Not to agree or disagree with your opinion, but you make it sound like that was impossible...

No! But it´s funny how people can judge this by an demo... I bet these people play with an gamepad and all assists on...

Was really hoping to play the demo of this today, but apparently you need to have a gold membership to do so.That's such a shot in the arm.👎

I'm truly stumped. It seems to me the assist is there but he is so adamant that it's not. I can't believe he would say that unless he was sure but the evidence is there. Very confused.
The sudden change of the steering ratio under certain conditions is definitely there. It's annoying even if you're using a gamepad because I countersteer too much. Probably I can get used to this but that's not how it should be.

Maybe Dan/Turn10 does not call the variable steering ratio an assist because the game does not steer for you in a direct way.

He is saying that the icon is showing the torque alignment.

Basically the direction of force the tire wants to go.

Drive straight and the torque alignment is straight ahead, obviously.

Going sideways and turning into a skid the tires will naturally want to align with the direction you are going.
Rears won't obviously but the front on a rack would gravitate towards the skid.

Maybe an easier way to imagine is if you were pushing a car but the tires were turned to the left. The torque alignment would be straight ahead.
Physically the tires are pointing left. But the TA would be straight ahead as that is the way the tires would end up pointing if you pushed long and hard enough.

He says that is what the icon displays.

Would love to see an external replay to show exactly what the tires are doing.

Interesting comment nonetheless.

Edit excuse my poor explanation.
It's a difficult one. Lol.

That actually makes a lot of sense now.

To see torque alignment in all it's glory push a shopping trolley. Casters give the best example.

Well I refrained from posting anything until I put some time on the demo.
LOVE IT! Everyone pretty much covered the bases in previous posts so no need to rehash. I'm having a blast in Rivals Mode even though AI is deadset to stop me. lol. I did see a strange glitch that is going to need ironing out before release. A white Bentley was on the road , it wasn't until I was out it's glare that I seen it was a Bentley but at the wrong angle it's nothing but a glowing white light on the track. No shape or form. Just pure light. They are definitely gonna have to fix that.

Did you check the driver's name? Was it a certain J. Christ, by chance?

:D

Someone in that vid posted:
"In real life that snapping is your differentials.... it's rear wheel drive.. that's what a rwd car does..."

I'm no expert but I'd like to know how valid this is.

There is a possibility that your right but imo it shouldn't show it on the steering wheel telemetry.

Available on Friday for everyone else I think.

I hope so man.

Playing this demo will help me determine if it's worth getting the game plus a wheel. After how bad FM3 was(for me and no i won't get in to it) i was not sure if i would even give FM4 a go.From the looks of things many here are saying it's pretty good, which has me tempted to play it.

Nice theory, but the steering wheel icon is right next to the "pedals" indicators (accelerator, brake and clutch). It would be very weird if the steering icon wouldn't show actual steering position but some kind of steering torque measurement. It would be nice to have a clarification/confirmation.

Why would you put together a 'word soup' to try and justify the assist? We know it's directly changing the angle of the front wheels. There's no use trying to explain it any other way.

I've noticed one thing is that when you drive through the tunnel, the sound isn't as amplified as it was in FM3. It still gets a bit louder, but not much from what I can hear. The 458 & Zonda don't sound as loud as you would expect them to be. Again, just minor thing as tunnels will be only be on 2-3 courses, but I liked the detail there as it really showed off T10's dedication to making the cars sound realistic. :2cents:

My take on the demo was that it reminded me a lot of PGR the sense of speed and sound and the graphics have a more stylized look to them rather than "realistic". It feels like Forza is doing its own thing which I like, when most people think Forza should be more like GT and vice versa. Forza 4 just seems like a more arcadey fun game and it should stick to that.

Pros:
Steering and Physics much improved (controller only so far)
Graphics look solid (Forza has found its own style)
AI is much better at avoiding you
Hard Difficulty provides a Challenge but is possible

Cons:
Damage seems even more limited than FM3 (Just scratch decals and light dents, high quality though)
Ingame cars are no where near showroom/autovista quality (Small improvement on FM3)

Ingame models are right up there with GT5 models and damage is gr8 as well...

Its pretty much a sim...Dunno what are you trying to prove by calling it Arcade game lol....Stop being a fanboy nd enjoy the game

Anyone has a Gold trial code for me? :sly:
I dusted off my 360, excited to play this F4 demo but it won't let me... it wants my money first...??!! I won't be buying live again only to download a demo? :( :irked:

Wow, the Zonda is epic. Sound, handling, sensation of speed. That's what driving is about. :D

Lol, I was half awake when I read that. I got to the word "trolley" and it somehow translated like you were telling us to push a railroad frieght car. :dopey::dunce:

What? Did he say he didn't enjoy it?

Stop bashing for god sake. I think FM4 demo is a perfect balance between arcade and sim, and that's not a bad thing.

Did that person say that that person didn't like it?

He just said that it's not an arcade game. Gosh.

Sorry dude, PGR was a perfect balance between arecade and sim, DIRT is a perfect balance. This is a game is FAR more sim than arcade.

I've played four races with the controller on hard setting (not an expert sim racer me) and love the feeling of weight transfer and the way you can just throw yourself into the corners and drift round like Ridge Racer LOL. This is gonna be fun and a half. I wonder if the grip conditions change on hot dusty tracks.

My hunger for a replay was only partially sated by the post-race drive by.

Graphics wise it looks like the scales have fallen from my eyes compared to its predecessor (to use another J.H. Christ-related metaphor :)).

Yes, FM4 it definitely more sim than arcade. But it's all about opinions, for me this is the perfect balance between arcade and sim. Would love to see a free roam game with this kind of physics.

Yep just tested and indeed your right.

My only gripe with the demo so far (steering assist aside): I don't like making my way through the whole pack in two laps. It just promotes unclean racing. Having to go through 10 (or so) opponents in a rough four minutes sure is challenging, but I do wish that the AI was faster.

I mean, it's not easy to snag a win, but that's because I have to weave through so much traffic, not because the AI is actually fast. Granted, it seems a bit faster than in FM3, but I still feel a bit more speed wouldn't hurt. After all, I'm an average driver at best...
