Have they announced when move is actually going to be released yet? Anyone know.

Hopefully we'll only get further details and not further delays. :):ouch::dunce:

Release date, please.
Features list, please.
New trailer, please.
New tracks, please.
New cars, please.
New manufacturers, please.
New news, please.

Yes, please! 👍

Now we know E3 will have GT5

I was pretty sure it was going to be shown after Kaz said that he would not be at the 24 hours of LeMans due to being at E3.

UPDATE: Sony has provided MCV with the following statement – "We will be announcing further details of Gran Turismo 5 in June in Los Angeles during the Electronic Entertainment Expo. Until that time we cannot comment on rumour or speculation."
I hate when they say that. To me "further details in June" means "a few details in June".

Say BLOWOUT, 🤬!

Just this, and I will be a happy man:tup:

Yes, it does sound like that. It almost sounds like that's all we'll continue to get at the next shows; more details. As if E3 is just one more stop along a long path of nothingness.

But of course, they can't come out and simply say; ¡EXPECT A BLOWOUT OF EPIC PROPORTIONS! That's not professional and it certainly would be less surprising
.

November, I believe.

I believe its earlier in the fall, the Kevin Butler video that mentions November states that Move is already a great success, so it would have been out already. It'll probably be close to Socom's release which will probably be in September.

Was that video before the delay though? Move was originally supposed to be out by March, then June, then...

it came out after GDC which was when they said it would be released in the fall.

I agree with you that was the point of my post. I was saying you can't just ramp up production.
It depends. In the early days, the PS3 was delayed a while because blue-violet lasers and Cell processors were in short supply. Those were the crucial components that hamstrung the PS3's release a bit, and forced a delay for Europe. Since Dijital Majik's post is a quote from January, it's a few months old already.

Robin's idea has some merit. If a new model is coming, let supply thin out a bit so there's room for it. Also, a GT5 bundle is likely, and this is probably going to be tens of thousands of units or more. PS3s will need to be reserved for that.

This.

I am still waiting for the white ps3 shown in some previous vids. Plus the bonus pack thing. Plus new diverse models surrounding a series of franchise releases over the next 4-6 months, preloaded with the 3d firmware update, fat with monterous HDD's, ready for the 3d tv releases.

All sound reasons for the famished supply.

3 weeks left!

So, either:

1. You fear being scarred again by Sony (so you act tough).

2. You're really pessimistic and have little hope.

3. Trolling is your middle name. And your first name. And your last name.

Which one is you? Or all three?👍:dunce:
None of the above! ;)

It was just a joke, nothing more, nothing less. :p

Firstly oh yes 3 weeks is here!
Ive booked E3 day off work as I normally do and this years E3 seems the best or most exciting since the current consoles were releasing.

Regards shortages I dont think its a problem. Sometimes companies do this to increase demand particulary when software releases are driving new hardware sales. Personally I think theyve reduced production of slim to let retaillers bundle off the "Fat" systems still in wholesalers etc.

As a company you would want to do that anyways...
Sony's software catalogue has been really good for exclusives the past 6 months and thats going to continue.
You can be rest assured this year 2010 will see Sony reach its peak again. I actually dont recall a time even in PS2s lifespan were it had so much in the pipeline coming do you guys?

Now we know E3 will have GT5 but why PD have you supported Move? I really can't express how disapointed I will be if this rumour is true. Make hardcore fans wait while you impliment a rip off (Wii) product that as far as I can see will be no use whatsoever to a GT game. I know Sony pay some wages but it's about time they stuck it to Sony and said NO.

I dont get your issue. Why be disappointed you can play the game with:
  • Normal controller
  • FFB Wheel
  • Move controller
  • 2D HDTV 1080p
  • 3DTV 720p
  • Triple Screens

Socom showed that with Move it can be used like a normal controller.
You now dont have to have both hands in the same position like a pad. Simply use the analogue in one hand and the trigger on the other?
It could use the tracking of the ORB instead of our heads for a "head cam". Even better than before this might not be on rails for just left/right but viewing total 3D freedom in the cockpit.
So you will be able to lean forwards, tilt and position your head up and down. Thats cool but combine that 3D movement happening in 3D vision to give you a totally new experience.

Dont forget that "3DTVs" and "Move" have been confirmed to indeed be supported together and as yet we have not seen this demonstrated at all.
Personally I think GT5 will be the first title to show this and be one of the first ever games to demonstrate 3DTV/Move working together.

"Headtracking via PS3 Eye & Face Detection may not be supported as I cant see how it would work with a player wearing 3D Glasses and has issues in limited lighting"
Perhaps "Headtracking" will only be possible when playing via "Move"?

Quite obviously he is referring to the fact that fans are being forced to wait for a game that could have been released earlier, would still have run in 1080p for those with 1080p TVs, would still have worked with FFB wheels, and would still have likely supported triple screens. Given that 99.9% of gamers will play the game using a normal controller on a normal 2D TV anyway, he has a very valid point. Support for these new gimmicks could have been added at a later date when the time was right.

