Damn why is the IA so slow driving the new Hypercars ? At Le Mans I am just breezing past them in straights. I have to set boost to 5 or 6 to match their speed. On the hardest setting, boost weak, they lap at around 3min40, which is kinda ridiculous (my best lap at the TT is 3'26, and we do not even have full power there).

It's not like that with Group C cars.

Le Mans is the track where rubberbanding hits the hardest due its long straight lines. You won't be able to enjoy something satisfying there until Sophy can drive the new hypercars. And even then you'll need a rabbit in front.

I did have a good time few years ago with the basic AI when I did a multi-class championship driving in the lower class. But at the time I didn't really realize what was actually happening.

At the moment, we are entirely dependent on the choice Polyphony Digital will make or not to let Sophy learn to drive these cars. And I don't see how we could report this issue to them except by spamming Kaz's X account.

They’ve got the data. They see how many of us play. Probably only chance are at Q&A interviews. Wouldn’t be an up against the wall question to ask if one day will SOPHY drive every car in GT7 or a future Gran Turismo game.

Hey there, how's the workaround to let Sophy drive cars that are not actually compatible for Sophy? Please let me know as I have a nice grid and Sophy can't use the RX8 on the Nordschleife. Would be appreciated

Make a grid with cars that Sophy can drive, then sell one of the cars. Enter that race with one of the new cars, and the car you sold will be replaced with whatever you are driving.

It doesn't work for all the cars. Also, like you found with the RX8, some of the cars won't work on some of the tracks. It seems like Spa and the Nurb are the two that cause some of the cars problems.

As for tune, for this set up, don't tune. Throw them in raw. I've found that, for Reggie, trying to balance it is work for nothing. It's more fun to just giv'r. Also, difficulty is easier to control because you can judge where you'll finish based on your relative PP differential.

I wanted to add that what I do for Reggie and the GR3 cars is use them mostly stock but I equalize all the downforce to 400-600. That's the default for most of them.

Sophy 2.1 was the last time we saw anything regarding Sophy and GT7, and that was over a year ago. I think it's safe to expect no more additions.

The Suzuki Carry and the Honda One work with Sophy but still lack official support. The F3500B works the same as the F3500A, but the B still has no official support. I haven't tried the cheat with the hypercars, but I would not be surprised to find that they work with Sophy.

Sophy 3 was added for the power pack. Not sure what it does that's improved from 2.1. Qualifying maybe? Either way, I doubt there will be any addition that cannibalizes sales of the power pack. Sad.

BTW, I can confirm that the hypercars work with the Sophy hack. 😒

Which makes sense because they will likely be carried over to GT8. It's unlikely that we will see any change in official support in GT7

@Bojador Reggie has improved quite a bit since last year. The best racing happens if you throw away any idea of balancing the cars and use them with their base setting. Let the system balance it out for you.

I've tried recently after seeing your and other people's posts, but I just can't. For me Sophy is so much better (most of the times) because I like to have battles in the midfield and Reggie is only fun when you're battling for top positions.

What if I create the race using a hypercar and then change the car? Idk if this is even possible.

Here's what I suggest, add a little power to the cars that you are not driving.

For instance, when BoP is on, the BMW goes to 666hp. Slap a mid range turbo on the other cars and leave your stock. It should make things interesting.

Even down on power, the BMW does decently well!

If you want to create a "Gr.1 Prototype Series" with only real cars, there's a sizable pool to choose from now:

5 Hypercar (Toyota + Ferrari + Porsche + BMW + Peugeot)
5 Group C (Porsche + Mercedes + Jaguar + Mazda + Nissan)
3 LMP1 '16 (Porsche + Audi + Toyota)
3 "transitional" early WEC LMP1 (Audi + Peugeot + Toyota)

Or, you can create a mini-LM with duplicates. There's no multi-class racing, but this only matters when it comes to results. LMGT3 cars can't compete for overall win, but they do have overall classification as well as class position. There's 4 LMGT3 in GT7 which competed this year (Ferrari, Porsche, Mercedes and Lexus). Maybe complete the grid with old Mustang or BMW (I'd love to have the M4 GT3, let's hope it comes to the game).

