I thought we would have seen 30 cars after GT Sport, but doubt we’ll see that many cars on track in a future GT game. PD shouldn’t have teased that with the Mission in GT Sport.

I stopped counting the cars I have to leave behind in custom races. Just going to a 24 cars grid would make a huge difference.
 
I maybe a bit behind in things but since PD is liking EV cars maybe this one could be possible...AMG GT-XX

The AMG GT XX's all-wheel-drive powertrain consists of three electric motors, with two in the rear and one in the front. These motors use a power-dense axial-flux design, as opposed to the more typical radial-flux motors found in most EVs. Total output sits at 1341 horsepower, which tops the most powerful Porsche Taycan, the 1019-hp Turbo GT. AMG isn't yet making claims about 60-mph acceleration but does project a top speed of 223 mph.

didn't the Sierra Time Rally in GT6 also had more than 16 cars on track?

I suspect in GT6 that they had a clever trick where cars you passed disappeared after a certain distance and cars appeared when you got within a distance of them (making it appear as if there where more cars on track then there actually were). Wouldn't be surprised if a similar trick was used for that Mission in GT Sport.

From the Gran Turismo website, it only shows 12. Thought there were more.

@RACECAR The Mission showed all 30 cars. I forgot the member here, but they backed up the field to get all 30 on track. Plus, the map showed all 30 cars on track.

Thread 'The mission to take a 30 car photo in GT Sport'

I decided to try and get some 30 car screenshots using Mission Challenge 6-8 in GT Sport. This is the only event in the game with a 30 car grid.

The challenge here is the AI starts very spread out which means you deliberately need to block them to bunch them up together.

This is made harder because the AI cars both weigh 50 tonnes and have a tendency to ignore the fact that you exist, occasionally driving straight through you.

Here is a 10 minute edited video showing some of the hardships I went through trying to get this to happen, its cut down from 3 hours of footage :lol...

I completely forgot about that thread. Unsure why they don't do fields that big in 7, they pulled it off on the PS4 so surely doing so on PS5 would be posssible surely

I think it's very possible on PS5, and we'll see bigger grids in the next game.

I don't think it was consistently possible on PS4 even in Sport, it being locked to one specific static race tells me that race has a lot of custom stuff going on in the background to make it work. And that's before you take into account the extra overheads of the weather and time systems in this game. So I think it's a PS4 limitation.

Yeah this cought my attention as well.
But with 2000 bhp it seems to be op for gr2
Group 1 is more likely.

I think the CX EV road car is the one with 2000hp.
The CX.R VGT race car is a V8/EV hybrid, presumably with less HP to better fit a racing category.

Accroding to many on this forum everybody criticize update with visions, shops, suvs, another version of already in game cars is not true fan ;d

I am not the last person to criticize, and I also believe a lot of fans criticize. And you criticize all the more you are a deceived fan. If you don't care, you don't loose time criticizing.
 
While not yet confirmed, I’m glad we’re getting another GR.2 car with the CX.R.

Oh you think because of the new Spa race? Have not thought of that! Interesting.
 
Note that it's WTC 900, and not a Gr.2 specific race. The CX.R perhaps sits at around the 900pp mark while still not being Gr.2.
Assuming that event is for that car, and not just a random addition for the cars we already have.
I would be VERY surprised if the CX.R ended up being in Gr.2. If it gets grouped at all it would be Gr.1, but the active aero would prevent even that.

I know, we got one several updates back. They added a 2026 one. Just saw the trailer featured in the article. It blew my mind. The Corvette VGT was smoking hot. And attractive.
