It's certainly not a point and grip heavy EV like so many EVs in this game, that's what caught so many off guard.
But damn it's so fun and addictive to fighting keeping it planted and keep its weight transfer under control.
Makes that Chevrolet Corvette CX Concept feels tamed in comparison.
You certainly can't say this thing is boring, my journey to that 6:49 lap at Nordschleife last night was very fun I spent all night wrestling around with it.
Don't you dare treat it like that Porsche GT3 R or else it will kill you faster than its 0-60 time, you have to be precise and smooth with it.

Exciting I can get behind, it is a challenging drive.

I haven't quite dialed in a good suspension setup as a race car yet, it still snap-oversteers even with racing tires. I figured out the driving though: start to brake earlier than you think you need to, arrive at the corner at the perfect speed (the car understeers heavily if you are even a bit too fast). Then just coast through the corner without touching any pedals. If you even think about the accelerator at this point, the car will either understeer straight off the track or oversteer and spin out. Once you're through the corner and you're opening up the steering, carefully feed the throttle back in.

It is certainly the fastest EV saloon in the game, but in my opinion the worst to drive. Most exciting yes, but if you're just trying to be fast without crashing, exciting isn't what you need.

The Xiaomi is hardly "terrible" to drive, in standard form, when you have cars like the Chiron and Mission X that feel truly terrible to drive without any tuning or better tires. The SU7 only feels terrible if you aren't using Sport Softs or better.

Maybe players haven't realized that around 75% of the Xiaomi's power comes from the rear motors alone...

The SU7 isn't amazing to drive or anything, but it's definitely a step up from the Ioniq 5 or Polestar.

Those cars feel like freight trains where you can really feel the momentum from their speed+weight, and braking especially feels like a suggestion they kind of consider listening to rather than a command they obey. The SU7 doesn't do that - you still have to brake earlier than a lighter car, for sure, but it at least consistently feels like you are braking and the car is slowing down, which other EVs sometimes don't.

PD are definitely flexing their cloth shader tech (if that's the right term?) with the new update teasers and I love it lol
It was colonel mustard all along!!!

The Xiaomi's fine for me. I've driven it stock and maxed out and I like it. But hey, I also liked the Polestar.
What I don't get is why many ppl seem to like the Hyundai. This is the one that feels awful to drive IMO.

I'm reading comments about that Chinese car, it's hard to agree when you don't know if you're talking about the car as standard or as tuned and upgraded. In standard form, that's an absolutely terrible car to drive.

Newton's first law First Law: (Law of Inertia): An object at rest stays at rest, and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction, unless acted upon by an unbalanced external force.

The SU7 has mass and will go fast and no matter what tyres you have on it will want to understeer under power, take your foot off the accelerator and brake and coast through the turn.

Yes the SU7 has tonnes of Hp, and even with TC set to 5 I still get wheelspin, you cannot just stomp on pedal and go if you have the slightest loss of traction under the rear tyres you will spin them and possibly yourself...

Three things I have discovered about the SU7.
A) very low rolling resistance. You can coast for miles as your speed will drain off slowly as you coast.
B) incredible power especially at the rear tyres. You break traction at rear easy and if you apply power you will soon be facing different direction...
C) brake earlier that you think.

That car accelerates just by looking at the throttle pedal 😅

I finally had time to properly try out the new update's content this weekend and I really like it so far!

Concerning the cars I absolutely love the new GT3R, it's a lot of fun to drive and very nimble while also feeling very planted and neutral at the same time. Same with the Hyundai. I was actually pleasently surprised by the Xiaomi since it's more agile than I would have thought but at the end of the day it's still a heavy EV with ridiculous power that feels like a boat to drive in tight corners.

But my favorite thing besides the Porsche is the addition of the new 10 lap GT3 race at Mount Panorama. Just in time for the Bathurst 12h two weeks from now! Very solid update all things considered and I love that we are finally getting new GT3 cars from PD. Fingers crossed for the Z06 GT3.R and the M4 GT3 next.

Very much agree - great update at the GT3R is absolutely essential - I also hope that the M4 GT3 is coming too, as that would pretty much complete things for a super-realistic GT3 grid.

The SU7 is a bit of a mixed bag for me - very quick with the Overtake button, but I don't think I've ever gone wider on a corner than I did on my first try with it at the Nurb GP circuit. Put it this way, it brought back memories of exploring the infield looking for somewhere to get my lunch 😅

Er. Longgggg way to go for a super-realistic up to date GT3 grid, unfortunately.

Well TIL the Xiaomi has an overtake button. 😂 I‘m assuming it‘s like the overboost function from the Super Formula cars and you activate it with R3?

Yes, true - that said, I think the GT3 grid is already excellent, but the M4 for me would be the priority, not least because it has been so successful of late.

I have zero complaints though ever since the 296 GT3 landed - that was certainly the biggest outlier in the grid for me, so I can live without further upgrades for now... oh, except maybe for an update to the Spa circuit itself!

