They promised 5 new locales. So far we have Top Gear TT, Hockenheim, Indy, Alps and some other track. So no Butthurts track, sorry.

No Night, No Weather in FM4. 25 cars in autovista....

http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/underthehood2/
The 2 environments cut don't bother me. Not a fan of Almafi's full course or New York. Bugatti's loss kind of sucks, but at least LeSarthe is still there.

They did say there are new tracks yet to be announced.

The AutoVista thing isn't a big deal. Esp. since the sentence starts off with, "At launch,....". I like how you have to work for some of the features. 👍

So here is the list of what cars we get based on our FM3 profile level. Now my question is if you are level 50, do you get all of the cars or just the one car for level 50?

so, they've cut tracks I don't really care about and the lack of Porsche already accounts for a third of the cars we've lost. Then, there's models which they probably just updated to a newer MY and replaced/corrected the models where necessary - that's an assumption, but it seems reasonable.

About Autovista, well... 25 cars isn't much and I'm annoyed that a fifth of them are Ferraris, but since I don't care about AutoVista in particular, I don't mind, really.

Wheather and night racing are neither things I really needed, nor did I expect them. They already said somewhere that there are two times of day, and we knew about dusk and noon, so that went right out of the window anyways.

Actually, I don't find these news to be that suprising, nor disappointing.

I'll probably read the whole thing at work, especially the bit about the PI system. But I also have to agree with what was said previously, T10 communicating what's going on is a big plus for me. Even if it's bad news. I prefer bad news to bad suprises.

I'm pretty certain you'll be getting all of them.

I'm still unsure whether I wanna do it, though. Starting with nothing and working my way up is something I usually like a lot, but... Those cars do equal a nice sum of money if you were to buy them. Decisions, decisions :indiff:

QUESTION

I can't verify this, but I've seen some people say that pre-ordering at the online Microsoft store can get you the CR-Z.

Is this true?

Pre-ordering a game at Target is nigh-on impossible, as they need to be selling pre-order cards for the specific game that you want. A very stupid system... :ouch:

If anyone knows, please, let me know.

It's great that Turn 10 keep us informed like this. I appreciate their honesty, even if the news is not always what the fans want to hear. Personally I didn't expect weather or night racing, and agree with Dan's reasons for not including them. You have to be realistic about what an ageing 360 is capable of.

I don't really care about Autovista so no problems there. Also 500 cars, all highly detailed with cockpits, is absolutely fine by me.

The loss of the Bugatti circuit is a huge loss for me. It's a great track and very useful. I'd rather they lost the full Le Sarthe layout to be honest.

New York, Sidewinder & Amalfi - meh, couldn't care less.

100 counting the Muscle Car pack.

Considering it's only been 2 years that seems about right.

It will be 200 cars total once the DLC schedule is finished too. That's a lot of (High quality) cars for two-three years work IMO.

Like above, Buggati is a huge loss even though it was far from my favorite track, It was a decent real world track. I disagree about Amalfi/Positano, again not my favorite or best track, but touge/hillclimbs/point-2-point tracks are always welcome and fun (in anything but R1 class, Geez T10). A lot of people are asking for the Top gear "greatest driving roads" Positano has the same essence, The Road Rally factor will be missed by many historic racers. I wonder if the Amalfi updates include a pit lane, that was always a big minus for endurance races

Oh well. The PI has been revised.
Cockpit damage is new.
The biggest change we've known about a long time is 16 cars. That's not to be knocked, especially with standing starts.

It's certainly seems that Autovista will be added too. Glad I haven't been scrutinising all the pre release vids.

Please T10 don't spoil the other Easter egg. Let people find something.

Under The Hood 2 crushed my hopes.

Only 26 Autovista Cars. New York, Sidewinder and Amalfi Full removed (No city tracks? WTF?) And as a cherry on top. No night racing or weather.

Seriously, what!? Forza 3.1

Really... really, really? I think that was quite obvious. I am really happy that they didnt included weather or night racing to save the frame rate and 16 cars. They choosed to not to it, if they cant implement it correctly. PD could learn from that. Better no weather than something unrealistic.

Oh and for some people who believe that the rain on the cars in GT5 is realistic, should park with a premium car half way in a tunnel. The part that is sitting in the tunnel shows raining in the cockpit. So there are no rain drops that comming from above, it is just a trick.

I'm guessing the track reveals will be Indy and Infineon - i.e. what we already know about?

