You don't base it off of any past racing history?
Nope. Just because they were good at a certain race last year (or years past) doesn't mean they will be good this year. I pay more attention to who is good now.
I didn't want to show my hand earlier, but now that the race is over...
History shows that Kyle Busch has won the Spring Richmond race the last 2 years in a row (now 3). It also shows that Denny Hamlin has won the fall race the last 2 years in a row.
Further research will show that Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch combined have won 6 of the last 7, (now 7 of the last 8) short track races in Sprint Cup.
Kyle's average finish for the last 9 races at Richmond: 5.1
Denny's: 7.5
These were the 2, I blindly picked 2 weeks ago.
I was quite surprised to see, that very few people picked these 2.
My 3rd pick was between Harvick and Gordon, because of their past success (15/18 top 10's combined over the last 4 years at Richmond).
Not that it mattered with this layout(both outside of 10th), but I went with Harvick, because Gordon was unhappy with his Car in practice and Harvick's only complaint was that his hood didn't line up with the cowl correctly, lmao.
1,2,12 isn't bad though.
The main thing I found interesting was your choice of Regan Smith, after claiming to pick 'who's good
now' because his average finish for 2011 is 20something, not to mention his previous best finish at Richmond was 21st.
Was a damn good race though, far more aggressive than I was expecting to see, even for a short track!
