Pretty close to real life if you ask me LOL!!

Nice this is where GT5 shines. Lighting, Photomode. Thats the only thing Pd really nailed in Gt5. Even though Gt5p still looks a tad bit better imo. As for the rest Forza is the game.

That's debatable.

GT5 definitely has better aero modifications for the Aventador though.

Even though the shot is extremely dark this shows where FM4 can look just as good. The lighting there looks EXTREMELY real. I just took this real quick. I'll set up a better shot later.

Lol this makes me laugh, how in the world do you think the bottom forza4 pic looks better? It's almost a glaring example of how GT5 almost looks real where Forza's model has a cartoon sheen. Still we are talking about photomode and not actual in game racing.

"...glaring example..." and "...cartoon sheen"; now those are ridiculous comments as both pics look very similar. But I guess when I think about it, there are only a VERY few areas where GT shines (by a very small margin if that) so this explains the CONSTANT focus on those few areas (Nordschleife anyone :banghead:). It's not even a close battle when all game elements are considered. Before educating myself, I too thought GT was a measuring stick.

Why do we even try to explain the Forza virtues as everyone knows that there is only one "Real Driving Simulator" :boggled:

Agreed this shot looks good and looks like a real car with the right camera settings, but I fail to see how someone can even say that the pic posted by Scaff is anywhere near the GT5 pic. It's like this forum is so blinded for there love of the game. If you wanted to argue that the camera settings were off and you posted a pic of this quality and say Forza4 can do just as good, then I agree, but to argue that previous image by scaff came even close to GT5 is just a joke.

How are we blinded? Like it has been pointed out before, most of us on ForzaPlanet originated from GTPlanet and "own" both platforms and games. We have just as much of an investment in a PS3 and GT as an Xbox and Forza. What motive would we have to campaign for Forza other than what it has to offer :boggled:

Then I clearly do not understand how someone could think the Forza 4 pic posted by Scaff did not have video game written all over it.

The only logical explanation I could come up with is BIAS towards one game.
Now you want to post an image like t.o and say Hey Forza can do this too, that makes perfect sense to me

The same can be said about the GT5 pic, both games have flaws that make them look un-realistic. I don't know anyone who couldn't separate the 2 game shots from the real shot also posted.

👍👍👍👍
This is where your credibility is running out newbielives. Those two shots are not fooling anyone. And they're EQUALLY not fooling anyone. To be extremely honest the GT5 shot looks like something out of EA's camp. I'm being honest here. At no point did I have to take any second looks at those shots. NOTHING and I mean NOT A THING about either of those shots are "almost real". Sorry man but as of right now there's only one person looking "blinded" at the moment.

I literally thought to myself maybe I'm biased and went to the previous page to look at the pics again, and nope still have no idea how you can say what you are saying but, you are entitled to your opinion

Just curious who you are trying to get to see things your way? I mean its been said many, many, times that most everyone in this section did/does play GT5.

You are not showing anything new or something that most of us have already seen. You know why? Because GT5 was/is in our gaming library. Thats alot more than you can say for yourself. Coming to debate 2 things, and having little to no knowledge on one of them.

So I am guessing you are here to make yourself feel better for not being able to play FM4. Sour Grapes. Which while sad, I totally understand, because I would be upset too, if all I had was GT5.

and a fairer comparison for the second pic, Forza don't have a pure studio environment so still not a straight comparison.

both game look very sweet in such modes but real photorealistic shots are often less vibrant, so still ain't fooling anyone.

Not being able to play forza4?, I own forza, forza2,forza3 and forza 4 dude

Check vsubarau im not sure why my windows login is vsaubarau, its been screwed up since getting a replacement xbox due to red ring
its not found on my forza...and on xbox.com you have a total of 40 gamerpoints which are all from dirt 3, its impossible to not get some points if u play forza, u get 10 for completing yr first race or buying yr first car...

It's absolutely unbelievable how you just completely miss the jagged shadows on the GT5 model or the terrible textures of the tarmac and painted tarmac. Take those away and the GT5 pic wins but you can't just ignore those things. The jagged shadows on the front bumper are the first thing your eye see's, you are immediately drawn to it, so it's obvious straight away that it's a game. It's pretty obvious to anyone that's actually looked at the real world it's a game anyway but that just smacks you in the face that's it's pretend.

And that shadow is typical of the main problem I have with GT5. In so many ways it is a fantastic experience but there are so many other things that are poorly implemented or just plain wrong that ruins the hard work done with the things they got right.

You are right, these are opinions here. Problem is it's straining the credibility of your opinion if you can honestly say that the GT5 pic looks "almost real". Nobody here, and I mean not one person here is even remotely fooled into thinking that looks "almost real". So what's going to happen in the future people are going to take your opinion as not meaning much. I'm not trying to be funny or anything but if that really looks to you as being almost real I would have to say go get your eyes checked. I'm being sincere, not trying to be funny.

This one is really boggling my mind. I just can't possibly see how you can say that. It's screaming "game" all day. Aside from the hacksaw shadows it's a really nice model but I'm not seeing "almost real" anywhere. One thing both games seem NOT to do well is bright sunlight. They both excel in certain lighting conditions but bright sun is neither's strong suit in my opinion. Not saying all cars look bad in the sun but I just find that it's pretty easy to tell it's a game.

Really intresting discussion here. However, I do think that GT5 lighting model manages to generate more realistic stuff.. But just in photomode or sometimes in replays (when blocky shadows don't appear).

I mean, just visit gtplanet's "Realistic Photos Thread" and FM.net's one (just because of forum size). An I do agree with a statement that Forza's lighting is a bit overdone with bloom and colors saturation. But I personally don't mind it, because I know these are videogames and we want cars to look as beautiful as they can be. And sometimes I just can't believe how beautiful cars can be in Forza's homespace.

I like gt5 better because of all the DLC's

Funny because that's what alot of people are saying about FM4. The game is barely 3 months old and already 3 DLC packs and a bunch of little pack give-a-ways and comprehensive meaningful patches have already come out.

This pic fooled me for a sec.

Edit : Oh, and not sure what you mean by "real photorealistic shots" :boggled:

Thats a great idea , take away the tarmac and for a second before you notice the shadows you think you are looking at a picture of a real world object be it the car or toy model of a car but one quick look at the oversaturated inaccurate cartoon sheen of the forza pic and you know its a computer generated model. For me this not even arguing about gt vs forza its that how can we even begin to discuss game vs game when there is so much bias that no one can admit in those pics gt obviously looks a whole lot more real than the forza pic. If gt was a 6 out of 10 to looking real then that specific forza pic is a 2 out of 10 as for the new forza pic above id give it a 8 out of 10 if not for the wheel rims

I'm not sure you know what over-saturation actually is.

Oh, and for the record, I'm not sure what it is you're seeing or looking at but neither of the two look photorealistic. At all.

No, no and thrice no. One look at the GT5 pic, even without the glaringly obvious problems, you know it's not real. And you scream bias in your post when quoting my post that clearly says...

Take those away and the GT5 pic wins

...how on earth does that show bias? The vast majority of us here state that at it's best GT5 is a better looking game but it's best is not a true representation of it's mean. The distribution of quality is far higher than that seen in FM4.
