Forza Horizon 5: General Discussion

I'm a middle aged man myself and I can jump into my car and drive around Mexico to, but I realize that I couldn't do what I want to do. Not without the inevitable high cost, fines, injuries, and possible death.
This games direction pleases many but I see it as a Lego racer that could of been a fun, challenging open world simulation.

I'm glad it isn't, because it likely would have died out extremely fast and we'd have no Forza Horizon. That they went for fun instead of a full on sim is the better concept for both the brand, and the players.

And this is the biggest thing. By this point, it's clear most of those types of people would be better off just playing Assetto Corsa and playing in LA Canyons.

Anyone on the next gen S/X have any issues with Xbox DVR recordings having constant flickers? It's only happening when I view them from a PC for some odd reason but it never ever looks like that while I'm actually playing the game. Wasn't sure where else to post it so I figured I'd ask the fine people here. Examples down below, Using the Series S.

It's a lot more prominent on the Back 4 Blood recording than the Diablo 2 one. Wondering if the boost on FPS to certain games are causing it. D2r is in performance mode for 60FPS, but B4B doesnt have a selection though I'm unsure if it gets an FPS boost on next gen, which I'm thinking it does.

Hmmm maybe its just my end. I haven't heard anyone make any mention of it on the videos I share so I'm guessing its just the PC on my end?

Annnnnd done - put them both, D2R is a lot harder to notice but there's just as much NSFW within that as well lol.

It seems that many times one drivatar is overtaking another drivatar just before the pair approaches the player car from the opposite direction, resulting in either a frontal crash or else brutally forcing the player off his own lane… I’m already irritated by this from just watching these videos, I’m not even playing myself.

While playing the game normally (without switching to online mode) nothing should be happening since there aren’t any drivatars there

Every single Youtube video I've watched (aside from one German dude so far) from someone that has access to the game right now is either maxing out cars for top speed or doing drift builds... I'd really like PG to distribute these early access "demos" better, to people that actually are creative and could properly showcase just what you can really do in game with the customization options instead of swapping V12s and going sideways.

And I'm also sick of the fact that many of their customization videos use Supra or RX7 or newly added hypercars.
It's as if our contract with MS dictates that we are not allowed to release information about any other cars than these.

One of the things I was hoping to see in FH5 was new customization.
And the preview build was a good opportunity to find out, but in reality, it is difficult to find out due to the bias of the information as mentioned above.

It could be foretelling, that maybe there really isn't that much new when it comes to customization for the vast, vast majority of vehicles, so they focus on the ones that do.

I think this is the case tbh. The new wheels are really nice (Work Meisters are finally in the game!!!) but in terms of body/visual modifications, I've been disappointed massively. Obviously we haven't seen everything yet, but with Rocket Bunny all but likely being cut as well (say what you will about the kits, I liked some of them and they added more diversity & customization to the game which is in desperate need of it), we might actually end up with less kits in FH5 than FH4. Which is a huge shame.

Obviously we haven't seen everything yet, but with Rocket Bunny all but likely being cut as well (say what you will about the kits, I liked some of them and they added more diversity & customization to the game which is in desperate need of it), we might actually end up with less kits in FH5 than FH4. Not sure what‘s wrong with Rocket Bunny but I liked those kits. The GT86/BRZ RB kit is actually one of my favourite kits in FH4. Liberty Walk has some great ones as well, mainly for BMW and Lamborghini (and the 458 Italia in FH3…).

Don't get me wrong. I am also very excited for improved driving physics, amazing visuals and vastly improved sounds. Not only that, but with the map being more vibrant, bigger and including way more points of interest than any other previous Horizon, I'm very excited for FH5.

Those improvements alone will definitely have me playing FH5 more than FH4 for sure. But I also am a big fan of visual customization. And I always want to see it improved from title to title. Losing 21 Rocket Bunny kits will be a big shame for me, but I get it if that doesn't matter to most of the playerbase

These improvements are MEGA in FH5. This alone is huge for me and CAN NOT WAIT to use it when launching the game!

The preview build version may not contain content that MS has decided "should not be released yet", but that's about it at best.

The improvement we've been waiting for for years and years!
As a denizen of the PS, Km/h, kg/m world, this is a wonderful and long awaited improvement.
I can now say goodbye to that damned Kw forever... Sayonara, Kw!

From what I'm seeing, Jakexvx is doing great with Horizon 5's preview build, highlighting new features and also displaying the sound improvements per car (he'll release another one tomorrow), and AR12's doing the typical AR12 stuff that he does in his channel (V12 Swapping and going sideways). The main thing I want to see from the preview access YouTubers is map exploration, the best channel that I have found for that is from a German guy (the German language is not much of a problem for me since I speak Dutch and it’s a bit similar). Besides who doesn’t want to hear that the game is “gans geil”. 😅 He is the only one that I have found who was interested in driving up the second biggest mountain and have a look at the mirador hotel, or someone who genuinely cares about driving over some roads that look interesting on the map, and from time to time goes into drone mode to look around.

Below is video 1/4 of his map exploration, you’ll find the other parts on his channel. As of this post video 4/4 isn’t out yet.

That does look like an Evo.

But, could be a kit for the regular Huracan? I don't know.

It's interesting that Failrace doesn't seem to have received a preview build but I guess it's not so surprising considering almost all of his FH4 videos have concentrated on multiplayer. They gave one to SuperGT though and he largely concentrates on online races.

While I am always happy to see new models being added to any car, I have a bit mixed feelings when it comes to the fact that so many unique models are being removed.
Especially since the Huracan is a car where all the trim levels are still there without being removed.

Don't think I've seen anyone mention how much the sound of non-player cars has been improved. The car rolling by in the first few seconds of this clip sounds far better than anything I've heard in my hours of casual cruising with friends in FH4. I wonder if things like straight pipes actually have an effect on how far away you can hear other cars in this game.

Gonna have to do some experimenting when the full game launches and I'm on with some friends. Maybe have them get into identical cars with and without mods and take turns revving as I slowly back away, see if the louder car's sound carries farther.
