Season pass confirmed for Forza Horizon

Eurogamer
Turn 10 and Playground's forthcoming open world racer Forza Horizon will be receiving monthly DLC updates, and it'll be getting a full expansion pack on 18th December.

Which isn't too dissimilar to what its predecessor Forza Motorsport 4 does, really. Like Forza 4, the monthly DLC updates will take the form of car packs, and like Forza 4 they'll be available either individually or can be drip-fed through Turn 10's petrol-teat via a Season Pass.

Forza Horizon's a collaboration between Turn 10 and Playground, a new UK studio formed of veterans from the racing scene. It's also to utilize a Kinect feature that allows you to control the GPS unit by voice alone, proving that the future of motion control is perhaps just about moving your mouth around a bit until noises come out.

Rivals mode = very good.
22B confirmed = even better.

I'm looking forward to a somewhat less competitive online environment than FM4's (except for Rivals, that is).

Also, might just be me, but FH's lighting seems slightly better than FM4's, but that might be due to the YT video.

This game looks better and better every time a new video or screenshot appears!...ill be pre-ordering this week! :)

Just pre-oredered collectors edition on my way home from work, although I will say that I did notice that there are aloooooooot of cars missing from past Forza games, and that kind of worries me that this game will be %50 DLC

To be fair, all racing cars are cut from FM4's roster for FH (well, sort of: the Exige, Zonda R, and Viper ACR-X are all track-only cars), so that would account for a pretty large chunk.

The other ones? That does bother me a bit, as we've been told to expect around 200 or so cars at launch, which makes me think roughly half of FM4's road cars won't be there :(

I can understand them not putting race cars in the game (even though I was looking forward to driving a 787B on a busy freeway), but as to road cars, it's just a little disappointing that a good portion of the stock cars will not be featured, I just really hope they add some more 80's cars, or a few more Japanese cars, but I guess if the DLC doesn't make me take a second mortgage on the house, I'll be fine.

It looks like we are to expect MASSIVE DLC content to come for this game. Then again, are we really surprised?

Should anyone be surprised at all when it comes to modern games and DLC?

Ohhhhh.

1) Glenwood Canyon @ :53
2) Mt Garfield in Grand Junction (my home town) @ :57
3) Colorado National Monument (my canyon carving road, south of Grand Junction) @ 1:00

Sounds like they refer to the Monument area as "Red Rock".

And this game looks really arcadey, which for the type of game it is doesn't really matter. It's basically a NFS competitor.

When i first heard about this game i was like 'meh', but now ive seen a few vids and screenshots i cant wait to get it!! no news on the demo yet?

..also, its good to see a few brits working on this game! 👍

This game reminds me the most of NFS Pro Street. At first I thought it would be similar to TDU2 but you wont be able to drive off the road like in TDU2. TDU2 let you drive ANYWHERE you wanted with full freedom. In Horizon you will be restricted to the main roads and shortcut roads only.

I have been a massive Forza fan and this looks decent but I plan to just rent Horizon. Also still sticker shocked with the $50.00 (4000ms points) season pass too. So for now I will rent, if I like I might buy but I wont get the season pass thats for sure.

Wow, looking at the map in the first video this really is a mish-mashed version of Colorado with fake names. Looks like my favorite road doesn't actually do it's 19 mile loop, but instead goes up to an "observatory" and stops. :indiff:

I think you meant "Trolling". Also your sentence should start with a capital "S" and end with a period. Talking in textspeak is against the AUP. I have always been a Fan of Forza so I am far from some sort of Forza trolling hater that you make me out to be. The only person trolling in this thread is clearly you. I replied in here 1 time to inform others about the freedom of the game. Many don't know or understand how much freedom they will or will not have in Horizon. Again, you follow me calling me a troll. As much as you follow me around I would think you just got out of prison and like to hold prison mates belt loops or their pocket. If thats what you want to do then very well....hold my pocket. I have never seen a fanboy get so defensive over someone posting about a game. Wow child you need to grow up. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, your replies have never been worth reading.

Honestly as a Playstation gamer this game looks unappealing, between this and NFS Most Wanted I would definately choose Most Wanted. I know that they are trying some different with this one but any Forza Motorstorm is better than this. (Just leaving my opinion here, no need to be mad at me now)

Wow I think you have taken it way to seriously, clearly by putting a :D face I was having a joke with you. I have been part of the test drive discussion over on forza planet hence the joke "so your on here trolling as well". Any way my apologies if I came across the wrong way.

Funny how you mention NFS, because the main appeal that Horizon has on me is that it follows not the new, but the old NFS concept. In an older video for Horizon, they mentioned how they wanted players to fall in love with the cars, and drive them on the most beautiful roads. Criterion wants to keep that alive, but with more emphasis on you using your car as a weapon.

Quite a few of us in the NFS community sees Horizon as a sort of spiritual successor to the 1st gen NFS. And after hearing that Horizon will be an "action racing game", which from my understanding means in between sim and arcade, it gives me hope that we'll see more open road simcade racers in the future. Hopefully.

MW2012 and Horizon, while both being open road free-roam, I can't see being compared due to the different style of gameplay and the concepts behind them. Nonetheless, I'll be supporting both of them.

No, no it does not. Unless you're very young and haven't experienced of the simplistic magic the Playstation1 Need For Speed titles.

Yeah that forum has been relentless lately so I came over here hoping to get away from the fanboys and to post info without it it being taken negatively. Then you replied with that and yes it struck a nerve. Glad to hear you were only joking. 👍

Also Squach240 is correct. Horizon does not appeal to the "old" NFS games. The original NFS games like Hot pursuit and Hot Pursuit 2 did not have a storyline or dancing or "Festivals" or "Dubstep" or "Wrist band collecting" or anything like that. This game was clearly designed with the focus to pull in the younger generation of gamers. I dont mean it in a bad way, but to compare this to the "old" NFS games does not make sense. Old nfs games started back in the PS1 generation. The recently released Hot Pursuit game is the closest game to the old school NFS games.

With that said, a demo will be available October the 9th. This is from the Forza Planet site.

Also..if you download and play the demo you will receive a Viper GTS in Foza Horizon livery to play in Horizon!👍
