I'll be interested to see if the cockpit view has been improved over Forza 3 (i.e., pulled back a bit more so that more of the steering wheel and dash is visible) It varied in F3- some cars had the view just right imo (like the Insignia VXR) and others had the camera angle too far forward.

Loller Trollster.
Considering I've known the guy for quite some time, nope.

Alright, cancel your preoder then.
It's there you must be expecting something else then.
All the videos and things Ive heard have suggested the opposite of what you and your friend are saying

Have fun with that. You can clearly see steering assist.

I'm just going to go ahead and toss a direct quote from Turn 10 while I'm at it. :)

Finally, we added the “simulation steering” option. This option removes all of the controller aides. There were very few of these aides on the wheel controller, but there were several on the console controller. With these aides removed, you will no longer get help finding the right counter-steering angle

How do you explain the other videos?
Is he driving a Scooby?
Arent those AWD?
I'm not sure AWD cars snap as easy as a RWD car.

Its not about the snap, its about the fact the wheel at time isn't even turning the car the game is. On top of that a full 900 degree wheels maximum lock is at 540 degrees. Is direct steering input that big of a thing to ask for?

Whether or not some form of assist still exists is still up for testing and debate. However, I can tell you from experience that the whole experience of driving using a wheel has been massively improved. So even if some assist still does exist I am more than happy with the improvements that have been made.

But why can't it be all the way removed? Why can't Turn 10 just keep their word and do what they said they would. This is supposed to be a simulator, not a arcade racer. Why does there have to be any assists whats so ever? Why can't they just do what every past Sim racer has done and have direct steering.

It's beyond me that T10 don't just hide whatever assists there might be (or whatever else it is that people are noticing in the telemetry screen).

Without visual proof, most people probably wouldn't even notice anything

I guess if your looking at the sky pixels when your racing you won't notice it, but any time you take a turn and get any amount of oversteer you can't help but notice the game aiding you.

Easy answer, don't buy the game then.

We aren't. But we still have every right to point out the blatant flaws of the game.

Speak to Phil-t on here, he's done extensive testing in FM3 and has come to the conclusion that's it's not that big of a deal. And also that what is happening in telemetry in not necessarily what is happening in game. But at the end of the day if it feels fantastic what does it really matter. I play all sorts of racing games and don't feel it takes any less skill to trouble the top of the leader boards in FM than in other games.

It does amaze me when people come to the Forza board (or any other) purely to keep on moaning about an aspect of the game. Just don't buy it. I mean, I think NFS The Run looks identical in terms of physics, gameplay etc to Hot Pursuit and I really hated HP so I simply won't buy it when it is released. No cockpit view also annoyed me but I don't go to the NFS forums to complain about it because it won't change anything.

Prosthetic
Uhhh... He has a fanatec wheel, why the hell would you want to use a gamepad when you have an expensive wheel. How about Turn 10 just you know, make a game that doesn't suck.

He has a Fanatec wheel, an Xbox and he's not buying Forza 4.

That is some serious discipline he's got.

How do you know it's a flaw when you haven't played it?

I like these non-scientific "proof" videos. Guy doesn't show us ANY settings on his Fanatec and he takes the most grippy car in the demo and runs it in automatic. Wow.

Removal of steering assist is awesome. One of the best things about FM4. Bummer that some of the GT guys are already getting different copies of FM4 than the rest of the public. Not surprised though ;)

Yeah. It's that obvious that it took Youtube videos of the assist at work to even prove it was there. Absolutely gamebreaking, right.

Anyways, to each their own. Different people have different priorities, and I guess this might be a big deal to some. I for one am not too bothered about it, but if others feel like dropping the game because of that, why not.

Just let it go... The pure knowledge that there's something going on might be enough for some to dismiss the game, and that's their decision... From what I've read on here, FM3's assist wasn't anywhere near as intrusive as a lot of people make it out to be. And if it is an assist that's active there, not just something within the physics we're seeing, and it's enough to put some people off - just let'em go. There's no arguing about it, anyways.

Exactly. He obviously made that video to point out meaningless items in the game to make it seem "flawed". Steering Sim turns it off, and until I have the demo or game in my hands, I wont believe otherwise.

At least turn 10 have the balls to show there engine in a telemetry.

Lots of games hide all this info from users.

 So... Because some people are too stupid to notice steering assist, it must be nonexistent. We aren't alone. Plenty of people on Forzacentral are posting about it too.

Most of us at Forzacentral are actually posting the opposite of what you are saying. Even better you should visit racesimcentral forums, as well as insidesimracing.tv and the forums over at Car and Driver. Tons of praise for the optional removal of steering assist.

The great news is that it's there and works in spades.

I don't see a need for you to call people stupid. I am sure that kind of talk isn't permitted here.

Making a demo requires some work, so when they made the decision to release a demo, it forked off from the retail code. It's possible there will still be some steering aid in the retail Forza 4 release, but we won't know for sure until then. Whether or not steering interpolation remains in the game, I'm certainly not going to cancel my pre-order over it. I enjoyed Forza 3 just fine.

Cool, and it will be a million times better if it didn't exist.

Hes asking for one simple thing. For Turn 10 to keep there word.

He has a Fanatec wheel, an Xbox and he's not buying Forza 4.

Yeah well, he isn't satisfied so he'll fine something else to do. Same with me, not a big deal.

Because its now been well documented.

He doesn't own a PS3 or GT5. In fact he hasn't even played it. He is actually a pretty hardcore Forza fan. Yet he manages to not be a fanboy and realize the faults of the game.

As I said, that'd be enough to make nine out of ten complainers not notice the issue, in my opinion. Just a guess, of course.

Well, who to believe now? ;)