I have enjoyed the SU7. I have only driven it at Laguna Seca and I learned very quickly two things brake early and don't mash the gas coming out of a curve. It doesn't feel like it is 5000lbs to me. It feels responsive to me. While driving it I finally realized why these EV hypercars have so much hp. It takes a huge amount of HP to move all of the massive weight around. Anyway I need to try the other cars out and hopefully I get some time today

I like how our driver looks like he barely clears the dash in the GT3R during replays.

So the picture for this new race shows the Xiaomi, but even with SH tires, 70% power and maximum ballast I can't get the car below 600PP.
Am I overlooking something? Did PD overlook something? Or are we seriously supposed to drive this car on comfort tires here?🤔
I ran this race for the first time yesterday. There is actually a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in this race (yeah, I'm a bit dense at times). It starts in 1st position and blitzes everything else on the straights. It is on sport soft tires, I checked the replay.

There is no way to get this car under 600 PP on sports soft tires even if you add maximum weight and reduce the power to a minimum. No way. So I am entering this race with a 600 PP-max car 30 seconds behind a car that is allowed to have much more than 600 PP? What?

I don't get what you guys are on about with the Xiaomi. I did various races yesterday and I found it a terrible drive. Very slidey and scrapy and very prone to uncontrollable oversteer out of slower corners despite 4WD.
This car is basically useless except for being fast in a straight line. In stock form, you have to brake really early, and you have to be on edge the whole time through corners, terrified it’s gonna step out mid-bend.

I think that’s similar to how they have an AI car that’s over the PP in some of the races. When the E36 was added, one or a couple races have it as an A.I. car amongst cars that have a standard PP lower than the E36. Maybe PD have just said, “Chew on that for trying to beat the Regular AI with over powered cars, for the past 28 years.”.

The Xiaomi has probably double the weight and three times the power of a Ferrari F40.

For what it is, i don't find the drive awful or the breaking distance terrible.

But... you don't have to like what it is.

Here are my 2 cent:
911 GT3 R - The R is less forgiving than the RSR, which was easier to drive. One little mistake in the R and you're history (had that several times in the new Bathurst race). But if you get it right, the R is/feels faster, not only in the top speed. The R sounds better than the RSR.

Elantra - i don't like it, yes it sounds quite nice, but to drive - if i ever needed a reminder not to buy a frontwheel driven car again - here it is! Probably one of the worst racing cars in GT7!

The phone - well, electric or not, a car with such a crazy amaount of power combined with the weight of a tank ... 🤔
Yes it accelerates very fast, but that is just one side of the medal, because you have to slow it down and that's where the trouble begins and it may end when the road isn't straight anymore!🙃
Tires these days aren't made for such tanks! If you drive that thing fast IRL, your rubber dealer will be your new best friend!
Racing that thing is a symphony of tire squealing.

I feel better reading your comments (and others), I was under the impression that I forgot how to drive with one week out of the rig and coming back for the update using the new Porscher at BH 😅

Yesterday I did the new World Touring Car 600 race with a fully upgraded Honda N-ONE RS and did some top-tier trolling where it was a David and Goliath situation - trying to defeat a Xiaomi SU7 Ultra with it, where my N-ONE RS has ten times less power but weighs probably a third of the SU7 Ultra's weight.

It felt like an over-the-top MF Ghost race but with tons of plot armor, but I still have no idea how the "grip to weight ratio" works.

Yeah, I did the same and watched the replay. SS tires and I doubt he has less power, so it's pretty much a stock SU7 Ultra in a 600PP race.
Now I found a post a reddit, claiming you can get the Xiamo under 600 on SH if you play around with downforce, but IMO it's still pointless.

Spent some time with the update over the weekend.

Thoughts:

The Xiaomi is pretty terrible to drive. Even soft racing tires can’t make this thing develop grip.
It feels extremely heavy. Don’t like it - nice interior in VR, though.

The Hyundai sounds great, looks great, but feels a bit weird? My wheel gets super light when accelerating on corner exit. Maybe it’s an accurate representation of the car, but to me it feels off.

The Porsche is absolutely great - not much else to say, other than maybe that I prefer the interior of the old one in VR. Same with the Ferrari from the last update, by the way.

EDIT: Oh yeah - the rear view mirrors of the Porsche are broken in VR.

It's funny to see there are really two groups of people: the Xiaomi is "terrible" or "great" to drive.
I am a member of the latter. Yes, it's heavy but at low speed the motors really help to rotate the car and overcome that problem. Other thing is, of course you have to brake earlier but don't forget, you probably also go way faster then usual. For example you exit nearly 300 km/h the tunnel in this week's Deep Forest race. Braking at the 200m mark at that speed and this weight isn't terrible in my opinion.
I also find the mid and high speed cornering quite okay. All of this opinion is based on the stock car.
I am no expert but personally, I enjoy this way more than any other electric one in the game.
