Nothing of much interest or imagination in the race schedule for the finals. Nurb 24 Hrs for both qualifying and final in the Manufacturers Cup. X2019 and the Porsche 962C for the Nations Cup at Red Bull Ring and Monza.
So they aren't going to be using the Opel VGT at all then

The Michelin physics were so good, the revert absolutely killed the feel of the game for me.
In hindsight, do we think that revert was because Michelin wouldn't let them keep using their data after the partnership ended?

Would make it even more baffling that they implemented the Michelin stuff so late in the day if it turned out that way.

Possible? If the inclusion of them in-game was a hail mary type approach to keep the sponsorship ongoing then I could see it going down that way.

With PD it's just as possible it took them that long for no good reason, so it's hard to say.
 
@Nakano219 @Nebuc72 whatever the reason, let's hope they've learned from it. Outwardly, that seemed like one of PD's biggest blunders to me.

This also makes me wonder if tyre companies approach PD or vice versa, or a bit of both, and how this new deal came about.
 
I find it difficult to believe that Michelin somehow has a form of copyright over a previous physics model, to the extent that the end of the partnership forced Polyphony to stop using them.

Frankly I think it was just a naming rights / sponsorship deal, and Polyphony having access to Michelin's database.
That shouldn't mean the physics built using that database can no longer be used. It just means they don't have access to the database itself anymore, to use for future updates and refinements of the already existing physics model.

Now it looks like they'll be using Dunlop's database instead to build on the existing physics, so in a way the tyres we use in-game will be Michelin-Dunlop hybrids lol

I wanted to hope the (supposed) Dunlop partnership would mean updated tyre stickers since the one that is currently available in the livery editor is very outdated (the same as the ones on the '08 Epson NSX GT500, the most up-to-date version is the one found on the BRZ GT300), but the promo picture of the 962s suggest otherwise...Ah well, it is what it is...

Also, isn't the Michelin-PD partnership thing done from the early days of GT7? As in, Michelin giving their data to PD since the beginning, then in 1.49 they get the more up-to-date version (plus the tyre texture update), and then they pull out, leaving PD with what they have so far? How does this whole thing work again? :confused:
 
Online is the death of the GT mode of old. Never mind that online racing is a minority event.
PD haven't fundamentally done anything new with online since 2018. It's not the problem with GT.

Ultimately GT7 is unfocused slop and that what made GT elite or industry leading as far as gameplay in 1998 to mask its shortcomings then doesn't mask its shortcomings in 2025.

Fine if people like a sandbox, but there really is no reason why they cannot have something for everyone, to a much higher standard than what they are putting out. No other game does so little with so much.

If they pulled one staff member modelling some useless SUV for six months and replaced them with one staff member whose job it was to completely reimagine GT mode complete with proper rewards and progression instead of some lame cafe conversations then literally no-one would be complaining.
