Then again, a game of Gran Turismo’s magnitude should really have a lengthy PR build-up. We’ll see. But it starts at E3, we’re certain of that

Screenshots of the updated Nurburgring GP circuit and Nordschleife, playable Demo at the 'Ring too.

They're supposed to have a setup at Le mans in a couple of weeks time aswell.

I'd say it's already started.

I must say I actually dig this kind PR abit better then I do the average commercial ones. Put a demo up at a real race and have real people, the market they are targeting, try it out on hand.

This is going too far, you do realise people take offense at crap like that?
Keep it up and I'll be sending a PM to Jordan, you really don't want this thread locked up a few days before the E3 because of abusing others beliefs?
Oh yes, the daily reminder that we live in a world where Nanny state rules and is served with every meal (yes, even The Last Supper!)

It was just some humour around GT using religion as a basis. Nothing more, nothing less. I could understand if we had turned around and ragged people for believing in some religion, but that wasn't the case, and I'd never do that anyway. People can believe in what they like for whatever reasons they like. Makes no odds to me, but they have to also accept that there are people out there that do not believe in the same things.

If you had come along and said something like, "Come on guys, there might be people around who take offense at this kind of joke!", you probably would not have got the responses that you did. As it stands, you should have sent Jordan a PM anyway instead of just threatening to.

Why you even bother to create such situations, bah...
Im thinking of a word that rhymes with tanker...

Maybe we can talk about E3 again soon?
Guys regards a pre release build up I dont recall GT4 having much in the way of promotion to about a month before release which is roughly when they announce the actual release date? Maybe Im wrong?

Uh, can we drop this nonsense please? Now, discussing the stupid thing too?? Jeepers, humins...

Anyway, less than three weeks out if you can believe it - see? Time does march on. ;) And I'm fully expecting the blowout. Too many people around the world wouldn't be happy with just a release date, so I expect a certain laundry list of goodies to be flaunted to make you want this game above all else.

While I expect you can drive with Move controls, I'm more curious about what else you can do with them. 3D will most likely be a nice bonus, as it would be with any game. But having played a bit of a shooter game in 3D a few months ago, it's not my cup of tea.

I expect it to come last, and Jack Tretton to perhaps even joke about it. "Oh... did we forget something?" As with the GT4 unveiling, I expect we'll get the splash and dash, shock and awe 10 minute overview, and then in a subsequent press briefing, to go into some detail of what cool things GT5 is going to offer off and online, such as Photo Mode/Movie Maker and Online League Building tools. If we have Race Mod and a Livery Editor, I suspect Kaz or someone will whip up a race car. If we have a Track Builder, I expect it to take the form of laying out an autocross course and something like the license challenges with cones, as well as offering a city/rural/mountain environment where you follow established routes to create a race course.

I expect Career Mode to be something much more like an actual racing career. I anticipate the online structure to be quite comprehensive, to include League structures with specific rules as to what cars are permitted and a certain amount of "homologation," so that all permitted cars perform fairly equally. I expect it goes into such lengths that you can have online seasons with a string of tracks and championship points. I also think SONY servers will be set up, as well as the PS3 itself working as a server.

As for what else we'll get, I'm expecting some nice surprises. WE already got the Nurburgring complete complex, and that was a very nice early surprise.

So who was that aimed at? PJ-FFL or myself? Regardless, your comment there was completely out of order. You have personal issues - take them to PM istead of being a disparaging nerd (sorry, I forgot, you paid your premium, it gives you a right to do as you please...) If you have some E3 related news, maybe you could share it with us all instead of desperately dragging your usual hypocritical off-topic post back in line with statements around promotion.

On topic and in response to TenaciousD, if Move is to be implemented, and you are able to control the car with it, do you think it would be reasonable to also expect to be able to steer the car with the usual Sixaxis controls? Personally, I've never had good experiences with motion control in driving games apart from Mario Kart on the Wiii. With no resistance it completely lacks feeling, which is fine in an fun title like Mario Kart, but not so much where moderately real physics are involved.

Regarding a track editor, if we have one, I agree. I think it will be something like a car park where you lay can just lay out cones, and/or a pre-set environment where you can pick a route through it, much like PGR3.

However they structure the race modes, I'm not too botherd, as long as it doesn't take the form of a story mode like Codemasters like to do. I don't mind that approach, but it wouldn't really fit GT5.

I also hope to see footage of my all-time favourite track, "Trial Mountain". I can't wait to see what they have done to that track. I just hope that they haven't messed around too much with it in terms of layout!

I fear that they could show as Tokyo in 3D with MOVE... and smal trailer...

I agree, the only reason to use a steering wheel is the precision of the inputs and FFB, using a motion controller must give a "loose" sensation, and that's bad in a game in which you can't even barely touch the grass. The DS3 can provide a good amount of control and decent laptimes with minor effort, if I didn't have a wheel, I would use the DS3. But I'm going to buy a Move, depending on the games capable of supporting it, it may worth the money. Suck this Nintendo. :dopey: But I still think that the move wouldn't be appropriate for a racing simulation game.

Honeslty, this is one of the things I've been waiting for, I can't wait to see the scenery too, that track combines an awesome layout with gorgeous environment, the favourite by far of 8 in each 10 GT fans. :D

Also, I just hope that they didn't mess up with the elevations, since it's a fictional track the sky is the limit for PD. Regardless of that, Trial Mountain might be coming back to us, Amen to that.

