Geez, the OP must not like every single GT game then.
Just the ones that were released half finished.
Geez, the OP must not like every single GT game then.
They should have included McLaren F1 cars.
The whole damn game is now ruined![]()
Who's CURRENTLY got cars in the top levels of motorsport? Not Porsche.
Seriously thogh, like katsu said, burn the game, log off GTPlanet, go outside, find a friend.
I don't carE too much for F1 cars in gt5. I'm happy with F1 2010 if I want to race f1 cars
I was just kidding
I've learnt a valuable lesson from GT5, just because a car is the fastest, doesn't mean it's the most fun to drive.
Like the X1 for example.
When I first heard about it, I was really excited and couldn't wait to drive it.
Now I don't want to drive it at all.
I would rather drive a Fiat 500 at Eiger Nordwand K Trial![]()
![]()
I would be laughing my head off![]()
I always knew that tbh after many episodes of top gear where they buy £1,000 cars etc. How about giving me all your X1s then![]()
The 512BB is pretty bad lol, but I just really hate how they took a beautiful car and turned it into that....thing with the SP1. I just really hate the shape.
Just make sure the friend own's a porsche or might have to burn and hate him too. 👍
I don't like that my '96 Ford Fairmont Wagon isn't in the game.
Also I really wanted a race series dedicated to ride on lawnmowers.
Oh and I want the way I drive to work to have a 3000km race based around it. Only 263 laps.
Can some one explain why the colour 'see through' only appears when I roll a car and only flashes in and out.
Why can't Bob wash my cars as punishment for hitting the same barrier 12 laps in a row in a 20 lap race causing him to lose.
But the game isn't ruined for me.
So my doctor can't find his car in the game.
80's Le Mans porsches were awesome.
The current 'Porsche Cup' cars are awesome.
I love Ford racing cars, especially Australian ones.
Why was I ranting? Forgot!
Oh yeah, no Porsches = no GT5?
GT series is about driving a Veyron, is about race modifying a Honda Civic, hearing that a Mazda Furai exists, planning to lock the front door for 2 days to run a 24 race. Painting a TVR matte pink because it makes smile, taking a photo of your favorite car to show your friends the car you virtually own, spending 3 hours doing burnouts whilst drinking with the boys at your house and trying to perfect the pitt maneuver on endourance races to stay interested.
I love my Bob! I love my Suzuki Cappacino! I'm growing into my relationship with GT5.
There are just not enough threads like this. But of all the complaint threads this is the dumbest one.
Why?
1. Because it was well know that Porsche would not be in the game.
If you knew that not having Porsche in a racing game was a deal breaker for you then why did you buy the game?
Personally, if I played this game with a gamepad I would hate it too. The best thing about this game by far is the great feel of the cars with a wheel.
I was thinking about it today, and I think I have finally figured out the one thing that really kills the enjoyment of GT5 for me.
I was thinking about all the things about it that I don't like, such as the half hearted implementation of most of the features (looking at you weather and day/night) and the fact that there's really only about 200 cars in the game with a huge supporting cast of cars that look like they're from a PS2 game. Couple that with the less than spectacular car feel through the controller (I'm not going to spend money on a wheel for a game that should be playable with stock equipment) and the absolutely terrible AI, and you would think that I'd found the cause of my dislike.
But no, none of those things, even put together, really kill the game for me. I can get past cars that look bad, limp controller feedback and spotty implementation of weather and time change. I can even get over the AI being so slow it's laughable. But there is something which I can not overlook.
This game claims to be the Ultimate Driving Simulator. It is sold as a racing game, and fancies itself to be quite the king of the console racing mountain. And yet, it lacks the most definitive name in sports car racing of all time.
Porsche.
Who has the most Le Mans 24 hour victories? Porsche. Who has the most Daytona 24 hour victories? Porsche. Who dominated Can-Am so much that it killed the series? Porsche. Who has the most GT wins in ALMS? Porsche. What manufacturer numerically dominates almost all track day lapping events? Porsche. Who has been a household name in sports car racing for 60 years? Porsche. There truly is no substitute.
Who is NOT in GT5? Porsche.
Even those who profess to be 'Porsche haters' have to admit, there is no other manufacturer that can equal the accomplishments of Porsche. No one has been as good for as long, and no one has a more pedigreed racing heritage than them. Sure, Ferrari has been racing for just as long, and they've dominated F1 for the past decade, but when it comes to sports cars, they've played second fiddle to the men from Stuttgart for half a century.
