Personally I think you are reading too much into it. GT5 will sell bucket-loads no matter when it launches. Their primary audience has been chomping at the bit to get their hands on the game for years now. Sure, there are times that may be better than others in relation to other games releases, and they will get factored into the decision, but I think the completeness of the game itself will have more of a bearing on when it hits the shelves than market conditions.

Agree, a game like F1 2010 ( or FIFA, NHL, etc. ) is dependant on short term hype and sales as it will be replaced next year by F1 2011.
Most sales will have to be made in the first year as opposed to GT5 which will probably last about, say, 3 years before GT6 arrives.
It relies therefore on consistent sales with the occassional peak over a longer period, making the period in which it is launched mostly irrelevant.

Absolutely right analog. You only have to look at past games so see how consistently, and well, they have sold.

QFT. Metal Gear Solid 4 was released in June, also a slow month for games, and was bundled with the ubiquitous gray 80GB PS3. It sold very well, and was also a big seller for holiday 2008.

And perhaps consistency isn't actually that important either, maybe they're focussing on total sales during its lifespan, if most copies are sold in the first, middle or last year would then be irrelevant also.
And if the sales slip somehow during a period, they could add DLC which would make sense even if it were free, as it could add new features or content to persuade doubters or regain interest midway during its life.:)

Yep, I think we both agree, there really is no bad time to launch the game - so come on PD, let us 'av it!

You guys have to realize that the game industry is not what it used to be and is rapidly expanding every year. You mean to tell me that a game like COD which absolutely smashed records and forced at least 5 games last year to have their release dates changed would have no effect on GT5? Also if you think that Move and Natal will not have any effect then you are also mistaken. Both are HUGE releases for their respective companies and it will be vital to place their release when buyers have enough money in their pockets. Anyways just my opinion.

Same news we've already got.

Not the releasedate, the announcement of the releasedate...
*hintE3hint*

I wonder if the next KB video will mock FM3 a bit like the "Move Video"

Also I wonder if a "Dear Playstation" GT5 Video will be made for the games release.
This couldbe epic. Speaking of which have we had a "Dear Playstation My Dad????"
GT5 could be the "Daddy" video I guess.

Weve had Gran/Boyfriend/Steve/Girlfriend etc

Am I the only one who will feel a tad dissapointed when the release date is announced. No more speculation and guessing.

Any guesses on what the retail price for GT5 will be?

My guess is $89.99 Canadian

, I'm with you on this. What the fun is searching through GTP section if there are no rants, complaints and desperate posts, begging for a release date? :)

At least the Rumble Strip will still be there. ;)

This forum will definitely change. Mostly likely for the better. But there won't be as much bickering, and I'll miss that somewhat:dunce: No, really. Until rumors of GT6 begin, (probably in 2012), this will be a different place..

I kinda agree on that. Maybe you got a rush out of guessing what will happen next, kinda like that Epic TV show you loved because it had such a unpredictable yet fascinating story that kept you guessing.

Nope not me! I will be here looking to see what races are going on(GTP). And looking for tunes for the cars i will be racing!

Nah. You'll be alone. :sly:

Edit: Oops! Inadvertantly spoke for others.......please step away from the flamethrowers.....Thank you.

If PD stay on defense, like you say, and keep delaying the game til there is a time when no game would affect the sales, then they'll never release the damn game. PD have nothing to worry about and it's other games who will be changing release dates to not get caught up in the GT5 sales frenzy.

There will still be tons of people complaining that it'll get delayed again or that the date is too far away.

This game has SO MUCH to show us yet:
Ive never known a game to have such expectations with so little known about it and a development so long.

Not only that but for me we have a game thats been promising so many new breakthroughs and if indeed are included will set the benchmark for racing games for several years to come.

Game
Weather?
Night Racing?
16 Cars?
Improved AI
Improved Audio
Improved Physics
Improved Graphics
Online Racing and Lobbies?
Online Car Clubs?
Online Photo & Video Sharing?
Home Interaction?

Hardware
Clutch Support & H-Shifter
1080p Graphics
720p 3DTV Mode
Multiscreen Support?
7.1 Audio
Headtracking
Move Support

Really whats to get excited about, its just another game isnt it, lol!

2012? That would be 2 years, and this generation games need 3 years(or more) to be developped.

They will have GT5 as base so GT6 will be updated with extra features and car's and track's...

Not when gt6 is supposed to be just an updated GT5. all the hard work went into GT5 so that GT6 can be finished in a short period of time.
Plus 2013 is when next gen consoles are supposed to come out and many of us are certain gt6 will be for the ps3.

Easy guys, don't forget the psp2 coming out soon. I bet kaz is dreading the phone call from the cheif execs" Mr Kaz, as you are aware our new handheld needs a triple A title" sound of shotgun " uh Mr Kaz....."

I think he was stating 2012 as when the GT6 rumors will start. Not the release of the game. Which is entirely possible.

But I'm focused on GT5 right now. What may become the largest leap the series will ever see from one GT to the next. 👍

We have a winner. That's exactly what I said. I expect serious talk/rumors of a GT6 to begin in 2012 when our GT5 passion fades (though it'll be minimal to non-existent due to the sheer size of this game :))

If they happen to put out GT6 in 2012, i would buy even if i wasn't finished with GT5!

Hah, I recall rampant GT5 speculation back in spring 2007 (think about that,) so if GT6 is coming out 2013-14ish we better get going on that ASAP. We'll never top the 1533418 page GT5 general discussion thread.

I can't believe it's less than one month until E3 2010. Amazing, and I'm still very excited. Calm, but excited. I'm guessing we'll see alot of Nurburgring and alot of the SLS AMG. But I'm hoping for a surprise. night racing at 'The 'Ring' would be good to see.

There is a strange feeling going back to the old threads, and reading people's hopes and dreams of GT5's release. All that hope. :(

People guessing it will be out in 2007,2008,2009, would be livid to find out that come mid 2010 they would still be waiting.

Another thing that is funny is those little release charts and diagrams around the time GT5p was announced/released, and them being off by at least 2 years. :dopey: I remember PD laughing at the prospect of a 2010 release.
Sooner than you think indeed.

I am sure glad that it is 2010, because if you told me that I would be stuck playing GT4 (bad physics quarks 🤬) for 5 years into Next Gen, I would be a little more than upset.

Arrrggggghhhh

Guys come on, lets just talk about GT5 never mind GT6.
