Considering it's a game, I'm confused why CVT cars are arbitrarily locked out of upgrades.

It's making the addition of CVT crossovers highly wasteful when a manual crossover like the 2008 turned out to be a good car with some upgrades.

The Peugeot and Mazda are my favorite crossovers so far. They are fun with the right tune.

I do wonder how much the manufacturer dictates what upgrades are permitted. Wouldn't want to show how fun the car could be? :D

I'd imagine that the transmission is tied to the car's attributes in some manner (I do wonder if it's due to gear change animations; do they lock out "dude shifts an H-pattern" from a CVT, PRNDL, or flappyflap?) rather than decoupled as we now see with the engine.

After that you're faced with the issue that ramming in tons of power on a car with a CVT without getting rid (unless you could also adjust the CVT somewhat) would be a largely pointless endeavour.

All I’ll say is… I hope and pray that the next game has a lot better live service and updates because if I say what I want to say I’ll get in pretty big trouble here..
Why? As long as what you say sticks within the bounds of the GTPlanet AUP, there's no reason you'd "get in pretty big trouble".

Some people just don't know that much about certain cars.
I'm a trained mechanic, and certified petrol head. I could list every Skyline variant that has ever existed, off of the top of my head. I'm not sure what point you're trying to make here?

CX-30 is pretty slick as well.

Well, if we don’t get updated Suzuka signage by now, we’ll probably never see it in this game. Such a minor detail, but major for player immersion to have an aesthetic connection to the real circuit.

Anyway, hoping the RS is a manual. Honda made a point to make the manual available. Would be a shame to have such a good car with the CVT.

Would love to have the Gunsei Touge course added too.

If it IS the Z-tune. I'm still thinking it might be a Mines... but I digress. Even then, it has the same RB26DETT (bored out to 2.8), and the same chassis. The current R34 is VERY easy to get those numbers out of, and also currently has one of the best engine swaps in the game. It just seems a bit superfluous, really.
Even if performance-wise it might look pointless, usually the variants/trims have different customization to set them apart, see both integras, evo 8/9, r32 and the nismo version all have an actual different widebody and bumpers, so who knows, maybe this one can end up looking like this after a trip to gtauto:

Some "variants" are warranted. If anything the Z tune has more purpose for being in the game than a base model R34.
That's a stretch and a half. If anything the base model is more inline with GT historically.

Look, I'm not against the Z-Tune existing. Hell, I'd love one IRL. I'm sure I'll find some enjoyment with it in GT7, even. In terms of it's inclusion in GT7, it just seems superfluous. The model we have now (which isn't the base model, BTW) can be tuned to match the Z-Tune specs pretty accurately as is. So, unless there are some wildly different tuning/modification options, it's just not adding much to the game. The only thing saving it (potentially) is a unique engine swap, or any unique tuning options (I'm not holding my breath) that set it apart. Maybe a unique engine note that isn't rev locked like so many of the vehicle are.

This is certainly my hope. Yet that doesn't exactly make it a worthwhile addition. It would be easier to just add new customization options to the existing R34 (not that PD ever have, up till this point).

Might as well take out all of the GT3/GT4 cars from the game too since they are modified versions of the base street cars.

Well, the normal R33 and 400R have different visual mods. Might be the same with the Z-Tune R34.

They are wildly different (especially Group 3) than their road going counterparts, and usually include things like racing fuel cells (making them more suitable for races with fuel/tire wear). Hardly a cogent example.

Pretty rough update. Whatever. It’s free. I’m happy.

I firmly believe we’re close to the end of GT7, I’m still getting “we’re done here” vibes.

Bold (and baseless prediction): no update in August, regular update in September with an announcement that updates will become “modest in frequency and volume.” Indicating that they are full steam ahead for the next one.

i feel amazing how N-One racing has around 10 years, it was even featured by James May of all people, but people seems to nto notice them at all

for me, the N-One is a literal test if the person really likes JDM or just like Fast and Furious and drifting videos on internet

I do not really care if a car has been featured by James May. I am just saying that i would have preferred a different Honda model. Doesnt matter to me if it has any racing history or not.

There are other cars PD has added that do not have any significant racing background. Or cars that are missing which (in my opinion) are highly important part of automobile history/car culture.

At the end of the day it is a matter of personal taste. Some people like the N-One, some only want Gr3 Cars, etc.😀

Pretty sure their esports stuff will keep going strong.
Which also needs some updates because it's getting stale. Seems like it's the same thing over and over with little to no change.

Restricting the number of repeat participants would be a good start.

I do totally agree with you on this part

What i meant on the post is that people keep asking for racing cars or cars that actually are used on racing
and when a car that its part of one of most common races in Japan at moment, they still complain

Some of these recent selections have been absolutely terrible. Why would we want an old Benz truck or a Kangoo? Maybe some, but wouldn't a Buick GNX or the Cadilac Cien concept like the one in GT6 be better? Or almost anything else? Really?

I guess you are being sarcastic? Or what is it that you expect that would come?
I was hoping for something a bit more special, like the '98 Miata, or one of the more tempting cars from the datamine list, like an M5.
I’m fine with new SUVs being added too, but at the very least, I want the option for engine swaps.
The Skyline is great, no doubt, but I can’t seriously consider it the headline car of this update.
If they at least brought Sophy to all the Tokyo Expressway layouts, I’d already be satisfied.
But adding a car when a similar version is already in the game doesn’t seem strong enough to carry the face of an entire update.
the only thing they're likely dropping anytime soon is support for this game.
They’re probably keeping some of the most wanted cars for GT8, even though I doubt it’s coming anytime soon.
and people are complaining
In Gt1,Gt2,Gt3,Gt4 they used to take "some" time to add a few extra textures, give it more horsepower, etc. Now it’s clearly a different process. At least give me a different car, then when they do an update with more than three cars they put it there... this update like this seems a bit sad.. As for the kei car, I’m actually pretty happy about it, and I’d be fine with the SUV too.. if only we could swap the engine...

Part of the ethos of GT now - as exemplified by the "museum" sections introduced in Sport - is as a tool to educate about car culture and the history of the automobile. The Unimog is a pretty significant vehicle in Europe, and the Kangoo (as explained at the time) is wildly popular in Japan and the subject of one of the country's biggest single-model annual gatherings.

Also both are a hoot to drive.
