Boy, that livery decal looks like ass zoomed in though

I think he's talking about that little "wave" patch that's right next to the checkerboard pattern. It looks like a spot where a logo was going to go or a spot that's covering a pre-existing logo. Wasn't there a tire manufacturer that would have matched that years ago?

All in all I'm with you guys. As far as I'm concerned that's the emblem for the "Wave Sports Tire". It really doesn't do anything for me as far as "HEY LOOK AT ME, I'M A GLITCH"

I wonder if he is talking about the two checkerboard pattern images. One checkerboard image is all squares, the other image is all squares, with a U shaped cutout on the left side.

It doesn't look like a glitch to me, it's just the pattern on the tire sidewall. It looks like T10 intended it to look like that, in my opinion.

They do alternate though. I think its intended to look like that.

I think so as well. I am just struggling to find what he is talking about. I am honestly interested. I like finding these things. They are like easter eggs.

Yeah, I'm talking about that strange cutout (second picture). It really stand out in my opinion, and doesn't look like it belongs here. As I said, it looks like someone patched some kind on brighter piece of rubber over the sidewall.

But yeah, I agree this is one hell of a nitpicking :p

Edit : Sport tires have four sidewall markings (like street tires, if I remember right). It looks to me that the four markings should be the same (just like the ones on the street tires). Plus the "cutout" really looks weird. I mean, it's not your typical shape (sinusoidal, hyperbolic, whatever), but some ugly irregular cutout.

Why are you looking at the tires THAT closely?

Because I want to ?

Edit : Just to be clear, I know this is some heavy nitpicking. I just wondered if I was the only one seeing this. Looks like I am :scared:

The original still has the best music, not even 3 holds a candle to it.

Ok...I was just making sure I wasn't blind. I understand now.

Exactly. I'm hoping T10 will give us this.

That looks like a Carrera GT from the rear....beautiful car.
If Porsche is out, I hope they give us the same amount of RUFs as Porsche that were in FM3.
30 or so?

I think it may be a conscientious decision on the modeler's part to showcase layers in the tire design. The checkered parts is rounded out because its hidden behind a new layer.

Why? I have no idea - I really thought most tires are comprised of one surface layer, not multiple ones. It looks cool though, and points to you for noticing this.

For those of you who took part in the pre-order incentives program how long did it take T10 to respond to your email?

If they don't at release Im pretty sure it will end up as DLC.

2 days. You should get a message when you log into FM3.

I think I know what you mean. At the seam (No. 2 in Bogie's pic) presumably the tyre should be roughly the same "luminance" either side of said seam.
As it stands, it's much brighter on one side than it is the other, whilst I assume it's supposed to be the same material.
It could be that the normals aren't lining up at the texture's seams? That would mean that, either side of the seam, the tyre reflects light differently - specular lighting uses the normal maps, which probably are being used on those tyres, looking at the chequered pattern. Visually, this would imply that the tyre surface is at a different "angle" either side of the seam, which doesn't make sense.

If it's not the normals (i.e. the texture / uv seam isn't that shape) then it must be in the diffuse map itself - deliberately or not, who knows. It does look distracting, either way. Especially now my attention has been drawn to it!

^ Good point. Never thought it could be caused by normal maps. But it definitely can, as the "seams" are somewhat "reflective".

Man, the fact we're discussing such minute details means we're really out of fresh news

Open the valves Turn10 !

Seriously, how is it that we get about three car "reveal" a day and almost none of 'em are supported by bullshots ? Shouldn't be *that* hard to take a few shots in Dan's Dungeon :banghead:

Probably because most of the cars being revealed are from FM3. That's why the Sesto Elemento got a photoshoot.

^ All the more reason ! We want to see those "old" cars with the new rendering engine :dopey:

So, ALMS line up in FM3? Mhhh, yes, please!

FM3? Tonight Marty we go back to the future.

Ya know I hope we get a decent set of options for quick race this time.

The standard 3 laps with AI set to medium and no chance of picking opponents was boring.

A cynical side of me says it was done on purpose to increase online play and therefor subscriptions.

The events were good I just wanted to set up my own races to play with all them amazing cars lol.

It would be a pretty poor ALMS tie-up if all of those Porsches were absent...

From insidesimracing.tv - "Forza Motorsport 4 Car Bowling at Top Gear Track"

WTF... this sure lowers my expectations of a console racing "sim" 👎

^Football too.

At least it will save you money.

Pretty much. Not like car football or bowling or such crazy things would be impossible IRL - as proven by Top Gear. Not that I'd be a massive fan of stuff like that, but that's got nothing to do with being a sim or not. It's like gymkhana or racing: It's not racing, but realistic nontheless.

LOL, man you KNOW I got to get down that. I wonder what options they'll have for us. They already allow multi-class racing online which is a must for ALMS racing but we could never do it where you crossed the actual start/finish line to end the race in a timed race. You either had to specify how many laps or how much time. But for time you never "crossed" the finish line, time was just up.

I know, big blow to the series.

Wanna see some Forza 3 ALMS action? Of course you do. Here's a vid of our action. If any of you guys would like to run in the 16 driver ALMS series for when FM4 drops just let me know.
