I actually think Forza does a great job of it's track models. They look life-like and detailed. The only downside is that the track surface is often too smooth, but hopefully this has been addressed in FM4.

I don´t care about the details off the track and I dont give a damn about 3D trees... For me, the most important thing is how accurately modeled the track is. And yes, for me, FM3 has some worse modeled tracks. They are wayy tooo wide... It is my oppinion.

Well we know for a fact that the Nordschliefe is inaccurate, as not only T10 acclaimed to such themselves but a few members here (I believe Scaff is one of 'em) have driven around the Green Hell. So that much we do know.

As far as Suzuka in S2U goes, it's about as accurate as any other game I've seen. The best representation would probably be F1 2010.

Yeah, in F12010 I felt home on each track, they´ve modeled the tracks very good and original!

T10 and EA will make the game playable for everyone so they make the tracks wide... but then we don´t need original tracks, they should throw in 100 fantasy tracks in and than it´s ok...

Even hardcore PC-SIM fans agree that PD modeled the Nordschleife perfectly and no other game can reach that quality.

And no, I´m not bashing. I have an X360 and FM3 and I will buy FM4.. I have an PS3 and GT5 and I play PC-SIM´s...

Fair enough.

No need to be hostile about it.

What is this "they make the tracks wide" business? The only track that's wide is the Ring in Forza. The rest are on point. They stated their reasons for it and for racing , which FM3 is geared to, it wasn't a horrible decision. To be honest I wouldn't be at all upset if they had both versions in the game allowing those who want to race on Turn10's version to do so as well as having an accurate version for those who wish to.

And then the "no other game can reach that quality" comment. Really? I could reach that quality if given the time, resources and money. Question is what would be my incentive?

The only track in Forza 3 that isn't modeled the best, but still modeled really well in my book (you always know you're on the green hell) is Nurburgring's Nordschliefe. And that's mostly on T10's choice to widen the track a bit.

All other real tracks are modeled very well in my book. It's not tracks but only a track (notice no S) that most have issues with. And I think GT fans blow it way out of proportion. I think the 'ring on GT5 is the best that I've played in a racer but that's not saying other games do it wrong. The track is afterall almost 13 miles long and some differences will be noticed given the length of the track. Majority of complaints is in track width, but I don't go 'am I racing on Sebring? Laguna Seca?' No, cuz I know 100% I'm on the green hell. And yes, GT5 did the green hell better.

Yeah this is blown out of proportion in a BIG way. I mean why is it that when I got GT5 the first time I drove the Ring I knew exactly what to expect because I played it in Forza before? Its not like its that different.

Yes GT5 Ring is noticeably better especially when you compare it to videos and according to those who actually drove it. But please stop the madness about Forza's Ring, its not nearly as bad as stated by some.

And we could have some looong and boring conversations about Laguna Seca and Suzuka about the placement of this tree and that grandstand being 2 feet further to the left but you know...:indiff:

And I know I said it before but as much as GT5 Ring is very realistic, you could argue that driving a F430 that sounds like a Dyson vacuum cleaner on it is spoiling the immersion a little bit, if you know what I mean.

I will agree with this, or the Mustang GT for instance.

I got the LE version pre-ordered at Best Buy so I can get the Beamer.

I'll probably also get roped into buying most of the DLC too.

FM.net forums seem to be down. May be getting updated today???

The forums are working fine for me right now (2:21pm CDT), and look the same :(

Yup seems to be working now. I'm wondering if they were doing some testing earlier.

I would bet they were. All I have to say is, if they fix the forums proper, I will be posting all the time there!

Aww you gonna come back now and again.

The same problem is in FM3. Nordschleife feels and looks like an fictional track... I hope they will fix this in FM4 but I have less hope...

It's not a million miles out is it?

I guess if just the thought a track isn't 100% dimensionally correct really puts you off, I guess there are other games out there that pander to that kind of thing, I know some people are almost OCD about such things, same with cars, just knowing the mirror is fractionally the wrong shape and people refuse to drive it..

Each to their own!

Hint of Nascar in FM4. Also a bunch of screen shots of Infineon and a couple from Indy. http://www.3david.com/3D_Art/turn_10.html

As I said, my oppinion. The ring is the most important track for me so I complain about that track. Sorry but Suzuka and Laguna Seca feels also too wide but I got to give it another try, maybe I´m wrong. Did not play FM3 for 2 months now...

In no other game I get that scary feeling when I drive the Nordschleife and that feeling is enough for me. Each corner you can feel it how brutal this track is. But enough from me, this is the FM4 thread. I hope so much that FM4 will be as good as GT5 (physics and tracks (again! for me) ). I really hope so much that FM4 can give me this feeling too when driving an car on any track.

I like screen-shots above, but it looks very "Forza", I don't like a colors - it's like they trying to make it more realistic by tuning down saturation. Reminds me GT4.

I hope those aren't F4 shots. They look garbage :/

Has that nasty SHIFT look to it.

I think they look great. And I'm not a NASCAR fan by any means.

It's old pics according to Badned at Forzacentral,
8th place out of 8 shown in the pics are also a indication that they are old.

WTF? A forza track finally have realistic satuation, correct color temperture and no overbright tarmac and people say it looks crap?

To me this is the best track screen I have ever seen in a Forza game, the texture quality and clarity reminds me of PC sims. And if it indeed has shift like quality than all for better, Shift 2's tracks are absolute beauty even in different lighting conditions on my PC.

Spectators in them pics too.
Thought we wasn't having any?

👍

Having just been to Sears Point Infineon Raceway a couple weeks ago, I must say they did a good job capturing the track. I can't wait to drive on it again in FM4.

There are spectators in some of the Hockenheim images, too.

Ok, now those pics are amazing. What the hell are most of you guys smoking if you say it looks bad, I mean sure, I can understand opinion, but right now there is none. :sly: I think that replays should have a free camera mode too.

Im with you on this one. They look awesome to me. Some people just might be used to the GT5 freshly built track look. I like the more real world look personally.

What puts me off is the tracks are being shown from such odd angles, but clearly an in-game camera. I bet they look stellar from on-track.

The new Forzamotorsport.net forums are up by the look of it - the new style has a black background.
