I don't know Forza sites nor their news sites, that's why I've asked for some news, there's no need to be such an a*****.

Basically he said they thrown away old tyres data for a new one, with new slip angle values I guess. but what about suspensions? That was the main problem of FM3, cars sticked to the ground with no bouncing at all, too flat. Do they add CAD data for suspensions this time?

All this info, including the suspension question above can be found on this site. There's no need for you to even leave GTP.

So guys let's discuss the new lighting engine...

Looks amazing:D
Has anyone else preodered with Amazon?
100 bucks total with shipping, I havent pulled the trigger yet.....I really want that Scooby

Notice the improved contrast and sense of vibrancy in the new shots, despite Forza being historically "vibrant" anyway. Also notice how dark the cockpit now appears - the dangers of HDRI on low dynamic range media :p
There are subtle improvements in some of the shaders, too (e.g. specular reflections, and that "lens flare" is pretty good.)

The biggest visible difference probably comes from an increased resolution / definition in the reflection map, which is presumably also being used for the image-based lighting.

Has anyone thought that the custom tyre test data might precisely be for different weather conditions? Or perhaps it's for better behaviour relative to changing tyre pressures. Most racing games use fairly constant conditions, so the test data need only cover that single case...

O, one thing, I remember in the first leaked trailer they talked about "Holywood-style visuals and effects during race" but I didn't notice any so far. Something like blackouts or anything.

Covering that single case is still complicated enough. Doubt we're gonna get weather in Forza 4, for that reason alone.

Night racing is only a matter of graphics engine (and AI, if you want to do it right, but it's not mandatory). Weather is a matter of graphics engine *and* physics engine *and*, therefore, AI.

I've just bought a copy of "Games" Magazine Issue 112 in the UK.
Several pages about FM4 by Studio 10 Director Dan Greenawalt.

Discussing Scenery, Lighting, liason with Top Gear / Jeremy Clarkson and also the Pirelli data.

Any new info in there?

Not sure if any of these are "new" info or not but...

A few "hints" about ideas / stuff they thought up or tried out, but decided not to include in the game. (Like washing your car the Kinnect way by waving your arms about !!!) LOL

Light effects coming directly from the environment, in order to improve reflections, shadows, etc. :💡

Adjustable - head tracking. 👍

Autovista - being able to go around your car, opening up bonnets & boots to take a look inside. Opening doors & being able to flick switches !!!. 👍

If all this comes off, it sounds like FM4 is the game GT5 should have been. :grumpy:

IIRC, that was all just marketing hype during the video & the only thing shown during the phrase was really just the backfire of the exhaust.

Something is bothering me.

Maybe I'm wrong but : http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/FM4_ALMS/
The most stunningly realistic racing circuits and cars that fans know and love from the ALMS, including Sebring, Road Atlanta, Road America, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and 26 ALMS cars
Weren't there already more than 26 ALMS cars in Forza 3 ?

Is Porsche is out then there will be less cars of course, but undoubtedly we'll be getting some 2011 models, so the number shall still around the same, and higher than 26.

I can't seem to be able to find a reliable way to figure out if I'm just mistaken or if something smells fishy.

I guess they are saving on the details....such as...there are no FANS watching the race in Forza 4.

Yup, in all shown videos up until now, there are no spectators, at all.

Edit : Some trackside details seem to have been lost as well.

Must be give and take. Today's console's are getting pretty limited since they are so outdated. But then again, when you have spectators in GT that look like this, I don't think we really need them, lol.

"Spectators" is a bit cruel! Marshals have a job to do, you know. Well, maybe not in GT5. Heh; I see what you did now...

I think they've done that too improve on the graphics. The spectators in Forza are HIGHLY detailed. I think it helps too keep te framerate and others graphical stuff in 60fps sync.

I remember the big talk about how good the spectators were made in PGR3 as well, and how they had different looks and reactions. I too would rather have them focus their efforts elsewhere if they are constrained by today's console performance.

Obviously. Still, that's the kind of trade-off which may not turn out really well in the final product. Running on deserted tracks may feel really weird. Such may be the 30fps mirror, for that matter. We'll see.

I'm fine with 2D cutouts for spectators/marshals or even the trees, so long as when I'm playing it doesn't feel like 2D cutouts. I'm not a graphics whore but am fine if it looks and plays well then I'm all for it.

I didn't even notice there were no spectators :odd:
Goes to show how much I care about them, I guess...

I don't mind the lack of spectators, most PC Sims don't even have them. They add nothing to the game, it also feels weird having a full grandstand for a 5 lap race with slow cars.

Hey, anybody know more details about the Forza 3 profile import to Forza 4? Like just what do Forza 3 racers get?

I know you can import your livery groups. I think they also said something about getting some cars based on what cars you have in your FM3 garage.

I also heard that you get a certain amount of credits depending on how many cars you had in Forza 3 and how long you played it.

Spectators are in.

Yeah I heard we can import vinyl groups and based on the save, your time put in, cars you own, etc FM4 will give you something. Not sure what yet. I really wished I knew about the vinyl group save ahead of time. I think I deleted like half of them in FM3 thinking I can redo them better in FM4... and now I won't even have a basis to start lol
