GT Planet has its fair share of biased members but then what do you expect here.
Let me say that Ive not been a regular posting member here that long and have found GTP members at times less friendly and at times even less helpful towards each other than some other forums. I dont mean that to me but in general to each other. Sure plenty of arguing over silly stuff for the sake of arguing, like the recent posts here regards religion and even now X360 wise cracks. Some of us as gamers actually game for "fun" and dont have to limit ourselves to some kind of brand loyality or fanboy opinion. Its fine having a preference but I hate system bashing thats done for the wrong or silly reasons.
As for FM3 being that bad, rubbish come round to my house and play it with a Fanatec/Buttkicker/Triple screens and tell me its not a fun game.
Does it have issues, is it limited in many ways, yep certainly but it also can be fun and well thats still something I play games for, simple entertainment.
Is it a fantastic racing game sim, no as it doesnt really simulate racing as a motorsport that accurately.
As you point out in your opening statement, this is Gran Turismo PLanet.
I would expect to meet Enthusiasts of the series here. Some may be more rabid than others but I expect that also.
I've been posting here since about the time of the GT4 release.
I'm not a regular participant of many other forums so my experience is not vast in that respect. Of those I do, I havn't noticed a big difference here.
Most of my time has probably been spent in the GT4-200pt thread, wherein there is a closer comradery generally than across the board.
While there is at times some fanboyism going on here, sometimes ones preferential enthusiasm is interpreted as such.
At this point in time I would caution against too harsh a critique, since many of the posts made here carry the ever growing burden of frustration borne out of a 5+ year wait with still no release date for the next GT(5). Something I share as well. As with probably most of them, I thought we'd be playing it by now.
I play other racing games, FM3 among them and I think its a good game. I enjoy playing it. However for me it does not have the feel, flavor, and draw that GT4 has. I'll never come close to logging near the amount of hours playing it that I have in GT4. It just doesn't have the combination that produces the same appeal.
IMHO NFS Shift on the other hand was absolute crap. They didn't even bother to debug the game before they released it on the gaming public. Having said that, I would also say I thought it had the potential to be as good a game if not better than FM3, had it been debugged and polished up some. The loss of potential was more disappointing than the bouncing bugs. A game like that will be an affront to most GT players, and rightfully so. Frankly, it should be an affront to any player.
Well I was once hyped for this game. I like getting excited about brewing storms but after this time, newsbreaks aren't fun for me.
I for one wanna make it known that Sony or whoever has pushed the game back this far has lost my interest. I'm not gonna get excited about waiting to learn or hear more.
I feel the same way.
My time for all that was last year. Needless to say it was for naught.
I only want to here one thing now. Thats when I ask my local game store if they have GT5 and I hear them say
"yes".
All the rest from here on out is inexplicably linked in my paranoid psyche to the Sony B*ll S*it machine.
Especially not if I'm having an epic online battle.
