They brought a set of mission 1h long that u can play once since sfter that u do not earn money 😂😂😂😂
Absolute piss poor choice to stick these races behind missions. One time payout only too. I get that PD loves earning extra cash through microtransactions, but do one time pay missions is just not the way to go. It ruins the game, ruins the experience and ruins incentive to keep progressing.
Collecting and upgrading cars only to use them after decreasing PP to 800 before you can enter, feels much like pleasuring the wife with a flacid PP (pun intended). You get nothing and no fun for both.

The game is advertised as a lush green oasis, but after passing a few doors, you end up in a barren land of nothingness, with a bunch of cars you can't use much.

I'm quite disappointed in GT7, tbh. I can see why players went back to GTS.

It is not the way. I am grinding anyway but doing all the time Sardegna, spa or le mans. Imagine having 30 minutes and 1h race for every circuits in different kind of cars. Just more fun for us. Seriously aaaaaaarghhh! They can adjust everything in a few minutes

I’m also pretty critical of GT7 - and I also think that GTS in its prime was probably better.

Buuuuuuuuut there’s no going back to a game without dynamic time of day and weather.

I also believe the “real” vision for GT7 a will come to fruition in 9 days when PSVR2 hits.

I can’t ****ing wait.

Yep, i agree. No way i go back eheh
Cannot wait for psvr2! It is going to be my first VR experience ever.

Expect your mind to be completely blown.

Can’t wait for everyone’s first impressions here.

It will be glorious.

I seriously have no clue to what i can expect.
I think it is really hard to guess the feeling without experience it before.
Let’s see.

GTSport on PSVR was great to try, but it was very limited - it also made me feel so nauseous that I could barely make it round one lap of Suzuka before breaking out in a cold sweat (literally), and hence PSVR was something of a disappointment for me in general.

However, I reckon with some perserverance, it is possible to overcome the motion sickness that alot of people suffer from using VR headsets - and with increased visual realism due to the new headset and using a wheel rather than a controller, I can only imagine that GT7/PSVR2 will be awesome - though I will very likely not buy it myself.

One of the main things @Jordan noticed was that PSVR2 really didn't seem to cause motion sickness - compared to PSVR and Meta Quest 2. And... well, watch this space.

Well, not this one. This one:

What patronising tone? I am defending your right to have an opinion as much as I will defend my own opinions.

Is GT7 a driving simulator? Well, yes and no. This morning my NSX needed an engine overhaul and body rigidity work to stay as excellent. That has very little to do with driving but a lot to do with the reality of car ownership.

Right now if you wander down to your local Honda dealership and ask to buy a new Civic Type R you might find that he can't sell you one because Honda are only making a limited number of type Rs. That's a pain if you want one, but it adds value to Type Rs of you are lucky enough to get your order in. The GT invitation system isn't that brutal but it does give a sense that you can't simply buy your way to any car you want.
Funny way of defending one's rights to have an opinion, when telling people's opinions are wrong because real life comparison bla bla.
Stop comparing a game with real life. It's just silly to compare broken game features, like invitations, to real life situations.
Ever went to a car dealer to buy a Dallara SF19, a Porsche 919 Hybrid or a bunch of non existing cars? Off the shelve? No invitation needed? Yeah, thought so. Me neither.
The GT invitation system is broken and doesn't give any sense whatsoever. Period!

Tell that to people who want to get the Escudo or the Ford Roadster. It's been half a year since they were last seen in the shops.

But yes, kudos to PD for not spending 9 months modelling a car just to make it so players will never be able to drive it.

You can compare a game mechanic to real life all you like but at the end of the day, the question is does it enrich the player's experience? That's all that matters. And the invites do not. There's some sense in blocking players from accessing certain content from the get go but RNG is the absolute laziest and least satisfying way of doing so.

There's plenty of them being flipped on the second hand market if you really wanted one. You can simply buy your way to any car you want.
Man I already told you it enriches players experience, including mine, it’s not just enriching everyone’s experience (maybe even not the majority’s), but you are not the gold standard. Learn some adjectives.

