oh, i agree on what you said but you missinterpreted my post a bit I said: Another thing, don´t you all enjoy the sound of a V8 when in low rpm accelerating??? Even in GT it´s a plessure... think about it...
that means accelerating out of a low range rpm in a high gear! not flattin out.
but yeah they also should implement a proper automatic shifting, say the softer you pull the gas pedal the earlier it shifts, just for cars that come with automatic of course...for realness sake

You all know the opening screen after the demo?

sometimes appears some strange all white city with white buildings and roads, and the mechanic guy from GT Auto driving a CRZ along with other cars going both ways, taking turns at a crossroad and driving over some kind of highway bridge???

Just showed up to me, strangest thing they drive on the right hand side... Thats not Japanese at all!

But this might be a little demo of the free roam add we are talking about...?

What do you guys think?

Took the Chevelle for a spin, 6 laps Route X

First 3laps on full throttle: 9 gallons

the other 3 laps doing 90mph: 3.5 gallons!

No need for PD to change anything here

lol, yep I got spare time!

..Just put in 3 of my votes for this:

More than anything, the reason why I'd want this is to have a big playground to play around with GT's physics. More specifically, I've always wanted to feel what it's really like to drive within a city or suburbs without really worrying about speed limits. All my life, I've played Gran Turismo and always had the dream to push my real life car to the limit. Games like Midnight Club and Test Drive got the right concept, but their physics are just total fantasy.

I'm not even asking for shops, houses, or even traffic... which are things that free roam naturally aims for in a driving game. I'm not against it either, but for me GT is really about the driving experience, "possibly" even more so than "racing." Having free roam would expand that driving experience to greater heights. Racing wise in free roam is very easy to grasp if you look at examples from the Midnight Club series. That game has proven that a city can be a racing playground as much as a track can.

If Forza Horizon ends up being an open world game, I'm so getting my hands on it.

This was the only reason I would play Test Drive Unlimited, because of seeing other online players around the world in the same "world" as me, cruising around throughout the lovely scenery just made the game have something unique about it.

This in Gran Turismo 5 I would love...

Some cars need to reach a certain speed before getting the peak mpg.

oh ok, do you know some more about how the consumption is calculated in Gran Turismo 5?

You mean something like if I´d do say 120mph I could end up with the 9gls? Same as when I went on full speed?

Kaz stated he wanted players to obey traffic laws in free roam, might not be what you want to see, just saying, don´t wanna scare you out. Who knows if it really comes one day they probably found a solution to make everybody happy, let us pray

Free-roam would be a very interesting innovation for the Gt series, but I just can't see it happening. After all it takes PD nearly two years to model one premium track, how long would it take them to create a large scale, complex open enviroment, presumably with traffic, pedestrians, working streetlights etc?
If they took this approach I'd worry that we wouldn't see Gt6 for a very, very long time.

I would love free-roam but like you said it would take long, i just wish GT would have at least one touge track like Forza.

Whoever it was that prompted me about MCLA, thank you very much, I popped back in my complete edition disc today and loved the customisation and photo opportunities.
Unsurprisingly the vehicle physics and behavior is fairly annoying, I reckon if the Gran Turismo included a free-roam combined with its vehicle range and physics, I think it would be a great combination. (Assuming we get a livery editor in GT6)

And I was like...

If only Kaz had hired the staff from Genki. If it's even possible anymore. :( They could have been so much help with the drifting roads and city areas like Special Stage Route City and tuning parts, like in TXR Import Tuner.

Awww, cute little heart on top of an Evo. ^^^

:D 👍

Thanks, it keeps in line with my custom member title :).

One pure reason I didn't buy TDU or TDU2 was because, like a number of studios there's an abundance of U.S. model vehicles featured and thesedays I'm really quite bored of seeing U.S. cars (I design English cars ;)), the fact that PD don't pay more attention than is necessary to U.S. vehicles is the sole reason why I love the Gran Turismo series the most overall.