Classic NASCAR is a bit different than other types of cars I race. It’s been the same since I first started testing it. The biggest difference with Reggie are all aids are used. SOPHY only use ABS.

The first six races are Reggie. The last race at HSR is SOPHY. SOPHY is more realistic in trying to drive the cars without aids. Reggie is more on rails and doesn’t necessarily seem confined to limits. Limits in car physics and even track limits. I’ve felt Reggie is a program with less parameters/restraints/rules than “PD”-SOPHY. At times it’s near Terminator SOPHY levels of driving until the rubberbanding and the brake checking and divebombing silliness it does. I’m genuinely driving fast and it’s given me these results in these classic car set ups since the start.

I think I found the right Hypercar set up. I added a medium turbo and a power adjuster, then I set the adjuster to 70%. This is the third or fourth try. I nailed the start which gave me the advantage. If this were a longer race, it would have ended differently.

For all those looking for a good GR3 set up, here is a video of my setup. This has NO BOOST. Cars above 730pp are set to full power, so the Ferrari, Mercedes, and Audi are in the 740pp+ range. The highest PP is the Subaru BRZ with the power set to just over 500hp.

All downforce is set to 400/600

For cars under 730pp, like my Alfa Romeo, I add the medium turbo and adjust the power so the car crosses the 730pp minimum. Otherwise, the gap from the slowest cars to the fastest cars is too much. This plays out better (imho) than turning the power down on the higher PP cars.

Since sophy was introduced to custom race I mainly used it, but since there is lot of stuff not compatible with Sophy I decided to check reggie. And it is much better than I rememberded. On boost weak it has pretty good pace it also tries to overtake other drivers, and I think it uses 100% throttle not 90 like it used to. How is your opinion on it?

It still uses 97% throttle after the first braking zone from my test after the most recent update.

I've not been as down on Reggie as some. I understand its pace and racecraft isn't for some, but I do think it's the most race-y, in terms of racecraft, of any GT non-Sophy AI, and it has pretty decent pace with Boost Weak and your own car's ECU/power restrictor set to around 96% (only do this after the custom race settings have been confirmed and you're in the pre-race menu, otherwise the AI, for a custom grid, will adopt the reduced percentage value of your ECU/power restrictor, or for random rivals, the grid will be formed around the lower PP level, and will negate the intended effect of the percentage reduction to balance the non-100% AI throttle).

I am a silver on average in time trials with the (very) odd gold, and yes, if I really go full sweat mode, I can outpace the AI, but if I'm driving a little more casually - still trying to win, but not maximising everything, and also prioritising completely clean driving when close to other cars (which naturally will slow you down), I think it's overall decent to good.

The AI will stick a move up the inside or outside, and doesn't back out as readily as past games. I think Kaz/PD undersold the AI improvements in GT7, it's really much better than GT6 and GT Sport, on both pace (although the previous AI could be fast when PD wanted it to be, in GT7 we need to make that adjustment ourselves with weak boost), and much better racecraft. Not amazing, but better. For me, it's playable without really anything in the way of complaints, once it's set up right.

It still does the fall behind when passed, but I’ve finding it depends on my set up. Some circuits it’s same old brake check behaviour and others I’m thinking it’s been improved. My experiences are regular AI seem improved on newly added circuits.
Again, I’ll add, depending on my set up. Since Reggie uses all aids, it’ll be more composed than SOPHY as SOPHY tries to balance a more unorthodox car I’ve set up to drive.

I was shortening the typing of Regular AI. Since there is “SOPHY” which really isn’t a gender AI, I figured name Regular AI=“Reggie” or some spell it Reggy.

For me the main issue with Reggie is having to downgrade your car (even though you have to rely on rabbits if you use Sophy) and the lack of racing in the mid pack. They can race you but only if it's for top positions. At least this is what my experience tells me.

Sophy has its issues, like the way that one car allways spins in T2 at RedBull Ring, but it's a much better experience. Even with its divebombs which is another of its issues (and probably the most aggravating).
