Your last sentence I think is the biggest issue with T10. I think they rely too much on community input instead of following their own vision. I know that Dan has a sort of general vision, but it's hardly a concept that you can really build a game on. More of a vague direction. This methodology always results in a ton of compromises and a product that isn't as cohesive as it could or should be.

And precisley where did it say it was going to be anything else?

Where did it say it was going to be just that? NFS:supersportcompacteurotunerstreet with arcaded FM physics isn't what I was expecting.

This was an instant buy fro me because I was expecting an open world forza game. From whatever little info I had on the game lead me to that expectation. Seems I'm the one to blame for that, no one else, and that's fine. However, what the game has turned out to be, so far, is rather disappointing. That's all I was getting at.

Everyone before Horizon was demoed: "OMG THIS IS GONNA B DA BESTEST GAME EVR!!!1!1!!1"

Everyone AFTER Horizon was demoed: "DIS GAEM SUX BAAAAAWWWW!1!1!!1!1!1!1!"

And this is why I hate the internet.

I just hope that when you turn off all the assists and everything, it has a 75-80% Forza 4 feel. I'd be happy with Driver San Francisco physics. Heck, even GTA IV had fun car physics.

A couple thoughts about the few gameplay videos we've seen:

-Remember that first race you had to complete in Forza 4? Where all the assists were turned on? Including the assisted steering and braking? Maybe they had the assisted steering and braking turned on for all the gameplay videos that have been shown? Maybe if you turn all that crap off, it will have a feel closer to Forza 4?

-Doesn't Colorado have mountains too? So far all we've seen are the desert windy snake like long roads. There's probably a lot of twisty type mountain roads as well that they have yet to show. And with the fast travel ability, that must mean the map is pretty large.

-I really hope they let us drive some more off road oriented vehicles, such as that Ford Raptor, the Jeep that was recently released as DLC in Forza 4, etc. Also some rally type cars too.

Basically, all I'm hoping for is a game where I can take some good road cars for a spin on some good roads, and drive around freely with decent physics. A game similar to when Jeremy, James, or Richard would test cars on mountain roads, or like when they went in search for the greatest driving road ever.

So, the Forza Horizon section is going to be the equivalent of the GT5 forum on GTP?

I think some people are expecting way too much, this is the first game from a new developer in a new series of games. Granted I'm sure T10 has given Playground Games some help, but for the most part it's their debut effort.

I will say from what I have seen they would have been better off making Horizon a re-birth of sorts for the Project Gotham series as far as marketing goes.

I think everyone is OVERTHINKING this game. For one they will have alllll summer to throw us bones...If you dont think they have sleeper cells out here in the interwebs watching all the online chatter your high. I think Forza is going the "COD/Modern Warfare" approach where you have different camps pumping out different games but with the same name. With Forza Horizon covering the "Need For Speed/Dirt/Shift side of the coin you also have Forza 5 (hopefuly) covering the racing side of the coin where we keep our tuning/racing/painting just like in Forza 4. This will have them pumping out new editions to there games every 6-7 months keeping money coming into there camps all year round.

I just hope our money encourages the "open-world with sim-like physics" rather than the "casual, in yo face, arcade slam fest" Forza.

I understand the music festival and points aspects, mainly because just driving around isn't as stimulating enough for the average bro, I mean gamer. I think my concern is having these certain aspects being forced on us.

Options are our friend, so hopefully we can dictate what kind of experience we want.
Mechanical Damage is one way of keeping it real. Maybe the car can under-perform after too many slams, and a visit to the gas station can repair our mistakes.

Anyway, it's been fun hearing other people's take on such limited information. T10 listens to the community so speculating on what we want helps, more than hurts imo.

Judging how you guys throw the term bro around, i would guess that the whole gaming industry is a "bro" industry. Every game is going to have this "bro" character, and I've ran into more on Forza alone than i have on any other game, that's just going by the ridiculous definition you guys gave me.

Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it a "bro" game.

Sorry you don't like our ridiculous definition.

Here's another:

I agree, it has been overused, sorry about that, but I feel it's a valid concern. GT5 and FM4 are games that are universal, that can appeal to almost every background, but FH seems to cater to a particular audience.

Young male casual players (that love dubstep).

Hardcore Gamer: I'm playing VVVVVV. It's hard as hell, but oh so satisfying.
Bro Gamer: Man, ****. Those graphics be the opposite of hella dank, playa.
hahaha wtf.

I'm not sure how to explain the "bro" stuff. I'm in my second year of high school, but it's hard to explain...

I get the term, and i do see them alot. I'm just confused as to why its term used to describe the type of people thatwill play the game.

When a game has a "loud" style about it, almost obnoxious, coupled with a easy, smash everything mentality...💡

I thought this thread was getting ready to take an ugly turn. I know "bro" as something completely different. Then when I checked the link above and then another link from there and got this

"2. An alpha male idiot. This is the derogatory sense of the word (common usage in the western US): white, 16-25 years old, inarticulate, belligerent, talks about nothing but chicks and beer, drives a jacked up truck that’s plastered with stickers, has rich dad that owns a dealership or construction business and constantly tells this to chicks at parties,"

It is at THIS point I realize I've been on this earth too long. Right after Horizon drops I'll be jumping out the window. So long fellas, it's been good. Or you guys could put some money together and put me in a museum next to the "corded telephones you had to rent from the phone company" or the "When color TV was NEW" section. :(

I'm not sure why some people are getting so uptight about this. It's almost like they think T10 and Forza owe them. If you don't like the concept or the game then don't buy it. However, to bitch and whine in the way that some are doing smells distinctly of entitlement.

I'm still pretty excited.

I just want a realistic driving model when all the assists are off, and the ability to cruise/race online with my buddies.
EDIT: And a large world to do it in.

The other stuff (cockpit view, day/night cycle, off-road, AI traffic, open world) has already been shown in the demo's so I'm thrilled about that.

Not excited about crashing through stuff for points, but it won't matter since I won't do that.

I do have one question: Is online persistent, like TDU or do you have to set up lobbies, like GT5?

A redneck? :D

Just wait for Forza 5.. I like what katpeeler said, I hope they use the gained technology for Forza 5 so we can roam as a club. But in the same time I'm scared for this..

Hope so. :yuck:

Actually, it's "Grammar Nazi."

Hahaha :o

This game was unexpected in my world, I will take the unexpected games any day. It is the 'Hey wait until we release this game in 2+ years' that end up either sucking or made my expectations too high that disappoint me. Expect the worst, hope for the best, you can't lose!

If that god awful game TDU had it

TDU 1 was a classic. TDU 2 had all the right ingredients and looked amazing but Atari messed up the basics and the game never even worked properly.

Saying TDU was awful is just silly, especially when TDU is the reason we even have a Forza Horizon.

Your opinion not mine.

Horizon is closer to a NFS game than TDU at this point.

I second this. And that's the reason why many people don't like how this game is turning out..

I also agree its more like NFS than TDU

I'm starting to get weary of Horizon, all they needed to do was make Forza 4 open world, it its starting to look like Pro Street, I'll still buy it, hell I still own TDU 1&2

I still go back to TDU1 and I can still appreciate it. Excellent game.

I love TDU1, great game, great concept. I swear some of you here at times have the most ridiculous sense of entitlement complaining about a game we had no idea was coming, made no real promises yet and we no VERY little about. Complaining it aint dark enough...turn your TV down and drive with a thin pillow case over your face. This game is not for the hardcore that play Forza and GT5, lighten up a bit, this game is not Forza 4 on the highway this is something else by a different dev team. Relax a bit and open your mind.

Thank you.

Seriously, just stop bitching about the game. It's got a ways to go.
