Forza 4 Demo Thread

We are certainly not expecting too much from T10.

In fact, the only thing that we are expecting from them is to do what they told us they would in the first place: give us simulation steering without assists.

I will be purchasing the game regardless; but I do not like the fact that the staff has the audacity to outright lie to the community because they think they can get away with it.

Not everyone is a 5 year old who just wants to put Power Rangers and South Park liveries on their vehicles and drive around ramming into people.
 
This same assist was in FM 3 and many have been singing FM's virtues over the past few months in that thread. I don't understand why it is now such a huge problem for certain people when they defended FM3 to death and didn't make any mention of this assist.

It looks better, handles better, has better sounds, better ffb back, public custom lobbies are back, new tracks, new cars. Yet this one problem that was present in FM3 is suddenly a huge problem. Confused.

It is a problem because they said the assists would all be removed. They are not.

If you elect a President and his campaign is all about "no new taxes" then immediately upon inauguration he raises and implements new taxes you are telling me you wouldn't be pissed?

I don't know how to be more clear.

People are getting so much in a hussy after playing a demo. 900 degree steering issue, that may or may not be in the final game, yet people are ready to light the torches.

That's odd, i could tell a huge difference. To me Normal just felt like Forza 3, Sim Steering feels nothing like F3.

The fact there is NO options in the dem0 to use yet. The fact that it IS a demo. The fact that most people dont even use 900 degree steering. This all adds up to hype.
 
And forget bringing up the simulation assist on the FM.net forum. You are either attacked immediately by a fanboy stating that you don't know what you are talking about or in my case they are just not approving my posts.

Dan Greenawalt has already confirmed that the steering is the exact same in the full game. So it doesn't matter whether or not it is the demo.

That's not the same thing. If he claimed he was going to cut taxes, but it turned out that I was paying the same tax as before, I would be disappointed but I wouldn't be any worse off than before.

Get passed it and just think you've got Fm3 but with a vastly improved handling model, better ffb, better sounds, better looks, and all the other improvements. You haven't actually lost anything you had before but you have gained a whole lot more.

I'm not excusing them, they should have implemented it like they said. However, I've got much more a I had before without losing anything which makes me happy.

Yes i know this but with Forza games the dark side is extremly dark almost black which is exaggerated most of the time.

Regarding the demo:

I'm pretty upset that you can't look left/right with the steering wheel. (turbo s)
In Forza 3 you had "presets" with no option for button mapping. Hopefully the final version will give us that option (fingers crossed)

Yeah, that has always sucked, even with FM3. I am using Kinect head tracking to address that.

If your Xbox is on a network, you can just steam any music from your PC's. It will show up as one of your connected PC's when you select music. The Xbox sees my iTunes, and my iTunes has a few playlists of streaming radio stations (big hair, etc), and I can just stream internet music into my games.

They still listen even after the game is relased. Remember after F3 was released and everyone was complaining that it didnt have any shift annimiations? Well I think it was about a month later and T10 patched F3 with shift annimations. Plus adding hoppers for just about anything the community asked for. Those are just a couple examples. So while I agree that they do listen a little less after the game is released, they do still listen. 👍

I sure hope thats fixed for the full game. Music is the first thing I turn off. I dont have any custom sound tracks either.

A lie is a lie. Regardless of who does it and to whom they do it to. If you accept people lying to you than that is something you need to look at.

I will enjoy Forza 4; I am not saying that I won't. But I do not like be lied to by the people that I am supporting by purchasing their product.

If this is a 900 degree wheel issue; then they are still making poor choices and need to look at their physics model since their official wheel is a 900 degree Fanatec. Rather odd don't you think?

Hold up. First people say Dan lied. Now since he said its the exact same it cant be a lie? You see how...kinda ironic that is?

All I am saying is, I played the demo, it felt fine. I would like to adjust some settings though. Using 270 degrees felt fine. Using 360, felt good. 900 (which I dont use anyway), felt off....for ME. I am waiting for saturation options, and other options in the full game. Either way, I am going to get FM4 and enjoy it. I didnt notice crap as far as the assisted steering. I dont care to be honest.

Got to agree here. As said before, even with TCS on, these cars will lose grip & slide. I don't know how many times now I've been trying to set a quick lap with the Zonda (on the first challenge) and gave it too much throttle resulting in a love tap with the wall.

It's not the same thing for goodness sake. If he implemented new taxes you would be worse of than you were before, you would be paying more tax than you were before. In this situation we are exactly the same as we we were before. We are no worse off.

I don't accept people lying to me. I've already said they should have implemented as they said they would. I'm just not getting my knickers in such a twist especially considering I have sung the praises of another game that included the exact same assist for the past three months. It would be highly hypocritical of me to have defended Fm3 in the way I have and then kick up a huge fuss about an issue in Fm4 that was present in that game.

I agree, except I think I had a few full on make out sessions with the wall.
 
WOW! Tested all three cars and I am amazed. Far improvement over Forza 3. Graphics seem to be about the same, maybe a bit better. Modeling and shading look awesome.

Handling is what I was worried about and this game feels awesome. The cars handle the way I expect them IRL. I turned all assists completely off except ABS On and difficulty hard. Using a controller too.

Brilliant overall and can't wait till the 11th. STOKED!
 
Has anyone tried reaching out to Thomas from Fanatec to see what he thinks about that telemetry? (If it is indeed an assists or some type of torque transfer going on like Dan claims)

Well, I made this thread...so can we keep this on Forza 4 demo experience. There shouldn't be any GT5 discussion in here. Not really interested in talking about taxes in here either ;)

Steering assist is like the moon landing conspiracy. No matter how many proof you show people, its much more exciting to believe in a conspiracy then the plain whole truth.
