Come on still, Mercedes suddently able to do the whole race at a faster pace, you dont think RBR and Ferrari will complain about the illegal tyre testing again ? Mentionning how big of a jump mercedes made ?

I admit it could be other things and I'm supporting Mercedes since Lewis is there now but still.

Whole race? You're right, the safety car didn't appear once.

Race breakdown:

1. Nico Rosberg: Didn't set a foot wrong all race, despite losing out first to Vettel at the start. Kept in it. Kept calm and kept moving. Got lucky with Hamilton getting that puncture and Vettel DNF'ing, but he drove an excellent race in the midst of all the chaos. I think his first post-race comment says it all: "That's crazy stuff... that's crazy stuff!"

2. Mark Webber: Had a disastrous start, but did an excellent job getting back through the field. Great way to run his last British GP. Some gutsy overtakes there, too.

3. Fernando Alonso: There wasn't any doubt he'd be on the podium. Really. What's shocking is he didn't win.

4. Lewis Hamilton: Looked set for a comfortable win. Incredible pace. Then he lost a tire twenty miles away from the pit entrance. Went on a blinder to get back up into the points, and then some. Best drive of the day, I'd think.

5. Kimi Raikkonen: I can imagine the unbroadcast team radio message: "Why the 🤬 didn't we do that last pitstop?!?"

6. Felipe Massa: That Ferrari is looking pretty good. Finally. And he didn't crash this weekend. Deserves props for tat.

7. Adrian Sutil: That Force India played a big role in the outcome of the race. Compared to the front-runners, it was a rolling chicane. But you've got to recognize the excellent work he did getting it way up there at the start of the race.

8. Daniel Ricciardo: Inherits a good position off of everyone else's misfortunes.

9. Paul di Resta: Excellent recovery from that qualifying fiasco, but given what happened today, that could have been a podium...

Nobody else matters.

Big losers:

Sebastian Vettel: Poor boy. He doesnt' deserve the hate. Drove a great race the whole way. He's still likely winning this championship, so the haters shouldn't be too happy.

Pirelli: Once is an incident. Twice is a coincidence. Three times in a row is a problem. I think the FIA might be much more open to extra testing now.

Niky, it happened five times though...

I know they are ahead of Ferrari in WCC now but both drivers are now in hunt for WDC.

I don't care about WDC to be honest, I'm a big fan but I don't think they can get it. I support Webber this year for WDC.

Haha Webber; "i'd like to win the next race, i don't know which country it's in"... take note Bernie even the drivers don't know anymore 👍

I'm happy for Nico and glad Mercedes got the win. Bad deal for Daniel and Kimi I wanted Daniel to keep that 5th place. I'm glad Webber got second from fourth. Good race.

I agree safety car may have help but remember in previous race, Nico or Lewis were unable to have the pace even in the 5 first lap of the GP.

But well I'm happy that Mercedes is where they are, reason doesnt matter too much for me. They got punished for what they did by what the FIA felt was appropriate. That's it, let's move on. At least that's how I see things.

According to Ross Brawn, Lewis' car was 'heavily' damaged for the remainder of the race after his puncture, making it even more impressive that he pulled himself back through the field like that!

Och. That's four left rears during the race. Gutierrez's failure looked like a wing failure coming from the front of the car, so it's a separate incident.

The debrief will be really interesting. It may be a track-specific problem. Too many sharp kerbs plus low pressures (though Perez's puncture came very late)... most likely Pirelli will need to ask the FIA to issue a ruling on tire pressures...

At the start of the GP, Lewis was pulling out a good lead... so he might have kept it. We'll never know now.

then Mercedes has solved its tyres problems and who said the 1000km of illegal test
have not come to nothing?!!!!!!!

Great race but the FIA need to do something about that tire issue. That is very dangerous not just for the driver of the affected cars but to drivers behind as well due to the debris.

I think that was actually a dig at Vettel; it's the German GP next week. ;)

Has anyone considered there may be a certain kerb on the track damaging the tires.....

Great race (outcome), but they really need to sort them tyres pronto!

Well done! Rosberg, Webber, Alonso and Hamilton (LH, drive of the day for me). Oh, and well done! Vettel, destroyed trans couldn't have happened to a nicer man.. (i jest of course, it's unfortunate for any driver.)

They got caught, they got punished (even if you think it's too light, the FIA have sentenced them), move on.

I did during the GP. And it might be the case. Until the investigation is done, we can't really know.

Someone with a video of what happen'd to Gutierrez? FOM tried to censor it.

Did you not hear the radio chatter during the race? The engineers told drivers to stay off the kerbs of certain corners.

It was, and if you think Mark was epic in the last 10-20 laps...next weekend he should be even more to just smash Vettel and deny him one of the few wins he needs.

You do know Ferrari did them as well?
