I knew I should have put Di Resta as fifth on my prediction for the race. Alonso and more so Ferrari in general look horrid this weekend. I guess it was wishful thinking on my part to put Alonso there instead of Paul..

I expect Alonso and Raikkonen to both cut forward in the race but from 9th and 10th they're going to struggle to get better than 3rd/4th.

They need the Mercedes to stay ahead for as long as possible.

I don't see Alonso doing that well, quite optimistic of you. I think Romain, Daniel and Paul all have better cars than the Ferrari. What Ferrari need to do to make that gap is strategy more than hoping the car comes together.

Awesome stuff from Merc, I wonder if they will find it easier to gain time through aero compared to everyone else because apparently a lot of their time is found through the FRIC system. I hope they can keep this sort of form up in qualifying at least.

In the world of race pace.

We will see, but the pace wasn't their during practice even and the car has had a difficult weekend on both ends so I think they will be outdone. We could make a bet of it though:sly:

Yeah, but then what are lotus giving up? Because they also run a FRIC system.

We will see of course, I'm not one to make straight up predictions but just speaking generally I see Mercedes going backwards and the Ferrari's and Lotus going forward, it's very rare they don't. Gary Anderson reckons they could one stop, as well as Force India, which would put them in great position.

Awesome lap by Lewis 👍, looking quite good for the race too. Hopefully Mercedes have what it takes to keep Red Bull behind this race.

Look at Paul di Resta in 5th! Great for him on his home Grand Prix. I'm really hoping he can land a career first podium. 👍

He will start last because his car was underweight. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/108424

Lotus have illegal cars too but for reasons I don't understand they're allowed to race and haven't been disqualified from past races they probably used the same parts on http://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/fia-tells-lotus-front-suspension-layout-illegal/

First Mercedes get away with cheating now Lotus do too, what the hell is going on with the FIA this year? 👎

Since Lotus has only been informed now, they have no time to change the suspension completely, so it'll have to be done by next race. Normally, these things are caught in scrutineering and the teams are told to change them there. I can't for the life of me, given how often these cars are checked by scrutineers, figure out how the FIA has missed an entire suspension component for half a season... if that is indeed what it is.

Bogus on the Di Resta penalty. If the scale is 0.5 kg off at 600 kg, then it could be off by more at 640 kg. If I were FI, I'd demand a re-weigh with a different set of scales.

The Ferrari was really not a happy machine out there today.

I was mega-impressed with the little Di Resta*, Ricciardo, Sutil train going on at 5th, 6th and 7th. Midfield teams ftw.

*Yes yes, I know.

It was good today.

Wore my coat all day. Spent the day sat at Luffield.

Happy about Lewis getting pole but I think Vettel will ultimately win.

Mega lap from Hamilton, 4 tenths gap, not bad for Rosberg's whipping boy. :)

Not confident for the race but hope to see Mercedes improve.

They get away with it because it's the FIAs fault for not noticing.

Plz Mercedes find some race pace tomorrow plz. I've been watching Ross Brawn pit strategy vs Chris Horner and I'm not liking Ross Brawn's strategy compared to Christian Horner. You guys are on heavily degrading tires so Ross Brawn bring his drivers in last is always going to be a losing strategy IMO. Christian Horner always brings his drivers in 1st for the o so important track position. Ross Brawn needs to beat Christian Horner's drivers in for once and keep their drivers track position. They can stay out for a long time on there final stint when the cars are light on fuel. I really like Ross Brawn and I want him to stay, but if he can't figure out how to pit his drivers then I won't be sad to see him go!

I think Fernando will struggle to get past the FI's.
Ricciardo might have the outright pace, but it's usually at the cost of rears.
Can't see Mercedes holding out the RB's.
Can't see Mark letting Seb have an easy win. Turning of the tables?

I'm quite upset now. Paul di Resta (who I hoped was going to do very well) has to start from the rear for being 1.5kg underweight :grumpy:

I think Alonso did his Q3 run on hards. He's going for a good race strategy over starting position I think. They might just plan to blitz everyone with their superior straight line speed.

Gonna be a very tough ask for Alonso to get onto a podium place with Ham/Vet/Web/Sut/Rai all ahead of him, in arguably faster cars.
