I agree. I've pretty much abandoned Sport Mode for the custom races and I'm hopeful for the future. It makes me hope that they double the size of the fieldIt’s so cool to see all the things you can put together yourself. I’ve put together an N24 Classic race. It’s not finished yet, but the cars are ready. A field consisting of Porsche Clubsport, M3 ’89 and Evo, Merc 190, Alfa 155, Ford Sierra, M3 ’97. All with as close to the original paintwork as possible, except for one car each. My in-house painter has created matching designs for those. I’m not quite finished putting it all together yet. But you can spend hours on it.
It’s always nice to find inspiration here in the thread

I don’t know if your point invalidates the other. I didn’t perceive any holes, let alone giant ones…the “mystery car” it would source its logic from would be the one you saved to the custom grid slot, not some all-purpose shadow car.Ya, no we aren't. What you are suggesting misses one giant hole your logic, and that is, what car is it choosing from?
If the glitch were stealing a file from a Sophy supported car, then every glitch car would work like that other (mystery) car. Ergo, every car would work flawlessly. Also, it doesn't explain why Sophy cars are supported on one track, but not others. Especially, the new Power Pack cars, since they have a Sophy file.
The only answer is that it is car + track.
Use the glitch with the Unimog at Catalunya. The Unimog get's confused and drives straight through La Caxia (turn 10). Why there? Well, one possibility is that the game uses the new configuration, but the track is modelled accurately where the old configuration is still in place and there's no collision wall to stop you following the old track. Once it hits the cones though, the collision seems to make it realize that it has gone the wrong way, which is somewhat interesting to watch.
Everything else I have tested works fine.
So, it would appear, the is no "knowledge" of Catalunya for the Unimog (where to stop, where to go, where to turn). It if were stealing a file from another car, it should overshoot every corner, but it only overshoots that one.
I WISH they would just adopt a single default file, then every car would work with Sophy.
Oh man, collecting them was a pain is the a** as expected. I started this little project something like two months ago, connecting every day to see if a car I needed was available, to finally be able to race this 60 laps race.Crazy. I’m only laughing because I’m doing that very thing with my GT1 grids(only six cars though)! Also collecting them in all their standard colors to vary the look of the different races.
I can only share your feeling about the 90s cars era. Absolute peak !I feel the 1990s are peak era for cars. The variety of low and high powered cars without being too over the top. The very few in GT1, even though GT2 have an even better car list, make me appreciate the first game so much more when cutting the GT7 car list down to those legacy cars. Brought back a bit more fun to GT7, for me.
May Yamauchi hears you.I see I'm not the only one who is dying for multile folders in favorites![]()
If it were a borrowed file, hack cars would not make mistakes. Ergo, they are not borrowing files. They either have them, or don't have them (albeit incomplete). Remember, some cars do not work with the hack whatsoever.I don’t know if your point invalidates the other.
This seems to be the best way for custom races. It also mirrors what the difficulty settings do, if the game is allowed to choose it's own field. I usually equalize downforce (as much as possible) and try to reduce the gap from lowest PP to highest PP, keep power and weight close.Picking cars from the last two decades here and there to make for a good 24h endurance race at N24. I'm not going to bother with a too complex BoP, I'm just gonna balance the weight and power and modify a few small things to make it all more dynamic.
If I use a Rabbit car, I should also use boost weak? BTW, I am with the regular AI.It's a car you use that is clearly faster than the rest of the field including you.
This mitigates the rubber band that you see where AI cars gain a lot of speed if you're 1st and makes the AI cars not reduce their pace if you're falling behind.
In summary it makes the rest of the AI cars maintain their pace during the entire race.
I am not sure, but I don't think the rabbit car works with regular AI. What the Rabbit car does is eliminate (or at the very least significantly reduce to the point that is unnoticeable) the variance on the AI cars lap times (aka rubberbanding). This works because if you are never in P1 they don't magically gain 20kph advantage. At the same time if P1 (the rabbit) slows down, it's still faster than you so it doesn't matter and the rest of the field keeps lapping at the same pace. This is with boost on weak.If I use a Rabbit car, I should also use boost weak? BTW, I am with the regular AI.
IMHO, I think the first question people need to ask is "do I need pitstops". If you are running races that are 1 hour or less, you don't need them. If you don't stop, you don't need to worry about large gaps.If I use a Rabbit car, I should also use boost weak? BTW, I am with the regular AI.
I do races usually around 40 minutes. With tyres x 4 and fuel x 2. And boost weak. In your opinion, should I consider ditching pit stops?IMHO, I think the first question people need to ask is "do I need pitstops". Yes. Those races are too short. If you are going to do races of over an hour, then it COULD be worth it. Also, turn your tires down to x3. It's a better match for X2 fuel.I do races usually around 40 minutes. With tyres x 4 and fuel x 2. And boost weak. In your opinion, should I consider ditching pit stops?
Like @suomi1 suggested, use a mix of PP settings. One more question, to balance the non-full throttle that Regie uses, how much should I lower the power of my car?
As you can see in the photo, the pp of the cars that I race with, are very close. I use the blue RX8.Yes. Those races are too short. If you are going to do races of over an hour, then it COULD be worth it. Also, turn your tires down to x3. It's a better match for X2 fuel.
Like @suomi1 suggested, use a mix of PP settings.
For example, in my Reggie races, I have a 20pp gap from the fastest cars to the slowest cars. As you go slower, you can decreased the gap, so for cars around 600pp, you can go from 595-605. Organize your grid from highest PP to lowest PP. If you use downforce, equalize it across cars as much as possible. I also use a HP limit so no car can dominate on the straights.
Also, the position of an AI car affects it's pace. Basically, don't worry too much about equalizing the cars too much. Get them all within a range and you should be good to go.
