I mean, the additional events have already been announced, so...I wonder what events they'll add. It's always a roll of the dice.

I know, is not a red and blue situation but there is a pattern where those more focused on thr competitive side use to be more vocal about their dislike with the updatesNah there are plenty of long-term GT fans that have their frustrations with the current game situation.
I do wonder what game each of the World Tour drivers first started with though. I think Kaz commented that he was surprised to see them playing the older games in their spare time, so that's perhaps an indication.
Not a World Tour driver myself, or even a Sport Mode player, but I still have a list of things I wish GT would do (which I won't list here). I've been playing since GT3 on the PS2.
A Q not followed by a U is ordinarily pronounced as a K in English. Qashqai (which is the name of an indigenous and traditionally nomadic people living in Iran) is therefore pronounced "Kash Kai".Polyphony have added cars with strange names, especially with the Nissan Q... (can't pronounce that, so I'll call it the Nissan B-Komachi)
Like I said, fake GT.e-sport gt fan
I'd say the worst parts of the racing game community are the ones who call others fakeLike I said, fake GT.
Sport was a social experiment focused on introducing the absolute worst elements of the racing game community to the GT franchise, and unfortunately it seems like it's worked. Which is why the entire back half of GT7's life cycle has seemingly been trying to backpedal on that.
Japanese 4WD series. The prototype already in the game is surprisingly good. What the hell are we supposed to do with the Afeela? race it against the Tesla? FFS.... a single freaking championship would've been welcome, but no, FFFF all of the userbase with the same old crap. Unbelievable.
Whoa whoa there cowboy!Like I said, fake GT.

I don't know. Sport is my first actual GT game. And yet, I don't have the urge to tell everyone on Twitter how much I'm seething at every update that doesn't have a new GT3 machine. Heck, if I was born much earlier, and had the chance to play the older titles when they were recent, I'd sure as hell wouldn't develop a superiority complex over anything that isn't a GT3 machine.Like I said, fake GT.

Then you aren't part of the problem, and I'm pleased to hear it!I don't know. Sport is my first actual GT game. (On a side note: I don't get some users comparing GT7 with a sim that has the cars they desire. I mean, what's the point of sulking on something GT7 doesn't have currently, when they could literally just play the game they've been comparing it with? I couldn't care less if they complain that game has bugs or what not. If they wanted to drive those cars so badly like their life depends on it, then bare with whatever bugs come in their way and hope for a patch to fix it up for a month or two.)
I wonder what events they'll add. It's always a roll of the dice. It will most likely include one of the 4 new cars, I notice a pattern in each update. That's how I can make a theory and predict what will happen.

I guess that's fair. I mean, sometimes I do look over the internet just to see the reactions, but I suppose your initial comment made me snap a bit. Nothing too personal was taken.A lot of people have seemingly taken personal offense to my comment when it's not about them. It's about the bell-ends who spam every GT-related post whining about the lack of new race cars, as if that's ever been close to GT's primary focus.
Oh for sure, I absolutely don't mind something like the modern GT500 cars or the Super Formulas - I could absolutely see those becoming future GT icons if they leant a bit more into using them.I guess that's fair. But, race cars do have a prominent place in the series. The first GT had a line-up of race cars on the start menu, why do we think of the Castrol TOM's Supra, or the GT-R LM Road Car when the first game gets mentioned? It just seems like past 2020, the allure of sim racing has exploded (with myself being hooked in it to some degree) and gives others the impression that it has to be "that" or nothing.
I agree, I mean PD isn't going to do what they demand. They do these updates for their fans, not just the immature folks that want this and that, and new tracks also. It's crazy if you ask me personally. PD will get to what they can, I mean there's already over 500 cars in the game. Shouldn't that be enough to occupy everyone? Not to mention the scapes, liveries and other modes of the game. Then you aren't part of the problem, and I'm pleased to hear it!

