I've been pack free for.....ever. Never touched Ultimate Team, whole idea seemed too pay-to-win to me.

For anyone playing Career Mode, I can't recommended Lacina Traorè strongly enough. He is a monster! Also, Marchisio is outrageously good as a true CM. He can play CAM or CDM also, but he really shines as a box-to-box CM.

You don't need to pay anything, I have never spent any real money in UT. Also average teams are as good if not better than the top teams, I just like using the big name players.:)

On another note when EA give me something very good in a pack the giveways can start. Since that won't happen if you are happy with small things (10-30k) then maybe I can afford that next week, we'll see.:sly:

Traore is pretty stupendous. Someone who is 6'7" should not have 79 pace, yet he does.

Been playing UT today and it's been nice. Had an outing with all three of my teams again. Eredivisie team was probably the weakest, which is to be expected, seeing as it is the weakest. Tried Altidore today but he seemed rather inconsistent, ballooning easy shots over but scoring a nice chip shot today as well.

My Serie A team was best again today. Played a handful of games with them today, tried out Borja Valero for the first real time today and he was superb. Hardly played a pass wrong, was all over the pitch in good spots, even got a nice long shot goal right after asking "How good is his long shots?" Needless to say, the shot gave me an answer right away. Certainly recommended, and because he's Spanish, he can link up Serie A/Liga BBVA easily. Lamela was also awesome today, the way he hits his finesse shots beggars belief, even if he doesn't always seem to live up to his skill level. Gomez also did well as always, and gave Milito a try as well, was certainly good enough for me. An Argentine front three like that creates chaos for defenses.

I only played one game with my 4-3-2-1 hybrid but it was a good one, in the featured cup against Chelsea. Arnautovic was superb, and Narsingh scored a properly quality goal, got onto a through-ball, just went round John Terry like he wasn't there and hit a perfect finesse into the net. Beautiful. Juninho was also a great asset today.

I also saw one of my mates' Argentine teams today, and I was distinctly underwhelmed by it. His goalie was Krul, who is Dutch, he was using Lamela in the wrong place, at RM, and he had kept him at RW anyway (in a 3-4-1-2! what :dunce: ), his LM was fast but had was only 3*, his CMs were both CAMs, which is death in a 3-back formation, and he had possibly the two most overrated players in the game on the team in Pastore and Zarate, who honestly do nothing that anyone else will do. And at the end of all of it, he only got 95 chem anyway because he had left so many player's positions as they were. This is what I'd have an Argentina team like:

dreamteamargentine.jpg

The goalie might look weak, but he really isn't: he's genuinely among the top bronze keepers in the game, maybe even in the game period. Honest.

Zabaleta is kinda enforced because there are no other good RBs. Mascherano is the best pure defender in the game, no joke. Garay is very solid, Monzon has incredible shooting stats. I would alternate between him and the super-fast Ansaldi.

D'Alessandro is 5* and has the dribbling, Guinazu provides defensive cover, Lobos is a fairly decent player.

Lamela's dribbling is sublime, Gomez is very well rounded and Araujo is very, very underrated.

I'm already part of the way there obviously because I already have Lamela and Gomez, even in the right positions. But the whole team overall costs just 40k, and nearly 3/4 of the price comes from Mascherano and Monzon. And yet there's hardly a weakness in it. Only the lack of pace is a slight issue, with Gomez being the only player with true real pace, and even then he isn't as fast as the top. But honestly, you don't need pace.

And with that, I now have the rest of my weekend to enjoy on this thing. :)

CAM
First in line.

Yes of course.:) Just how much I can give away will depend on what I get in packs, how much I have to pay for IF Hernandez and what the TOTW is next week.:sly:

I have not even had an IF from packs this year yet too, my best is Ramos but I'll have spent as much coins as I got but I enjoy opening packs and collecting things too.:dopey:

I would love to get an IF for any one of the players on one of my teams. Unfortunately, Milito is the only player on my Serie A team that has that luxury at present, and he's not the most important player for me, even if he is the highest rated. Mertens and Altidore both have IFs but again, they don't have particular importance to me. Filipe Luis' IF for my 4-3-2-1 hybrid would be nice though...

I feel sure that at least one good player in my Serie A team will get an IF soon though.

Played a friend when I had people over today, tied in the 90'. I did a rainbow flick over Valdes with Benzema, but he tackled me legally somehow. However, the ball rolled slowly toward the goal line, and Puyol came sprinting in to clear it. Valdes figured it'd be a great idea to follow suit, and when Puyol drilled the clearance it smashed Valdes in the face and careened right back into the net. Epic win .

The key word in all of that is Valdes.

