Wouldn‘t it be more similar to a Gr. 2 car? Iirc these older DTM vehicles were silhouette cars similar to today‘s GT500 cars from the Super GT.

The class 1 cars (2019-2020 DTM & 2019-2023 Super GT) should be in gt7 gr. 1, they have similar performance metrics like lmp1 cars without hybrid systems and are faster per lap than hypercars (lmh or lmdh) which are in gr. 1 (Toyota GR010) -> the gt7 group system is far from perfect :D

Gr.1 isn't performance based - it's purely "are you a prototype?".

Everything in Gr.2 is a silhouette of a road car (admittedly tenuously in the case of the GT-One since it's the 1999 one, but there still is a road car that it looks like), everything in Gr.1 is full-blown prototype.

Yeah, they must generate crazy amounts of downforce. Apparently the current GT500‘s are several seconds faster at Fuji than LMP1 cars.

If nothing else, the revelations of the Corvette and Opel/Vauxhall VGTs for GT7 show that there is still some life left in GT7. I still feel next year will be the last for updates, but at least there have been some pleasant surprises lately.

But the Evija's already got 2,000bhp, so to move forward, an electric Lotus VGT would either need to be extremely, traditionally light, or believable EV sled weight and 3,000bhp.

If the CX.R is a 2,000(+?)bhp hybrid, wouldn't that be too much for Gr.1? It'd either need a huge power reduction from BoP (and therefore ruin un-BoPed Gr.1 events) or, my guess, a separate Gr.1 variant like the Tomahawk, McUltimate and Mazda. I know the Genesis somehow fits Gr.1, though, hmm...

Speaking of additional variants, I think the Vauxhall VGT and Opel VGT will come in the same update, so we can buy them both. This is the same game that gave us two Italdesign Exeneos (with invisible crystal sphere interior) to buy, with the only difference being the suspension. It's that or they pull the PAL GT2 trick where the dealership you see depends on your language, and you can switch it to buy both.

Some of the Gr. 2's in the game (the 2016 GT500's) even have a higher PP than some GTP/C-style Gr. 1 cars.

The CX.R does make 900hp..

Just from that tiny V8, the hybrid system adds about 1100hp on top of that. :sly:

I can see a possible Gr1 variant with either a heavily detuned set up or the hybrid system removed completely to make it easier to balance for Gr1.

Do we know anything about HRC eMS GT Fastest Attack for this year? Last year's qualifiers was in August (though 2023's were in September).

If there were no concerns about whether the game is figuratively "dead" or not, It wouldn't even be mentioned.
The hope for new circuits is almost certainly dead at this point. I really hope I'm proven wrong on that though.
Overall I'd say the game isn't dead. It's just old.

The hopium is strong with me mate.

All I see is talk of cars, cars, cars, when I'm so far beyond tired of asking for tracks, tracks, tracks.

I'm very-confident we'll see at least 2 before GT8. Just wish to God the first one will drop soon. Not PD-soon, but soon.

This was already the case with RC F GT500 - it was replaced by LC500 in 2017/2018.
 
unfortunately, now, I think that we are going to see the next GT game announcement just during the PS6 showcase in June 2027 and not before like I was thinking until a few months ago

Anyone remember this familiar startup sound in GT5 and GT6?
I might not be the first one because I'm tooooo late, but I've figured out that the sound is from Peugeot's A32 engine, which was also used by the Pescarolo Courage C60 '03 in the past games.

If it's true that it's also used by the 208 T16 Pikes Peak, it means it's in this VGT, too.

This is why I think PD are kind of wise to not get on the treadmill of always bringing out the newest race cars as they come out.

Their process is just not set up for that sort of fast reaction, and once they set the fanbase expectation to expect that repetition, they can't unset that expectation. Whereas now I think everyone gets its a "wait until GT8 for a refresh" deal, even the people who really want GT3s/LMHs aren't expecting them to show up as silhouettes at this point.

About the Toyota/Lexus part: the same Sportscar365 article mentioned the possiblity of the Supra having one more season to run before the model change happens.
It had been suggested that the GR Supra would be retired at the end of the year, likely in favor of a new model based on the future Toyota/Lexus GT3 car, but it now appears more likely that the Supra will be given a one-year extension.