This whole mess with the invitational cars is why I prioritized them over everything else when starting out. I thought that with the UCD and LCD you can at least rely on all cars reappearing on a regular basis, whereas with invitations you're completely reliant on RNG. So that's where all of my credits went at first. Next I started focusing on the LCD while also swinging by the UCD every now and then when i had a bit of spare cash left over. Apart from the invitational cars, Brand Central has all of its cars available all the time, so those were rock-bottom on my list of priorities. In fact I'm pretty sure that I bought barely anything from there until I was completely done with everything else. And it looks like I made the right call with this priorization.
And you did the right thing.

1. Invitational cars (if you get an invite)
2. LCD cars (if you want the Platinum, the Ferrari 330 P4, Jaguar XJ13 and Ford Mark IV are the priorities)
3. UCD cars
4. Brand Central Cars
5. Cars that you have knowledge you can win in Café Menus/Missions.

This is the way to collect if you don't want to miss anything or have longer, much longer, wait periods of time.
Same with the Chiron. The Veyron is apparently special enough to require an invitation but the Chiron you can just waltz into the shop and buy whenever you please. Both cars IRL were produced in similar numbers and neither are in continuous production as of 2023.

There's no consistency with this system.
Indeed. They introduced a system so bad, with so much negative feedback, that they stopped adding cars that would require an invitation to buy alltogether.

Because literally, the 918 Spyder is as much of a special car as the Carrera GT is.
In fact, it's rarer (918 918 Spyders vs ~ 1300 Carrera GTs) and was even more expensive when new. And it's now a car that has it's value increasing and has turned itself into a collector's item.

The Chiron is pretty much on the same pedestal as the Veyron, if not even higher.

And yet, despite the negative feedback, and them knowing it enough to no longer introduce cars with that mechanic, they still decide to keep the launch invitational cars as they are anyway.

After saying this... I'll be pissed if they add the LFA and lock it behind this stupid mechanic. But I'm 99.9% certain this won't happen. Chiron and 918 Spyder weren't, and you can't get any more "exclusive" than those.
It would look very bad to advertise the 918 and Chiron in trailers and then not let most players buy them.
That really isn't the reason...

Since the same applies to the trailers having the FXX K and the Carrera GT and then when you got the game, they were locked behind the invitational system.
Needless to say, it looked bad as well, especially after knowing it was based on RNG. This also applies to the engine swaps, with Sony/PD showing it in the trailers as this all new feature... to be something that's pretty much unattainable or close to regardless of how much time you sink into this game or how skillful you are.
Expect your mind to be completely blown.

Can’t wait for everyone’s first impressions here.

It will be glorious.
I don't think you'll have that many impressions. Considering the damn thing will cost more than a whole PS5 console.

If the February update is all about PSVR2 and nothing else, then that's yet again another L for 99% of the players who bought this game, since that's precisely the amount, or close to, that's not going to play this game with PSVR2.

But of course, youtubers or e-sports drivers or any other guys from the media are the ones that need the attention and not the 99%.

I wouldn't say it's funny...

I'd say it's outright silly to make the damn comparison in the first place. He's so running out of excuses for the way this has been implemented that it's getting hilarious at this point.

People have already told him a plethora of ways to make those cars special and not easily achievable without having to resort to randomness, but he keeps pressing the same key on the keyboard, that it's not something to be judgeful of this game, when it quite clearly is.

PSVR1 was extremely limited, but at the same time so so powerful.

Driving the car my dad used to drive (some late 80s 911) while listening to the music we used to listen to in his car (Chris Rea) was downright emotional.

PSVR2 and GT7 seem to be that initial vision fulfilled.

For the last few days I’ve been building custom races I want to experience in VR.

First one will be a 4 lap race that transitions from late afternoon into the night in my Toyota 86 gr 4 at Le Mans.

I cannot wait.