Somehow he just is terrible in FIFA.

Me and the three neutral guys died laughing, he was so pissed.

I'd break stuff if I was him. Just be happy he didn't

He has a habit of throwing my controllers when he's over here... :scared:

I found out there very fragile be others breaking mine.. :( well Atleast pre DS3 they were. Seem to be able to take mild abuse now

Yeah if I throw its against a cushion.

I'm thinking instead of saving up for FC Bayern players doing a Premier League team of 10k or up players would be easier.

Contracts are really starting to annoy the crap out of me on ultimate team, why can't you sign players for the whole tournament or season? It would be more realistic, and a hell of a lot easier :grumpy:

I have way too many contracts thanks to all of the packs. All the players on all 5 of my squads have over 60 contracts remaining. And my Consumables pile is half full of gold shiny contracts. I suppose I need to play some more games eh?

Well, at least you can be assured that they'll be available at all times. Can't say the same for myself. Never able to really keep my player's contracts up, which is annoying.

Someone a while backed tipped that you should make sure you give player's contracts at different times and don't just wait for them to run out, that way you never get 3/4 run out at once, which can be a pain. I now do this and recommend you do if you don't.

This works. The other thing that will help is using a manager that has the contract bonus. That will help a little bit in the long run.

Mine doesn't do anything. It has a 3% bonus on contracts but it always has a zero bonus whenever I apply a card.

The bonus is not applied when you add a card. The bonus is just dealt with over time. I guess every 30 games you play you get a free contract or whatever.

Gotcha. So my Premier League team is a 4-5-1 with Given, Santon, Jagielka, Djourou, Zabaleta, Dempsey, Tiotè, Kagawa, Arteta, Ben Arfa, and Ba. It's a little bit hard to play with I suppose.

If I were in charge of a BPL team, it'd look a little something like this...

This actually costs closer to 100k, which is one of my more expensive 'planned teams'. Half the money comes from the two blue Manchester players though, primarily Mario.

De Gea is my favourite general goalie, especially as a Man U fan. To be fair his handling and positioning are fairly shabby but his other stats are great and he's over the 190cm requirement for the top goalies.

Richards, M'Bia and 'Still not as fast as' David 'Mad' Luiz are great all-rounders, and Richardson has a hell of a shot. Just don't confuse him with Richards on the other side. lol

Fellaini is another all-rounder, Scholes' passing beggars belief obviously, and Sessegnon is super skilled.

Dyer is fast with skill, Balotelli is just stupendous all-round (highest rated player with no specialty I think this time. Before it was Pepe, poor guy), and Assaidi is the resident 5* skiller of the team, yet he disappoints me. He was in the Eredivisie last year on the same team as Narsingh and Dost, at 4*, but as soon as he moves to the Scouse, he gets 5*. Why couldn't he have at least stayed in the Eredivisie for a little longer?! Then the league as a whole could have had at least one 5* player, following Chanturia's nerfing down to 4* and lower dribbling this year (though he wasn't even in UT). Damnit!

I'm also working on one Brazil skill team which costs literally under 10k. Almost everyone, CBs excluded, R and LB included, has at least 4*. The front 4 are all 5* as well. I haven't finished it yet, but I'll move it over to my other account once it's complete, as it's on my web app account ATM, which isn't my main.

By the way, does anyone play with the offline squads at all? Because I know a fair bit about them if anyone, like, wanna ask about some stuff there. Such as some guys not in UT and skill upgrades.

I think you should get hart or cech. De gea is a horrible keeper in real life, and on the game. Makes the same mistakes that valdes does on the game.

Yes, they're both good goalies, but they're bloody expensive. And De Gea is certainly not horrible in real life. He was very shaky at first, but he's become damn good now.

You need to get as many managers as possible with a contract bonus. I have 26% of contract bonus shared out between 12 managers, With a standard gold contract I get an extra 3 matches and with a rare gold contract card I get 7 extra. You don't have to have the manager in charge of the team you are applying contracts to, just in your club.

Oh really? I guess they have to be different managers though. And do they have to be correct formation?

Any manager, (any formation or level) with a contract bonus. I was selling the managers that didn't fit my formations before I stumbled upon it. It's the same as normal staff, they all put there points into the relevant pot, be it fitness, heading, morale etc. So, don't sell any staff!

Interesting. I never knew that. So if I just go buy a bunch of managers for 200 with 3% contract bonuses I'd get all of them? Do I have to pay contracts for all the managers?

Not sure if a out of contract manager gives the bonus, I would guess it does.

I have been buying all staff members that I don't have.👍 It helps when you use a bronze card, a good bonus puts another 40 or 50 % to it's original value.
