If anyone was curious, that advert from years ago where the seller said their Avantime had been scanned by PD, the car is the wrong engine/trim and has the wheel on the opposite side to the in-game model.

The scan also included the registration plate (which is never included for production road cars), and if I recall correctly the software in which it was displayed was also wrong.

That aside, PD would never supply (and has never supplied) in-process scans to owners, to my knowledge. They used to get a complete in-game model picture on a certificate of some kind, until one guy (with a Ruf, I think; as I recall it was GT2/GT3 era) posted his before the game came out and I think it stopped at that point.

AFEELA Prototype 2024
AFEELA 1 Signature '26

The Prototype only has a LiDAR on the roof, and the AFEELA 1 also has image sensors on both sides.
The headlights are a little bit wider on the AFEELA 1.

versus 😅😅

That's his opinion, which he's entitled to have.

In my opinion... it is a bit unprofessional when some of these GTWS competitors use their public socials to criticise PD/GT in this way.

Firstly because levelling criticism at at PD/GT online is functionally pointless (unless the game is actually broken). GT existed before most of the GTWS competitors were born, and for the most part, Kaz's 'vision' and the underlying principles of the game (including the oddities) have remained fairly constant even if the methods and execution have changed. This involves off-beat non-racing cars at a time where there are now at least half a dozen good GT3/LMP racing sims out there. Being unique is in my opinion not a bad thing, and to me it is clear that there isn't going to be a major pivot on the game and franchise's overall vision.

Also, for the most part, whatever public profile most GTWS competitors have is because PD have given them a platform via GTWS. These cost a lot of money to host, on top of PD paying for all of the expenses for every competitor in each of these international trips... and some of them have racked up double digits of them. This is something that is not afforded to tens of millions of GT players over the past 28 years. In most other industries you'd get at least reprimanded for this type of public criticism of an employer or body that is (still) sending you on plenty of free international trips.

There are other avenues of feedback and criticism that are available. But IMO it is a bit pointless to criticise PD with the expectation that the overall franchise vision is going to change.

The CX.R is quite disappointing in terms of usability. I tried it on the new Spa event and after just 3 laps the battery becomes empty and the car has no power.
I think pit stops should recharge such cars batteries to make them any good.
The CX.R has a TC engine? Why is it running on battery alone?
The CX is strictly EV I know but the CX.R is hybrid and should be powered by ICE an Battery? Yes?

The CX.R is indeed a hybrid with a 2.0L twin turbo V8 and three electric motors. Apparently its electric motors seem to be louder than the combustion engine itself.

It does not recharge like the EV's do. Hence the issue everyone is having with it.
It does recharge, but only under braking and not with major energy regen either.

Some hybrid setups also recharge when off power & coasting, but as you mentioned the CX.R doesn’t which does limit its hybrid boost duration.

It can be drained in less than one lap at the Ring, it ran out for me at the Audi Sport Gantry, but it’s still capable of 200+mph without the hybrid boost and put down a 5:24 on an okay’ish lap. :)

Is everyone enjoying the new update? I haven't read all the posts yet.

I would say is the typical 2025 update: Not a gamechanger but far better than the doom post when Kaz post the silhouettes with a car that makes you say "why?", in this case the afeela

I realize all that. I was mostly referring to while in the pits.

Isn't the CX.R a regular hybrid? Does it not recharge?
The car didn't have enough fuel for 5 laps on fm6 and I just found it slow for its hp.
And I can't drop its pp down for sardegna, or at least I didn’t find a way yet.

Maybe you need to adjust your driving to it? You know, how LMH drivers coast before braking. Then again, if it only recharges during actual braking it might not be beneficial...

Outside of fuel saving, It’d be pointless to lift & coast with the CX.R if the hybrid doesn’t recharge from coasting, if it did I’d absolutely agree with you on including lift and coasting. 👍

I tried to DM you a zip, but a folder with 500+ car pictures is pretty big...
Thanks for trying ! If you want to try again, you can use Google Drive, WeTransfer, you'll get a shareable link :)

So now we're a little ways removed from the update, I think this is a fair topic for discussion at this point:

What do you all think is happening with the track team that has meant there's been one single new track in the 20 months of 2024-25? Before that, their pace seemed to be roughly 2 a year (Daytona and the three originals in 2020-21, Watkins and Road Atlanta in '22, Grand Valley and Lake Louise in '23).

I think at this point most of the team (and the work) is going into the next installment, but there will still be one more track for GT7.

I don't see GT8 (or whatever it's called) before 2028.

So there's plenty of time in between.

One more track by the end of the year, perhaps, announced at the GTWS finals.

I see four possibilities :

1 - They are working on a very long / complex track.
2 - They are working on a city track.
3 - They're keeping the new tracks aside to bulk up the starting content of GT8.
4 - Polyphony Digital is going into bankruptcy and GT7 is their last game (Unlikely, the company appears to be healthy and Kaz is everywhere).

They are saving it for the next one. Easy as that.

Given what we currently know about scrapped content in previous GT games (like the longer version of London, the HD version of Seattle, SSRX Infield, and GT Arena Stunt Area), PD has a history of putting what seems like most of the work required to bring something into their game, only to run into hurdles, be it external like licensing or internal like the track being unsatisfactory or causing problems.

This is all speculation, of course, but maybe whatever the track team had been working on the past several months had to be scrapped for one reason or another. Just tossing another possibility out there. That, or, you know, Pikes Peak in both tarmac and gravel versions with full 24h cycle with variable weather takes a long time to implement, and the physics team is hard at work trying to simulate air density's effect on cars as they climb 🤣

Like everyone else I also think it's possible they started to keep the tracks for the next game. They might still be releasing cars when they are ready, but tracks take them much more time, and maybe they don't think it's a good idea to release next game with like one new track. Another possibility (but of a similiar idea): let's say usually they always had the whole track team work on one track, finish it, then move to the next one. But now they separated the team, which previously spent like a year on one track, and now that team works on 3 tracks at the same time, which means they will finish in 3 years. That would mean the team works at usual pace, but there's simply nothing to release cuz nothing is ready, and they just decided to have 3 tracks ready for the next game instead of releasing one more each year for GT7.

There also was that one guy on Reddit who works on that track team, and one piece of information we got from him is how PS4 actually limits what they can do in terms of tracks for GT7, which I think is a good argument to back up the "new tracks go to the next game" theory. PS4 limits can be a good reason for PD to start making tracks for "GT8" instead of spending more time making tracks for GT7.
They can be working on something big like Pikes Peak, but I feel like that is the kind of track which would definitely be impacted by said PS4 limits.