The lack of this incredible manufacturer in GT5 is a tragedy. What is PD's excuse? Other games have managed to secure licensing to have Porsche in them (Every Forza game, Need for Speed, TDU, PGR, etc.) so why couldn't PD manage? And don't try to say that Ruf counts, because they don't. There's no Ruf race cars, no Ruf premiums, and there's only 4, the newest of which is like 10 years old.
PD developed this game for years. They put untold millions into creating this experience, and they included a staggering variety of cars. How did they manage to miss one so glaringly obvious? The fact that they did, to me, screams that this game is unfinished as much as all the other problems put together. It's a shame, and it kills my desire to play the game knowing that there's such a gaping hole.
Am I alone in this feeling? Does anyone else feel that for a game concerning cars to be the 'Ultimate' anything, it should at least have the ultimate racing manufacturer?
If you would have done your home work you would have known they can't get Porsche because EA has got the license. What PD did to ease our pain is add the RUFs. We should be thankful for that...
So how is Porsche in Forza Motorsport 3? A game developed after EA bought the Porsche license and not published by EA.
Before GT5 was released, I would have agreed with the OP that all those problems could be potential dealbreakers. However, there's one thing I cannot get over.
The "racing" is BORING.
Races should be competitive no matter what car your driving.
Yeah sure how can they have an exclusive deal with EA when PGR and Forza all have Porsche.I guess GT4 and the other GTs past are also ruined for you then.
Of course I'd love to drive a Carrera GT in GT5, but Porsche has an exclusive deal with EA (NFS franchise). Instead, GT gets RUF (not quite the same, but they do what they can).
TRY FORZA IS HAS OVER 35 PORSCHESBrit999 Junior Member
I too wish they had Porsche in the game. However, PD do not have a license for Porsche, but they have done the next best thing and included a few RUF models to satisfy our curiosity. Iirc EA have the license for Porsche, and they are not going to allow PD to have that license cheaply.
Go and play Test Drive Unlimited 2 (or any other racing game) for half an hour. Then come back here and tell me its not a good idea to have "huge supporting cast of cars that look like they're from a PS2 game".
I would rather have the 1000+ cars in GT5 (in any resolution), than the pitiful array of cars in that and many other games. Most of the Car Models in GT5 are fantastic. Some are ok. All of them drive differently, and provide some sense of "difference" from each other. Lots of other racing/driving games out there increase the speed of the screen refresh for each car, but do little else with the physics.
I played TDU2 for an hour today, and honestly thought I had traded my PS3 in for a PS2. I will not be playing it again. I am sure my Son will love dressing up his Avatar and having hair cuts, buying clothes, houses and watching cut scenes of scantily clad polygons.
Me? I am going to take a Yellow Bird for a spin around the ring, and pretend I am in a Porsche...
Comes back to the bad AI really. Even if you build a car down to be enough slower that they have a chance, they're so horrendously bad at racecraft that it's like a cruel parody of what a race should be.
As for online, well, yeah. First, let me say that the XBox 360 does online way better than the PS3. Heresy, I know, but bear with me.
The 360 comes with a headset, which means that there are very few people online who don't at least posses a means of verbal communication. In a racing game, your view is restricted by what is shown on the screen, and there isn't really an effective means of quickly looking around your car like you can in real life. This means that in order to know where people are around you in close racing, it's extremely helpful to be able to verbally communicate with them. The PS3 online is rife with people (myself included) who don't have a headset for whatever reason. This is almost definitely because you have to buy one separately.
This lack of verbal communication makes it very difficult to have a good, close race in GT5 online. Now, I realize that this isn't PDs fault, but there is a feature that would have mitigated the impact this has on close racing. Forza has a little box in the upper right that displays your current distance to the nearest car in front of you and behind you. This makes it significantly easier to quickly tell if you have space to perform whatever maneuver you are hoping to do, and has to be one of the single most useful parts of the HUD. Why is this absent from GT5?
Not the same, really, not even closeI never understand the whole Porsche thing. There's 5 freakin' RUF cars in the game, which are just the same Porsches you would end up with after modding the stock ones to the moon and back anyway.
We only assume there was a deal made between Microsoft and EA. There is some rumors (I don't know if it's true) Fm4 will not have Porsche.
