I would have to say the EVO 7 GT-A with a oil change, not fastest but it simply hangs onto the corners like its on rails with the right amounta control.

They're good, but there are better too. I personally don't like the Yellowbird so much, the BTR is better to my taste.

Some of my favourites for lapping the Ring:

WRX STi Spec C (N2's) - Searching for the 8min mark
NSX-R (N3's) - Absolutely perfect, and so fast for it's p/w ratio.
BMW M5 (N3's) - Anything faster gets sloppy on street tires.
DB9 (Full-tune w/o NOS or downforce, S3's) - Fast fast fast.
M3 GTR Race Car (R5's) - C'mon, a given.
787B (R5's) - By far the easiest to drive of the prototypes. Great sound to boot.

Off the top of my head, there are two that come to mind.

'98 Subaru 22B-Built and my '63 Vette-also built.

Not the fastest around the ring. But definately fun to take around.

Mine would have to be the M3 GTR.........I swear that car was made for that track, it's such a blast in that car.

That is a fun car to drive, and reasonably good looking.

What's not to like?

It's a stodgy WWD saloon that's built for comfort, not for speed. I used to have a DS and that, though utterly beautiful, was no sports car. I do prefer precision in my handling....

The ASL Garayia Race Car. Best car for 500,000 credits. Second fav, is the Korean Hyundai Accent '01 Rally Race Car. That thing is sweet.

M3 CSL is my favorott for the 'Ring

IMO, the SL 500 is fun and smooth to drive there. And same with the Merc 190E DTM.

I have tried the normal M3 at the 'Ring, and it seems like it's slow. Though I imagine the higher powered M3's are better at going fast.

Lotus Elise Type 72 '01

I've yet to find a more "In the Zone" car for the Ring, the first few laps you find yourself taking corners a gear too low, and then when you push it, you find it just as smooth and predictable as you could want...I swear it has to have measurable downforce.

I like the BMW M3 CSL and the BMW 2002 on that track. I also like running many vintage RWD cars around the ring like the Datsun 510, Toyota 2000GT and the E-Type Jaguar.

Most German cars feel at home there.

That video is great, but I had already taken a bunch of laps round the ring in the car before I watched the video. I first realized it when I went head to head against my cousin, he was in the Audi RS6 (over 100hp handicap for me) and I took him out good. That was my first trip around in the GTR and it just blew me away. I should have made a poll about this, the GTR would be well in the lead.........kinda like the video, lol.

I'm not suprised you won that race, the M3 GTR has a huge weight advantage over the RS6.

I forgot to mention it earlier but the Z06 Corvette is actually very good around the 'Ring too. It's got a lot of grip and a usefully powerful and torquey V8. I suspect it would be a nice challenge for a M3 CSL or GTR.

2 faves.

Buick '62. Open diff, and original suspension (not independant at the rear!). Whack in a supercharger, add some R3s and switch of the driving aids. You'll be lighting up the rear end until you hit 4th gear!

FPV F6 Typhoon, fully worked. Don't scoff 'till you've tried it. This thing is a beast, and handles beautifully 'round the ring!

I love the Mazda 787B for ripping as very very quick laps (at least for me), and I feel a sense of accomplishment afterwards.

But for real fun, I would have to say the BMW M3 (E43) or the M5 (E60) would be my two favorite.

Well it was my first real trip around it too, where I actually tried to remember the track. My first lap was 8min something, and my second, I cut about 30 seconds off that. I was able to stay ahead of the long straights, because of that weight advantage, I could come out of the corner at a higher exit speed.

I like lapping the 'ring in my Jag XJ220 roadcar and the Racecar. Followed by my SS Chevelle, and then the Lotus Europa. I know the Europa's ooglay, but it handles like a dream.

Also the BMW GTR is a cool Ring Warrior, I kinda like the CSL maybe a touch better though maybe because its more playfull. The Evo MR is cool as well, can get some nice 4 wheel drifts going with it
