haha webber; "i'd like to win the next race, i don't know which country it's in"... Take note bernie even the drivers don't know anymore 👍

i think that was actually a dig at vettel; it's the german gp next week. ;)
A dig at Bernie or one at Vettel...; both are satisfying for mister dog :D

SilverArrow
Wouldn't that have affected the cars in GP2/GP3 too though?

Maybe a combination of the load the f1 cars put on the tires and kerbs.

If it was all on the tires then surely someone wouldve had a right puncture at some point. .??

How exactly you know things better than drivers and team directors that are on tracks doing actual racing ? Just to know.

It can either atm, if it was Pirelli's fault we'll know about it soon, in the mean time I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

Well apparently for Perez the blowout was in a straight so dunno really. I'll just wait to see what's happpening.

Has anyone considered there may be a certain kerb on the track damaging the tires.....

Very likely. Most of the punctures happened in the same area. It's possible that the kerbs there were especially... square? Might be the general wear, heat and stress was very bad on those tires in the first stint, and even just a borderline bump from that kerb was enough to cause the failure.

Yes, but with Fred Flistones car, not this year car.

Um actually the car from 2011 is 4 tenths to half a second slower...not really fred flinstone. Also the data from that car still can help the similar spec 2013 car so... Also they ran more than 1000km.

Imagine the chances of only rear left tyres failing. Must be debris or kerbs fault, can't be the tyres surely...

Happy that Lewis spoke out and some of the other drivers.

It was, and if you think Mark was epic in the last 10-20 laps...next weekend he should be even more to just smash Vettel and deny him one of the few wins he needs.

I'm already looking forward to the remainder of the season, i always tought Webber couldn't cope with Vettel because 1: he always had the bad luck + 2: he's a big guy thus more heavy than fingerboy and always loosing a couple of tenths of a second per lap.

But if he manages to fustrate the little german, and take vital points away (screw multi 21 :D), then that would be great!

You'd say that even though the left tires get more load and wear at Silverstone....

I think the weight of the driver + the car is fixed anyway. Webber and Vettel + their car will weight the exact same things. Not a 100% sure but close.

And still their performance in quilifying completely sucks. The didn't get issued by FIA, so going by the logic in this forum, it's all ok let's move on. :)

I get it's the British GP but Massa did pretty much identical to Hamilton and yet gets hardly a mention :P

I tought it was only minimum weight allowed for the car and that's it? Don't know the specifics tough :)

With the left rear tires blowing is not surprising. With turns like Abbey, Copse, Maggott-Becketts, and Stowe, lots of stress is on the tires already before the kerbs and debis.

They do that on purpose, they give up being on the top two grid spots, for fresher tires and better overall race pace, while MGP and RBR go for more one lap race speed and thus have to usually pit more than Lotus and Ferrari. Yeah it's okay to move on, but when people skew the facts like you did...that isn't okay.

So who will supply tyres next year? Because after today and the hearing I'm really doubting it'll be Pirelli.

Someone with a video of what happen'd to Gutierrez? FOM tried to censor it.

What is it with your nonsense theories? The camera didn't quite catch it because it was focusing on the next car but we saw enough to see it was white painted carbon flying in the air and not black rubber like the rest.

How can you fully blame Pirelli though, and thus we still need to understand the full issue of today before blame can be given. Also the FIA are far more to blame than anyone else yet again, and they need to do a better job of coming with the tire maker. FIA set the standards of what tires they wanted F1 to use.

As for HKSRacer... who knows, but they are almost as bad as JGreens

What impressed me was how Massa front tyre gets scrabled when he spun out. Pirelli tyres are made with chewingum.

So BBC is explaining that it could be the kerbs. And it seems very plausible.

na because after each GP they test driver weight + the car weight. So it's a combination of both I think.

After Massa's rupture I said the same thing. I'd assume possibly Goodyear or Michelin again, personal opinion of course, but we'll just have to see over the next few days.

However, it does depend on the circumstances that caused the failures, as the BBC were explaining.

I'm not blaming Pirelli, i'm saying that with all the pressure and bad press against their name they aren't going to want to extend their contract IMO.

Gary Anderson has just had a look at the Turn 4 kerbs. Where the rumble strip ends on the inside, there's an extra half metre of concrete, but the rumble strip ends with a (relatively) sharp edge at about the right height to put a hole in the inside shoulder.

Even if it is all Pirelli's fault , a new tire supplier would probably already need to know by now to have tires ready for 2014.

Give them some credit - Pirelli have given the FIA/ FOM exactly what they wanted in tires. No need to throw them under the bus yet .

I have italian Sky Sport not british Sky Sport, in my Sky Sport appeared a slow motion where they indicated with an arrow the Rolex brake mark as possible cause of tyre explosion? LOL even commentators where kind of surprised by that.

That's not exactly enough.

That's true, they were quite heated after last time. Does anyone remember which teams cried about not switching tire construction?

Lotus, Ferrari and Force India..

True wouldn't make sense of them standing on the scale each time indeed 👍

I'm pretty sure they're standard kerbs though, they're all like that at every track. Also even if it was the cause the tyres shouldn't really be destroying themselves so catastrophically.

Lotus, Ferrari and Force India..

I remember Lotus doing it, thanks from reminding me of those other two as well. I doubt the construction/bonding of the canvas will change it that much. Clearly the tires will go longer a bit but at the cost of being safe, it is worth it.