Anyway, it doesn't really matter because we are where we are. Those who have a 3DTV and want to play like that, great, good on ya'. If you want to wave a wand around to clean your car and undo bolts, go for it. I'm all for innovation when it really makes a difference, but like the majority of people I just want to be able to play GT5 in the comfort of my own home with the existing hardware I have sat right in front of me. No messing about, no gimmicks.

Uh...yah, but how would you know? :scared:

While I'm not exactly a fan of any of this new type of gaming 3d or Motion(both are kinda pointless to me), I really doubt it took them 5 years to implement something that according to one develper, only took six months. Also, its only some rumor at moment that is happening, it hasn't been confirmed yet so I wouldn't jump to conclusions so soon.

Agree, apart from the fact all these new gadgets or gimmicks have yet to prove their relevance or even add significantly to the gameplay and the fact some may be more excited about new high-tech apparatus then others who were perfectly happy with the experience given so far ( including me ), the main objection I have to all this new hardware options ( whether good or not ) is the simple fact they cost money.

It's a bit easy to evangelize all new technology, especially those which seem quite irrelevant, when you've got big pockets or at least big enough to spend it on leisure equipment.
Only very recently I've got a Full HD telly which does really enhance not only playing a game but also watching TV obviously.
Not sure I want, or am even able if I wanted, to spend money on equipment which only slightly ( or significantly ) enhances playing a game since I'm perfectly happy with the equipment I already invested in.

If "Move" and "3DTV" being incorporated causes delays to producing games then get used to it.

The majority if not all upcoming "Sony In House Studio Games" will very much likely support these new hardware advances. Motion control and 3D vision is the future it seems, its not for going away in 12 months time.
Then again some people just have a bone to grind regards 3D and report silly things like 99.9% of players will use a pad, oh really.....

Having more choices in how to play the game can only be a good thing for everyone.
Also if GT5 having "Move" support is rumour why did Sony go out of their way to speak of GT5 at the GDC "Move" presentation?

I'm not so sure 3D will be around in a few years time, it already failed 2 times before and really doubt it will catch on enough to be a succes.
Maybe in the long term when the technology has evolved enough and the companies not already decided to pull the plug due to losses of investments.

It's just not the quantum leap HD was IMO, and the extra money it requires not an option for most people in this uncertain economic climate.
Bad timing and a technology not fully explored yet ( possible downsides as in health factors apart from the fact a lot of people don't want to watch TV wearing 3D glasses ) doesn't convince me yet.

About getting used to 3D and Move being the reasons of delay, well we don't have a choice really do we?
I'd rather they would have released a special 3D version for the minority of early 3D adopters and whether the Move is worth waiting for is yet to be seen.
Seeing it from Sony's marketing viewpoint I can fully understand this decision if all you want is to squeeze everything out of this opportunity.
From the viewpoint of a consumer I find it regrettable most have to wait for a game to be released for features to be included only significant for a minority so far.

But then again, just my opinion, might be proven wrong ( and probably will be if past predictions are an indicator ).

Your right we dont have a choice really at all.

Billions has been invested in 3D hardware and 3D content by every manufacturer so the situation is not like we had before.
3D as we have today will become mainstream in games, movies and sports just like HD became that.

Prices are not in some cases any higher really this year for 3DTV models compared to last years 2D models.
Right now I could order a Samsung 50" Plasma 3DTV with 3 pairs of glasses for under £1500. The question is why would I want my next tv to be a 2D one?

If anything lack of content at the moment is the biggest issue more than price. I think it could be great in certain games but even owners that buy 3DTVs they may not want to use it all the time. Just like surround sound you dont need to always use it. Perhaps in 2-3 years we will have TVs that dont require glasses but for now well we do. 3D can be good it can be enjoyable but its down to the content. Im an early HDTV owner having one for 5 years already and so people in the market like me now looking for a new TV soon will easily be tempted by 3D models.

GT5 would be one of the main factors to make me want to get a 3DTV this year but if it offers very little added immersion then well I wont be that bothered to get it anytime soon. Will still get a 3DTV but maybe not rush out to get it as their arnt enough movies yet for it and Sony's games would be my biggest incentive right now.

just found this on the web and its good news,
We know that the fans are waiting for it and we want to release it too,” said a Sony representative from Germany. “I think that it’s more painful for us than for the fans that we couldn’t hold the last date. The next time we announce a release date we’ll be one-hundred per cent sure that we can hold it and won’t make the mistake we did with the March date.”

But how long’s the wait going to be Mr. Sony Germany?

“You just have to wait a little longer until we announce a new date, only some days…or weeks.”

So E3 then. Expect Sony to come right out of the gate with the Gran Turismo 5 blow-out. We’re predicting: new trailer, some gameplay details, a bit about the online, release date and then segway into 3D functionality on PS3. Well that’s the way we’d arrange it if we were SCEA. The date’s definitely going to be at E3 though. 100%. We actually wouldn’t be surprised if they dropped an “and you’ll be playing it within the next four weeks” type announcement actually. Then again, a game of Gran Turismo’s magnitude should really have a lengthy PR build-up. We’ll see. But it starts at E3, we’re certain of that.

I guess this is good news and that we will probly be getting the date at E3:)
