II Forza 4 wasnt included in the judging its a hollow award. Its like calling Fight Night best boxing game with no real competition.

Just like FM3 wasn't up against GT last year and FM4 wont be up against GT next year. It was still up against a popular NFS game, and NFS is hardly a racing series that no one cares about.

Do they really deserve to be rewarded for releasing a half baked game that is still full of bugs and glitches after nearly a year of it going on sale
Short answer, yes.

Long answer, YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS.

When you have lots of people who can't stop playing this "half baked, unfinished" game, that says it all. Are you forgetting how MANY posts were made on these forums in 2008, '09 and '10 demanding that Kaz release SOMETHING that he could patch up later, so we could have a GT5 before the end of the world or something? And as for other games with better car lists, that is most certainly an opinion, not a fact. And one I don't agree with.

II Forza 4 wasnt included in the judging its a hollow award. Its like calling Fight Night best boxing game with no real competition.
While I'd agree with you that Forza is the only real competition Gran Turismo has, there were other racing games out last year. Although I'm so disinterested in them, all I can tell you is that F1 2011 made some noise around here for a while. ;)

I have to say though that even if Forza 4 had been out around the same time, I'm not quite sure it would make any difference. I'm not exactly having a raging romance with it right now. In fact, I despize the race cars and bots, and wish they would burn in the basement of Hell.

And as for the original topic, congrads to Kazunori and the team from your friends at
:gtpflag:

And the other yahoos who show up around here randomly.

Congratulations PD and to GT5 for being the most awesome game I ever played and probably the most I ever played. Putting all issues aside PD has kept supporting us and will keep doing so in the future so thanks Kaz and company :)

True, people still complaining after one year = people still playing. People complain because they care about the game. Bad games get left behind very quickly.

Anyway, congratulations to Sony/PD for this award.

It was kinda obvious...

GT5 vs Shift 2 vs F1 2010 vs Dirt 3

I don't think it was an obvious win, remember the golden joysticks is a multi platform award. So for a start you've got all the little Xbox owning Sony haters that would vote for anything but GT5. You also had NFS hot pursuit, which in fairness was a great arcade racer (and one of the favorites to win) , Dirt 3 which was also critically acclaimed. F1 2010 was a very popular online racer.

Remember how many dimwits vote for these awards and think of some of the past winners. I think it goes to show what a great following GT has to outnumber the sony haters and the arcade racing community.

Concratulations to all the GT5 team. A very much deserved win and a nice way to end a terrible year for those in Japan.

Congrats to PD, but "racing" game of the year?? Methinks not, the "racing" is the poorest part of the game.

Remember "Racing" counts as online and offline. I agree offline AI needs improvement, but I've had some tremendous online races and met some true racing fanatics.

Just my opinion but I think GT5 is one of the best online racing sims out there at the moment on console.

There's really not much he can pick out of your statements. Again, someone, in this case it's robbo6, tries to be too literal and says "racing" is the least of what GT5 does well. Give it a break, the GT5 "likers" enjoy what they have and will for years to come.

I gave 360 a chance after the PS3's weak start, but I knew what I invested in when I got the PS3. I grew up with PlayStation and I love that it's still the console that has the most exclusives that I like. It's done this without going the M$ route of Kinect kinect kinect. I hate Microsoft.

Before I get flamed for this im not a troll or a forza fanboy or anything but why congratulate PD, They released a game that was only half finished and since then we have had patch after patch to get it on par with other games out there, There are games with better car lists as just one example.

Do they really deserve to be rewarded for releasing a half baked game that is still full of bugs and glitches after nearly a year of it going on sale, And lets not all forget this DLC shenanigans and the fact that its taking until December for it to get fixed !!!

Also feel sorry for the people with this game who don't have their PS3 connected to the internet for whatever reason the game they are stuck with since launch.

No, they don't deserve to be rewarded.

This is obviously a win by default, not for product excellence.

Awarding a shoddy product, can only set the tone for less game quality in the future.

True, people still complaining after one year = people still playing. People complain because they care about the game. Bad games get left behind very quickly.

People complain because they do care about the degredation of the formerly best by far, racing game on console.

But they don't keep playing it for that reason.

Thats more a case of, "only game in town" for the most part.

Now FM4 is out, at least it has some competition.

You're right. Besides the shoddy part, Shoddy is Shift 2. Shoddy 2.

Yeah, maybe I was a little hasty on the choice of "shoddy".

"Inferior" is probably a better descriptive.

My thoughts exactly... best driving game of the year would be more appropriate...

Yes, Shift 2 is Inferior 2.

More like Shift 2 Unfinished... because if they had solved all the bugs, imput lag and freezing issues it would have been a great Racing game...

