That thought occurred to me as well, but I don't think it will be terribly noticable. The NFS series itself is dotted with games that lack police chases.

If you want police chases and wide open gameplay you might want to look into Test Drive Unlimited 1 or 2. I highly doubt they will be in Horizon.
 
Little over 2 months to go and still no news lately.... Anyone else think something should be coming soon?
 
Gamescon in Germany next week would be my guess, especially as its Europe's major trade show and PG being the lead Devs.

You DO realize that police chases would be MORE realistic than the "police don't exist" feel the game has now, right?

I find it hilarious that police chases are now considered to be signs of an arcade game when they usually are more realistic than no chases at all.

And by hilarious, I mean incredibly stupid.
 
I'm really not sure how you got that subtext out of Patrick's post.
 
I personally don't want police. If you set it like TDU2 where they only chase you if you fill up their misdemeanour bar, then the likelihood is you'll never get chased and if it's designed to be realistic, you'll be spotted pulling some sweet oversteer and busted. Far rather be left alone, the utopia of just you and the road.

Microsoft isn't attending Gamescom, and according to the Gamescom website, Playgound Games isn't, either.

There have been many other road/street racing games that have skipped police chases without anyone really noticing. It won't bother me if they're missing.
 
I agree - what kind of playground would it be with constant interference from hall monitors looking over your shoulder?

I meant no police in the game. :rolleyes:

This game should be tons of fun using manual/clutch.
 
I'm not sure if this has already been suggested, but i'd say to remedy this situation, perhaps include police if the player isn't racing or doing anything required for 100%. If they're racing, make cops nonexistent. I think we can all agree that driving like a maniac around the state will get old really quickly without cops, so throwing them in as an added bonus would be amazing. Also if the player isn't in Career mode, then include an option for police in single player and multiplayer free roam sessions. It gives those in favor of police and those against police an equal opportunity at fun, without ruining the game for both. Those who like police can have fun screaming down roads with sirens blaring behind them and worrying about totaling their new ride, while those who won't stand cops can drive however they'd like and still have fun. Personally I fully support the idea of including cops in this game, and I believe this might be the solution. It's like the best of both worlds! What do you guys think? Good idea or not?

So this game has no story? Seems kinda weird for an open world racer with no story.

Just over 2 months actually. I think things will start coming out during September.

Well im pretty sure that's wrong. It says Oct 23 on Forza.net.
 
Oct 23? Wow, I'll be surprised if this gets good sales in the window they decided to release it in because theres another open-world racer coming out a week after. Its called Need For Speed Most Wanted and frankly I can't see the point of Horizon trying to compete with MW as people will go for the name they know better, which happens to be Need For Speed.

I agree...this game is going flop hard in terms of sales. Forza games are never really big sellers, so a spin off will likely do even worse. Not to mention the fact that the Forza community is split about this, the lack of any information or promotion apart from E3, and it going against the biggest arcade racer on the market NFS. I will be surprised if this makes it to number 1 in the NPD the week it releases.
 
I also agree. Horizon is not going to do well against Most Wanted 2012 (aka Burnout Paradise 2). In fact I plan on buying MW2012 and rent Forza Horizon. Thats coming from a massive fan of Forza. Horizon just seems like its trying too hard to be like Test Drive Unlimited 1 and 2 with far less features. And to be honest, I dont even think its close at all. But we will see.

I honestly just think of Horizon as a beta for them to experiment with offroad in the Forza series. Its just not going to do well at all. Maybe when Horizon 2 comes out and they put some more development time into it and study the features in TDU1 and TUD2, then it will do better. But I dont expect much at all from Horizon. And the price will drop extremely fast. They really should bump it another year or at least another 6 months.

Starting August 23 T10 will be revealing a car everyday. Rivals mode will be back.
 
Wow those are some crisp pictures, if those are taken with the in game photomode than I know I'm going to be stuck in the photomode for a long time. Looks better detailed the FM. The lighting also looks really good.
 
Looks pretty nice, but I'm still very mad at T10 for not letting me order the VIP pack :mad: 🤬
 
I couldn't care less if it was like TDU with less features, because chances are the Forza handling model is going to make every one of these cars feel worthwhile driving, in a way that TDU2 just doesn't.
 
^ Agreed, all I care about is finally an open world driving game with proper physics.

^^Agreed with both of these. The ONE game I've been waiting for since this generation of consoles began. Completely worth a console and hardware (Steering wheel) change.....