Yes it's true.I read on the GT Wiki that BoP is biased towards newer racing models, which I could sort of see making sense. So for example, the Lexus RCF GT3 Prototype is supposedly biased to be the inferior option compared to the properly-homologated RCF GT3. Is this true?
If it really is true, wouldn't this mean that between the quartet of Ford Gr.3 racers, the Ford GT LM '17 would be the best option? What about historic racers that are relatively unique, even within the same manufacturer, such as the Nissan Skyline Super Silhouette, or the Nissan Skyline GT-R GT500 from the JGTC? Are those two always going to be inferior compared to the Nissan GT-R GT3 '18, since it's the latest Nissan Gr.3 racer?
I'll be honest in that I don't really have a good handle on the current BoP, but historically this has been true for everyone except Ford (the Spec II RC has been good at top speed races like Daytona) and sometimes Subaru (they don't know what to do with the BRZ's natural tyre advantage, so they sometimes kill it enough that the WRX is better).I read on the GT Wiki that BoP is biased towards newer racing models, which I could sort of see making sense. I don't believe there's anything official, other than that development on the next game starts as soon as the current game is launched, which would imply GT8 has been worked on for about 3.5 years at this point.Forgive me for being slow on this but what is the official story on GT8? Has PD started development? Any official press releases? Or are we all just speculating?
So if thats the case, GT7 was developed for 4 years, 4 months. And considering no covid delays, it may be closer than we thinkI don't believe there's anything official, other than that development on the next game starts as soon as the current game is launched, which would imply GT8 has been worked on for about 3.5 years at this point.
(GT7 launched in March 2022)
The main reasons people assume it's close to being announced I think are due to the chronic slowdown in new circuit content, and that the Spec II update was nearly 2 years ago.
(Spec II launched in November 2023)
That's kinda crazy to think about. Spec II was closer to GT7's launch, than we are to Spec II currently.
There is none. Much of what's said about it is people believing that, because the updates might not be to their taste, GT8 must be in development and PD must be saving up the good content that they want (somehow knowing precisely what the good content that they want is) for it.Forgive me for being slow on this but what is the official story on GT8?
Agreed. Good points. However what exactly would be holidays, christmas? If thats the case i dont see it taking that long. There is none. It's largely a 50:50 mix of hopium and copium and rather misses two important details: that Yamauchi has said they avoid doing that now (this is rationalised away by highlighting other things Yamauchi has said that have either not come to pass or have subsequently changed); and the last time there was a new game in the groove and on its way, PD stopped updating the old one and the content saved up for the new game arrived in very roughly the same quantity it would have been had they just kept updating the old one monthly...
In practical terms, the next Gran Turismo game would have been in planning before GT7 launched. We don't know how advanced a state it would be, but I would suggest that, after three and a half years, it's likely to be fleshed-out in concept and may even have running pre-alpha versions, or something playable far from the final form. I'd also say it's likely that the next GT won't be radically different in terms of development than Sport/7, so it should be pretty rapid to finish off.
However, as previously noted, GT7 is still seeing decent player engagement from what we can see in public (Daily Races, Time Trials) and it's hovering around the top 20 PS5 sales - breaking into them when discounted. The bosses at PlayStation Studios/SIE will probably not want to pour money into a new game when the old one is still doing relatively well and not green-light it for final development.
Not only that, there may well be considerations over a PS6 version of the game. We know next-to nothing about the PS6, but it's likely that if it's on the slab for "Holiday" 2027 there should be dev kits for first-party studios like PD already. The way that the timings are lining up, I wouldn't be surprised if we see GTNext launch as a PS5/6 cross-gen with the PS6 launch - though no full GT game has launched with a PlayStation to date, so I also wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't.
As a fun data point, though we keep mentioning the lack of new tracks in our update articles and videos, and I think have done for six months now, GT7 is actually almost the best we've ever had it for cars per track (both locations and variations). Only GT Sport and GT5 Prologue were better, and 7 has the second-most locations (just behind GT6) and most variations of any title in the series.