I also cannot wait for the impressions in this very forum from people who have never experienced VR before.

We’re all in for a ride boys.

Yeah I get super enriched when a ticket shows me a Ferrari invite but ends up giving me 5k credits instead.

I would get ban again if I describe how enriched I feel not being able to buy the fxxk.

:(

Yeah i still need to decide where is going to my first race in VR and with which car 😨

Open to suggestions! Slow daily car? Super car? Race car? Street circuit? Nurb 24h?

I chose the Toyota because it has a nice interior that really pops at night.

If this is your absolute first time in vr I’d go for something not too fast.

Yeah my first time 😨
I am definitely more hyped if compared to November 2020 waiting ps5 or in 2013 waiting ps4.

Oh, that's rich. One that doesn't agree with some broken game feature being not broken, doesn't understand games at all. Great argumentation!

Agreed. Not even worth replying anymore. 👍

In what way does RNG enrich the experience of collecting cars in a racing game?

Is it the dopamine rush of finally "winning"? But you've not done anything to win. It's just luck of the draw. In a racing game.

Would it not be a more rewarding experience had "special" cars been locked (if they need to be locked at all) behind skill based challenges or other measurable goals to actively work towards instead of a system that forever associates these cars with a roulette wheel?

So I tried the Maggiore One Hour again with my Corvette C7 Gr.3, and I was a little over 12s off from the leader by the time I ended up in fourth. I know this race uses BoP, so I don’t recall being able to change my settings for gearing, downforce, etc. which I think would help a lot. My best lap (still) wasn’t the fastest lap, but it was only off by about two tenths.

I’ve found that even if I stick to RMs and put the fuel map to 1, I still have about a lap or two of fuel left by the time I really feel the need to swap out my wheels. With this in mind, I’m thinking that on my next attempt, I’ll still try to pit after around each of two 20min marks, with me only taking on enough fuel for ten laps each time. (Whereas for today’s attempt, I went until I felt like my tires couldn’t last another lap, refuelled to full capacity, then on the second pitstop, I only refuelled insofar that I actually ran out of fuel just as I crossed the finish.)

Oh, and on my last attempt before today’s, I got a four-star ticket that netted me the Lamborghini engine that can be put into the 25th anniversary edition of the Countach, so that was nice. As for today, I won another four-star ticket, but it only got me 10k credits. Still, I’ll take any bonus credits I can get.

EDIT: You know what I somewhat miss? The stylized "posters" for events, as seen in GT3 and GT4. I understand that given how the campaign in GT7 is structured, it makes a bit more sense for each "poster" to just be some of the permitted machines at the featured venue, but I sometimes wonder which of those "posters" from the PS2 era would make solid posters in real life? Personally, I'm especially fond of the "Race of Red Emblem" poster from GT3. Even GTS' GT League had a somewhat similar stylization for the events. But again, I think that GT7 departed from that stylization because of how the campaign is mostly now separated by venue, not by Beginner/Amateur/Professional/Extreme/Endurance.

Hopefully, we'll get more endurances that aren't necessarily missions, like the 1h of Spa-Francorchamps or the 30mins of Road Atlanta. I also really hope that GT7 keeps in GT tradition in having either a mission or race that makes a reference to the "Like the Wind" event from prior titles, ideally using Gr.1 cars at a speedway, whether it's SSRX, Daytona, Blue Moon Bay, or even Indy if it gets added.

EDIT2: I'm also really, really hoping we get more championships in the campaign, especially if they use some of the later licenses. A Gr.2 championship that requires the IA license would seem obvious, but for the Super License, I'm not so sure. It could involve Gr.1 racers, or one of the formula-styled cars, like the SF19, F1500T-A, or the MP4/4 - though I think the F1500T-A would be the likeliest. Could even be one of the Red Bull cars for all I know.

