TBH I have played GT7 longer than I played any other titles except maybe GT1 & GT2. There are a lot of things that I don't like but the things I enjoy in the game out weigh those bad things. Personally I don't care when GT8 is coming out or what cars it will have in it. I can do that when they officially announce it. For right now I try to find enjoyment in what I have before me. I get there's a lot not to like about this game. The secret sauce of GT has been it allows you to create your own fun. That's what most of us are doing now. Look at the custom race thread or weekly challenge thread. Okay rant over. Still looking forward to the update hopefully they have some good engine swaps

Lots of interesting posts in this topic.

Yes for most people the update with 3 new cars is not enough.
Personally i have been on and off GT7 many times. Now i'm back on the game and enjoying engine swapping cars i like and race them.
I really hope they keep the customization and engine swapping in GT8.

The reason why people keep playing GT7 (saw someone asking here why people keep playing GT7) is just gameplay and physics wise. The older game were so much better career wise, but the gameplay in GT7 is unmatched in any GT game.

When will GT8 releases? I wouldn't be surprised if we get a GT concept game before GT8 or an update (demo?) in My first GT. That is if they want to release GT8 at the same time with PS6. PD knowing this could well be the case. I don't see PS6 coming before 2028.

GT7 is a very good game but for me personally is definitely not the best in the GT franchise. GT3/4/5 were much better in my opinion.

I just hope for GT8 that there is a much bigger career to play with many leagues and quirkie races. Also let us restart the damn career PD!! Hopefully they keep Sophy in GT8 or use their AI as race opponents.

It's clear that they can improve on so much things for GT8. Cars, tracks, career, online.

If by "back then" you mean in previous Gran Turismo games, then I'm with you :D

But in GT7 we can't even restart the game to use these new cars in career mode as starters because Cafe forces us to use specific models and ruins any sense of progression. That's the real tragedy. Also I can't imagine unlocking all basic features (like selling cars) again by grinding through all menus.
I've played through the game 9 times, on various alternate PSN accounts since its release. I've probably played GT7 more than any other GT title, and honestly, I find it quite stupid that I have to create alternate accounts just to replay the game and try things slightly different. I also really do not like the fact that prize cars are a one-and-done deal and can't be earned again. You'd think they would have allowed us to restart the menu book career and do it all over again on the same account while still allowing us access to our engine swaps and car selling once we get to level 50 and complete book 39 the very first time. I get the impression that they seemingly don't want us to replay the game again.

You all talking like it's cashguy for a fact, eventhough some youtubers are guessing it'd be some kind of Yaris.
There's a good reason for both of those things, but either way it's a Qashqai - and a third-generation one at that.

From that image alone I couldn't tell you if it's pre- or post-facelift (the primary visual change is at the front end and that's obscured by shade), nor obviously whether it's a regular 140hp/160hp petrol or the e-Power (190hp EV, with a 155hp petrol generator), or the trim level.

I get where you're coming from but I honestly think if any game requires you to create your own fun, the developers have failed at making an enganging game.
I agree with you, though personally I do make the exception on that for sandbox games. And I mean proper sandboxes (ala Cities Skylines or The Sims) and not games like GTA which people often misclassify.

About time too really - I see them everywhere

I personally welcome all updates since it add more content. Also I prefer the normal cars they add, since whenever I play the game freely, I 99.9%of the time use the normal cars and never the racing cars.

Also, I am excited for GT8, but honestly, I kind of not want them to release it until PS6 since I hate the PS5 controller and literally play the PS4 version of GT7 on my PS5.

I'm hoping PS6 has a revised controller and GT8 would be the system seller for me.

We deserve to have newer race cars
they just added a racing car this update lol

Also adding so many "starter cars" so late in game's lifecycle is just stup... not very wise
to be fair, i prefer play witth the "slower" cars than the "fast" GT3 in any game
i am sure i am not the only one on this one

There's definitely a chance, it's just not an especially large one.
Well, finger crossed!! Since i think we all agree that is highly likely that they are going to skip August and the next update will be in September after the live event.

I’m keeping my expectations low, and hoping for Daytona and a few more cars to be Sophy-compatible this month, although I’ll probably be disappointed in the end. However, I am looking forward to buying a few R34’s

I also like slow cars in games (especially classic models), in GT7 they're just rubbish to drive in my opinion and I see little purpose for them in this game's design :)

You can pair the PS4 controller to the PS5 and use it though...
Unfortunately, the DS4 just stops working when a PS5 game is launched. A notice pops up that says something to the effect of: "Cannot use a PS4 controller to play PS5 games", and the DS4 from that point on only works as a home button and earphone jack. Unless I'm missing something?

It is possible however, to play PS5 games on a DS4 controller over remote play.

Maybe you need to play the PS4 game to get it to work with the DS4 controller? Not a good option i think.

I agree. For the sake of the minority that play online, PD limited the game for the majority.

Yes, not only that, but with the requirement for online connectivity they've made a monster of a headache for the potential future modding scene, as well as for general future archiving purposes and also future player base(s) as PD have proven they can de-list a game at will and prevent new players from purchasing it as they had done with GT Sport. They've also proven with GT Sport that they can gut a game of features and use the excuses in the vein of it not working without online or that they can't figure out a way for it to work offline. There was really no need for them to remove access to GT Sports livery editor and with some effort they could have redesigned the internal game mechanics to use local saves for liveries, but nah, why do that when they need to push the latest product?

It's honestly a very sad rabbit hole they've put themselves into, and it's going to be a rather bit of a headache for someone in say 2040 to revisit GT7 without resorting to questionable means of doing so.

Brutally honest with this line here, but if PD insist on making GT8 forced-online then they've lost me as a customer. I am very much displeased with their handling of GT Sport, and already very much hate the fact they've not only limited the replay factor of GT7, but also that I can't even play or use the very product I paid for if my internet goes out. To me that seems a very anti-user business model and should be illegal. Of course, it's not (at least not where I live) but feels as if it should be anyway.