I can only speak for the comments I made and they were not meant offensive although that doesn't rule out the fact some people could take offence to it, if so, then so be it ( as taking offense to it is up to you ).
It wasn't obscene language or even rude IMO, just a slight humorous reference to a big religion which is part of our shared culture whether you believe in it or not ( and i don't although raised part Roman Katholic as well as Protestant I am an Atheist or more accurately Agnostic ).

As an Atheist I also can take offense to a lot of things religious people claim in name of religion, so it isn't a one way street.
And since it is part of our culture, it is bound to be made fun of, as everything in our culture is bound to made fun of in a free society.
Just because it is labelled a religion doesn't suddenly make it less prone to jokes than, say, a political persuasion which you also believe in or not.

Religion is a choice, not something you're born with you can't help ( which shouldn't be made fun of IMO whatever it is ) and threatening to help close an unrelated thread because of some posts you find offensive is absurd.
If these posts are indeed offensive the Mods will remove them.

Now to return on-topic, 20 days, that's less than 3 weeks yippeee....:)

Yeah, I'm totally comfortable and happy with the DS3. With a wheel I guess it's more fun and closer to reality, but also more effort and for me, I was a lot slower with it. If I could have a rig totally dedicated to GT5, I would definitely use a wheel though, but in my all-purpose media room, DS3 is just fine.

The thing I like about Move is that it is being designed for a console that already has a good quality, standard primary controller. Move just adds another option for games developers to support if they choose to. Too many games on the Wii fail because developers have no choice but to make use of the Wiimote and nunchuck, which doesn't always work. I therefore expect motion-based games (in part or in full) on the PS3 to be a little bit more considered and refined.

There is just something about that track which I really like. The layout is great, and the environment as you say is gorgeous and varied. It has lots of elevation changes, swooping curves, tunnels, forest, rocks...probably one of the best fictional tracks of any racing game I can remember.

A belief is a belief and if someone is offended they can go to 'Hell' pun intended. :sly:

I really hate the world we live in sometimes, especially when somebody believes in something that to many is pure fantasy yet this belief cannot be questioned or made fun of as it may cause offence!! What a darn joke!!:)

My belief is that believing many of the religions is just as ridiculous as me being a Jedi - and all carry about the same weight!! A belief is just that, and often beliefs carry with them very little if no truth at all. It is fine to believe in something and feel free to do so but at the same time it is fine for anybody else to make light hearted fun out of it should they choose - as after all it is just a beleif.:)

Now I am off back to the church of PD, gonna dance nekked in front of an effigy of KY whilst rubbing tofu all over myself. This is my belief and you are more then Welcome to make fun of it:tup:

Ok back to GT5, well I pray that we will get some solid info from the Gods at long last so help me! All I want is a really in depth preview of the game with many HD vids as well as a solid release date!!! I have been a good Polyphony Digitalarian since 98 and hope that all mighty KY delivers for good deeds of me and other PD'ers alike the world over....👍

I can't stand the way Sony treat us. I've just bought NFS: Shift to satisfy my needs for racing (I've tired of Prologue). I may not buy GT5 when it release :D

You'll sell it within 3 weeks:indiff:.

I was really looking forward to shift but after borrowing it, I soon grew bored. I am back playing GT5P as I put it down because for months I could not get online but have moved now to a new place and problem fixed!!

I feel now finally that GT5 is on the horizon:)

Then you, sir, are not a true racing simulation fan. And that game will keep you entertained for about two weeks, then you'll be looking for something else to play. (GT5!?)

Religion, beliefs, NFS: Shift, pad vs. wheel, all in one page. I disagree with PAPPACLART on the acceptable offense debate; agree with PAPPACLART hardvibes and R1600Turbo on the Shift issue; and finally agree with TokyoDrift in the sense that GT can be anjoyable with the pad and that sometimes has to be the control method to use because a wheel demands a lot more in room space and availability.

I think I didn't go off topic here, although I'm not really sure what's this topic about anyway, apart from being a countdown to E3 :D

Wow, that has to be one of the most "on-topic" posts I've read in a long time!

I think move will be brilliant for the ps3 but i dont want/care to see it in gt5, its not needed. With the sub controller it can be used as a normal pad with accurate motion sensing(socom 4) unlike the sixaxis which is a load of crap in my opinion.

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/108/1089331p2.html

This is a nice idea about how E3, (for Soony), will likely go down, though it doesn't blatantly mention GT5.

1. PS Move

2. Sequels (GT5, duh)

3. 3D gaming (GT5 again, duh)

So, actually, 2 of those apply to GT5. Sequels and 3D gaming. So maybe we'll see extended videos and demo footage of it?
:)

👍

I agree with everything you said then except the part where you disagree with PAPPACLART and I am very offended:p:D hehe

By all means go and spend all that money just to enjoy a couple of older racing games. You'll only regret doing so once GT5 lands, but that's OK, it aint' my cash!

I`m not saying i will sell my ps3 and not bye gt5 , im just saying i`m getting tired of waiting .

Well, if you've got the cash to buy 2 consoles then why don't you?
Don't use it as an argument or thinly disguised "threat" to make an obvious statement ( we all are tired of waiting, get over it or buy an X-box like you proposed ).

I never said you were, I just think that you will regret spending all that money just to play a couple of exclusive racing games. If you are using it as a reason to buy an Xbox 360 for other things as well, by all means have at it.