I already told you why I specifically like this feature (even if it could be made in a better way), so I won’t repeat myself. Is there any way for you to accept that:
A) it could‘ve been implemented better
B) people still like that feature, being aware that it’s not perfect
C) people in general can like things that you don’t like

There is no need to always try to proof that the reason others like something you don’t, is silly (in your eyes at least). So stop being arrogant,
really simple.

And again, even if you‘ve been told multiple times, it’s not just a racing game, even Kaz said it himself.

There's hardly a way the invite system could have been implemented worse.

I like cars. I like driving cars. People who play GT in general tend to also like cars and like driving them. So, I'm a bit confused as to what kind of players like, thanks to RNG, not being able to drive the cars they like in a game that features those cars.

Sure!

Of course, few people responded to the poll compared to the whole player base, but still. Is there any kind of poll somewhere that would confort your asumption that most of the players still like that feature?

Where did I say that most of the players like it? What is this nonsense?

I even wrote this on this, even on the same page here on this topic:

Yeah you are confused, I can see that… this is getting silly. You actively avoid to understand it do you?

1 hour isn’t endurance either, far from it.
Ironic, seeing how most of the endurance events with the exception of the 2-hour races are all just over or under an hour in some cases.

For people bringing up that the invitations are similar to real life not exactly, if you want a Carrera GT, Ferrari Enzo, Bugatti Veyron, Ferrari LaFerrari .etc you can just purchase them if you have the funds. For cars like the Carrera GT, Enzo, Veyron they were available to the first in line to purchase them, you did not need to be chosen for them AFAIK.

Even for the Legendary Dealership, they could have it where the rotation is the same but you pay sourcing fee which is 5% of the total cost of the car + the car cost, similar to using a car sourcing company IRL.

Ex. You want a Escudo, pay $100,000 to have it sourced and be told to come back in 30 real life minutes and the car will be available to purchase for you only, therefore not taking up any slots for someone who does not care for that particular vehicle. The car will take the same position as the Dior Mangusta therefore appearing in a extra slot.

Even though there are no F1 GTRs Longtails for sale at the moment in real life for example, a sourcing company can probably find one that the owner is willing to part with for a very generous amount.

Strategically speaking, is it worth for Sony to make PD put some substantial extra content in the VR2 update to the point it almost feels like a Spec 2.0? Could this new heavy content boost the interest of people to buy the PSVR2 and play GT7 according to them? It would feel lazy as hell if they only put the VR and just some tiny extra content to it. (By tiny content I mean three new cars, no new tracks/layouts, all that usual menu book stuff and a few races.)

There should be effort and skill invovled, not blind luck where one player can win it in thier first week playing and another might never win it. That's just frustrating game mechanics which represent poor game design.
The skill level would have to be very very low to enable all the millions of players to be able to achieve, so it's probably not really worth having any kind of skill requirement at all.

The prizes also aren't truly random, as has been said before they're predetermined most likely from a list, and any large variation can easily be avoided when it's constructed, so it's not really that poor a game design.

Why? Previous games had cars locked behind completing sometimes very difficult challenges that took players a lot of time to pass and it worked. What is your basis for this?

The prizes also aren't truly random, as has been said before they're predetermined most likely from a list, and any large variation can easily be avoided when it's constructed, so it's not really that poor a game design.
It's complete luck what ticket and prize you get. Yes it's predetermined as at the time you win the ticket, but you have no control over the what ticket you win once you reach the higher levels and you have no control over the prize the ticket will award you. It's blind luck, its terrible game design.

Invites should be awarded for winning X number of races with a car of the same make.

Car upgrades should be directly purchased.

This would leave cars and credits as the only things you should get from the lotto.

We get a ticket for 26 miles. Why not another at 50, then 100 and again at 250. Each ticket would one grade better than the one before.

The Enzo was only available to buyers selected by Ferrari, as was the F50 before it - and if you'd bought and flipped an F40 you weren't on the list. In fact that was the reason Ferrari did it: it was only making 399 (and a 400th, for the Pope) and it didn't want the kind of people who flipped an F40 to be on the list.
