Lexus and Toyota are to each other as Ford and Lincoln. Lexus vehicles have traditionally been rebadged/reskinned versions of Toyota cars. The IS300 in the states was the Toyota Altezza in Japan, the SC300 was a Toyota Soarer elsewhere, the ES300 was a Camry under the skin, etc.
That said, the LF-A and the FT-1 do not seem to share any real commonality. I don't doubt that Toyota used lessons learned from the LF-A in making the FT-1, but to infer that that makes them the same car would be like saying the Ford F-150 is based on the Model T. Time marches forward, progress progresses, and later car developments typically build upon the lessons learned from earlier ones.
