assumed that it would be higher than the F1 rim.

PS: not a fanboy, just trying to give some information.
I would also love it, if all these goodies were not even half the price or even free :sly:

No worries on thinking your a fanboy. The only similar gear I ha e owned is fanatec, and plan on the csw and shifter in the future. If a v2 csp upgrade kit becomes available that would also be a purchase.

So I fall into the fanboy catagory.

Currently using PWTS & CSP customized by myself for left foot braking. Had loads of fun tinkering(developing:sly:) with the workings of the CSP's. Connected the clutch pedal to the brake pedal for a much more rigid and stable feeling. (disconnected the clutch wiring from the pcb) Put some narrow foam under the foot rest/ heel plate to stop a creaking/clicking noise it was doing and is now silky silent :sly:
I would apply to be a CSW tester as I have approximately 14hrs a day free to dedicate to it, alas i only have a netbook when it comes to a PC and am worried i would run into difficulties updating firmware and such with it :nervous:
I am in love with the BMW GT rim :bowdown: and simply cannot wait for more news, and details etc etc
Best of luck to everyone who applies for CSW tesing, you are/will be very lucky people indeed.

The Freebee's he's chucking out to people who ordered this.

Looking forward to learning what the improvements and full feature list on this product are.
It is a lot of dosh for a wheel and maybe quite frankly too much for just PS3/console usage.

It's like buying a super car to use for school runs. :)

Thomas, do something extra special with the packaging.
Hope it includes a rim/stand holder...

Yeah I was really looking forward to this wheel. I just cant justify $700 for a steering wheel. This is from a guy who spent $250 to upgrade my brake pedal. Still cant see where the $500 upgrade is compared to a g27. Maybe someone can help me see it?

I do not see much enthusiasm compared to CSR Elite wheel :)

I think that boils down to lack of any new info. There are still features we Dont know about. There really hasn't been any news since the csr:e and csr lines dropped. Other than price.

Not that there is much Info to give as thebases are so similar.
Maybe any info on the csw should havebsen held back until after the elite hype died down.

Really? Where are you looking?

I can't speak for everyone of course, but I know there are more than a few of us who only bought the CSR-E because it came out before the CSW. This CSR-E is going up for sale as soon as I do a run-in test of the CSW for a couple days.

Well I can't look everywhere but here and on a few other forums that I do follow I do not see much response compared with when CSR E was coming out.

Maybe I'm wrong, just pointed my impression out.

I very much agree with you on this.

But that test had duel hype surrounding it. As well as Xbox compatible. That extends the potential testing base quite a bit.
Also the deposit required now may be scaring some off. I don't have a problem with that and honestly was shocked there wasn't one.
As I said in a couple posts, the csw is still in my sights, but I am not as excited as I was 4 months ago about it.
Like I said in my last post, maybe a mistake to announce the csw so early.

People didn't have to pay half up front for the CSR-E either.

I think in general there will be more for the CSR-E, just because it's cheaper wheel.

Also, there were many people waiting for Fanatec's newest offering, including me. But now that many people have the CSR-E and the general impression is that the CSW base is essentially the same, that's eliminating many people from applying as a tester as well.

My excitement hasn't dropped even a little bit, because I want my formula wheel and GT wheel with quick release. Every time I touch the POS wheel rim on my CSR-E, it gets me even more excited for the CSW.