Auto-vista is more of a bonus for me anyway. I wouldn't even mind if it weren't there, so the fact it exists at all is just high polly icing on the already beautifully rendered cake.

And even though I wasn't a huge fan of the Buggati circuit, I do feel for the people who love the track. But with New York, it feels like a waste of disc space for only 2 variations, only 1 of which was more than 2 parallel lines. Sidewinder I only used a few times for photo mode. And I only used Amalfi for photo mode as well, but between the aesthetic improvements to Maple Valley, and the beautiful new locations, I'm perfectly fine without it.

I want to see what kind of improvements have been made to the vinyl editor. And I hope they fixed some of the vinyl zoning(?) bugs from FM3. I remember how much of a pain in the ass it was to paint some cars, and how it was impossible to paint certain parts of others. I know on most of the R1 cars when you try to paint along the outside the vinyls would show up in multiple places, and it's stuff like that I hope to see fixed this time around.

I'm guessing it's inclusion in FM4 is just a feeler to see what the fanbase thinks about it before going to a more serious implementation in later releases(which probably won't be on the 360 if recent rumors are true). 25 seems like a good enough number to get a good feel for it without taking too much development resources.

Yeah, I just watched through every video with Autovista and extracted all cars that I saw.
Quiet dissapointing, not many really rare cars. Even though I don't see many of them on the street they don't feel any special at all. All technology and no soul. I'm still hoping for DMC 12 and a bunch of others.

25 AV cars is the biggest disappointment. I was hoping something more in the 50 cars range. Also, losing Bugatti circuit is crap, as there is no valid reason to it (we need moar tracks FFS!). I can understand why Sidewinder and New York got cut. Sidewinder is a test track that is not really fun for racing and New York was just two straight lines tied together.

Well, at least we now know all other environments from FM3 are there :dopey:

Not surprised AT ALL about wheather and night. Turn10 already stated like a thousand times that this is not their priority.

And finally, some good news about "bumpiness" :)

Not all hope is lost 👍

I doubt the DeLorean will make it...mostly because it's not that rare of a car, and...the final product was just so underpowered. I hope they use the Turbo charged version like the one in GT4/5 this time. Or at least include the engine swap option for the high performance PRV V6.

Yes Bugatti cut is indeed an odd call.
I quite liked that track. There was a big cut across one of the chicanes but still no reason to drop it.

Any news on Silverstones update? Do we get both layouts? That would be nice.

City tracks getting bombed is not a big deal to me. I love Shift 2 track selection except for the city ones TBH.

Feel sorry for the people who do miss them though.

Maybe it was a frame rate issue again. NY has a lot of detail and as we know GT suffers with pop up/frame rate at City tracks.

What, where , who , when?

So in the end we get Forza 3 1/4
+90 cars, tracks cutted, no porsche, no weather, no night...
But they advertised the game like it is from another planet...

At least they tell the people about the facts. If FM4 has only better physics, I don´t know if it is worth buying it... (Anyway I do :) )

But real fans are never dissapointed right :) So nightracing? who cares? No Porsche? Pff who needs them? Bugatti track cutted? Damn we got the alps... No rain? Pff I hate rain and love the sun... Only 25 cars in Autovista? More than enough... No Pit crew? I don´t need to change tires...

I don't get the comment though.

+90 cars is an 25% increase, and each is more detailed, on the same generation console what more can you ask for?

less desirable tracks cutted but replaced with new real tracks with high detail, maple valley etc are reworked to a higher standard, I have no complaint.

No porsche, sucks but not their fault, and it means 26 or so new slot for new cars.

no weather, I don't take it for granted, but seems people do since F12010 came out?

No night, again seems people take it for granted after Shift 2?

The new physics and new wheels coming out is worth it alone imo, the only real let down in Forza 3 was the driving, if it drives as good as GT5 it has the playability of at least several years. As Forza 3 remains the most played game on my XBOX till now.

So basically F4 didn't raise any bars :grumpy:

But it is the best overall package and that is important.

Rather than like other games which is very good at one thing but frustrating in other regards.

And imo the data from Pirelli is a huge step up in racing game genre, it affects the feel, performane, wear rate, heat characteristics of every tires in different conditions, for a racing simulation tire behavior is almost half of the physics from a driver's point of view.

It depends what you want from a game.

Yes, Pirelli data, is a great step in series, and I am looking forward to experience that without any steering assists :-). 👍