WHOOOAAA lol ^^^^ I yelled that really loud in my head. I scared myself. Sleep deprivation. :)

Exactly. Calling GT5 buggy or glitchy (I've heard) is nonsense. Nothing could have competed against GT5 this past year. Shift 2 AI was a complete bust I heard, which I know is true, unlike buggy or glitchy comments.

GT5 was released after the 2010 golden joystick awards, so it qualified for it, this year. Ive played Shift 2. Its buggy as hell. I was in a mild tuned BMW on their "Daytona" course. I was only going 120 MPH but the damn thing locked up my ps3. I had to hold the power button forever to reset the system. I haven't played the game since. If they have less car and courses how come it couldn't look any better than GT5?

Forza 4 is better, I don't own it or an xbox but it's better.Shift 2 was almost as bigger joke as triplebollocks.:dopey:

Shift 2 was not a patch on GT5, the only things they did better was the car list that was more refined for the racer/car fan, IMHO, and the livery editor (which you can't decorate in my little ponies etc).

I really wanted this game to be be good but it was quite simply undrivable and the AI were far too agressive.

Dirt 3 loks good but the DLC really hacks me off, you have to pay a small fortune for all the good cars. F1 2010 wasn't all that hot, not bad, but not all that hot. GT5 for me!

Granted, but there are actually a "few" people who don't play online. Correct me if I'm wrong but GT sold 5 million or so copies? So do we know exactly how many are online on average? I would doubt that it's even 10% of 5 million, which means a lot more people do not play it online. It is a major mistake for a game company to neglect the offline aspect of gameplay.

:dunce:

If you consider the seasonals to be a part of the online mode, you can increase your stats to at least half of the customer base.

Taking into account actual online gaming, I believe you're spot on. I don't enjoy playing against other people, network issues and the lag correction mechanisms spoil the flowness of the race, it's hard to enjoy racing when the other cars are twitching on a straight line. It's great fun and probably the best that can be done, but it isn't the same fluidic experience as racing offline.

Back on topic, I believe it's a pretty amusing award and a well deserved honor. Some might find my comment a little bit emotional or excessively devoted to PD, but after everything that happened in their country they're still pushing development and keeping the team motivated to deliver more content.

I'm an offline player.

I'm sure GT5 is still second most played on the PSN, after Black Ops, last I heard.

A baby with a tux and an eyepatch. *chills* so crazy

The votes were in before Spec II came out. Of course, Spec II will win next year.

There are a great number of reasons to hate a monopoly which is trying its darndest to dominate the gaming world the same way they dominate the PC world. If Forza was my only choice for a racing game featuring a huge number of street cars as well as race cars, and XBox my console, I'd be a very sad gamer, and stick with those dry and dusty PC sims. Forza does some things very well, which it should, considering the amount of money M$ throws at it. But the problems... ZOMG, the problems...

I know you loathe the racing in GT5 courtesy of the bots, or whatever your current beef of the week is. But amazingly, many of us don't mind them so much - in fact, the Arcade bots seem to come alive with a little boost to the Difficulty slider in the Options. I actually like them now! Of course, this is Arcade, where the only reward is the racing and replay saving for Photo Mode. But hey, it's a start.

I'm sure that all but the most blind GT fankid wanted at least a slightly different GT5 than we got. But this is what we've got. And as said before, PD kept at it even with a disaster that obliterated the northern corner of the country and periodically cut vital electricity for many weeks. I wouldn't doubt that just about everyone in Japan lost a loved one, and if not, it still has to be a heavy burden to your psyche knowing what happened, and can happen again. On top of that, there was a huge move of much of the studio hundreds of miles out of range of these issues, if not most of it, and that had to be a big disruption itself for a week or more.

Even with all of this, those hearty souls are still plugging away at this game, improving it for us, and outside of the DLC packs, so far for free. And these aren't small improvements. These people really care about this game, which is part of the reason I care about it so much, and for the team. If this doesn't make anyone happy, oh well on them.

even a half finished GT5, was the best racing game when it was released.

Would you be kind enough to name 1?...for example?

Can you name a perfect game?
Not to mention the massive scale and multiple things that GT5 offers (Racing, Car Collector, Car Information, Car History-Museum, Photo Mode, Tracks with Weather / Time effect, Tuning, bob-spec, Suits, Helmets, Horns etc etc ...) or the level of detail were it was/is possible.

Also feel sorry for the people with this game who don't have their PS3 connected to the internet for whatever reason the game they are stuck with since launch.
oh you mean people like the idiots that use CFW?

I am not a die hard GT5 fun but this is plain an simple BS...

Glad to see some members continue to fit the GTPlanet negativity stereotype. Some you must be miserable in life.

Here we have a thread that highlights PD's accomplishment and it's littered with the same ole' same ole'.

PD - Please remember that MOST of us offer our congratulation and respect to you and your teams hard work.

Thank you.