If they were to add a good free-roam in then I reckon PD could be making, (at least for me) a perfect game :)

If PD doesnt pay more attention than necessary to US cars the CTS-V and Boss Mustang are still missed out, how can that be?

Vauxhall/Opel´s VXR/OPC missing out European Ford´s like Capri, Escort and Mondeo ST,
Australians all along, the E30 M3,

I dont even understand why there are no Kia and Daewoo/Chevys, I dont want to start with the supercars because i dont really care about them, or very few I´m interested in, but even if I dont like those ariel atoms and what not, They should be in the game

So they are not paying attention to a lot of car manufacturers no matter where they come from even japanese, wheres a S12 Silvia? biggest rival of the AE86 at that time?

Not complaining nor bitchin, just saying that I just don´t get it, they gave away that big plus to the other developer

Only PD will be able to justify their selection of cars, I think they've done an alright job with vehicle selection.
Yes, it's not perfect and yes there are cars I would have liked to see in the game, but while there are a lot more Right-Hand Drive cars than left, whereas other studios would have RHD cars where they have no other option.

If they were to combine the car selection with the ability to freeroam and take photos, meet other drivers, or just inspect our cars within that free-roam, I don't think I'd look for another game :).

hmm yeah well... if i wasnt such a huge GM fan I could get over it easily i guess, been trying to reach Opel responsibles but ...ugh... free roam is great too :)

Maybe to make the free-roam more rewarding for those who use it online, they could leave hidden items in a few areas of the map each day.

Items could be things such as special paints, credit packages or maybe on Christmas day even a special car :).

Done right, it would work. Taking Test Drive Unlimited 2 as an example, that had hundreds of miles of roads, a good selection of cars, with a livery editor. If GT Roam had this, plus the attention to detail that GT games normally get, while dropping the attention to detail that isn't needed (B-Spec etc) it would be a winner.

Yes. I'd love this idea. A TDU with GT physics would be immense. Literally the best game ever. Driving winding country roads in sunshine or the rain with some friends, weaving through traffic, etc.

If this Forza Horizon is what I'm hoping it will be, I will definitely be joining the other side...Bye bye GT (bye bye to every other game I own).

I was playing Need For Speed World today while the scenery was ok, I thought to myself how much better a game I could be playing if it was a free-roam in a better "world" with the cars and physics that Gran Turismo games feature. I think PD could be onto a winning game mode if they were to include it.

I'd fully support this idea only if it doesn't turn into online bumper cars :D

This sort of problem will be encountered in any game with more than one car in an online environment.

The solution would be to use the current host controls to ensure that each free-roam session is being used in the manner that was intended (dirty drivers get kicked from clean rooms etc. )

I read a rumor last year about this being called C-Spec, that was the next step in the franchise and couldn't be added in GT5 because of PD not having enough time, like the idea, hope is in GT6 :D

I love this idea just for the point of being able to meet with you're friends, crew, team-mates... , cruise, and my favorite street race. Street racing would be a great to take a time off of the same circuit tracks

Do you really want GT6 to come out in the year 2034.

I have thought about it myself. But it's just not possible to do this at the level PD would want.

It took them like 7 years to make an unfinished game that they are still trying to complete

You just get your friends to hop on the track in free run..
But this is GT5 not GTA5

GTA and Gran Turismo are in two totally different worlds.

no, when you post a thread like this, flames are inevitable.
I only looked in here to see the flames. I'm a bit disappointed.
Try these.

Also, please disconnect your router and don't ever switch it on again. Thanks.

Fail much? ;)

I just had a look through the drifting thread and saw quite a few teams that wanted touge events.
If we were to be given an island with a hillside there could be maybe a special marker that would initiate touge races or hillside drift battles :).

Cruising a mountain road on a sunny day. 16 mates in different coloured VW Sambabuses. Dreamy :dopey:

I'd be down, the topic of the hillside just made me think about something more substantial in terms of a free-roam and the island which it could take place on.

This is fairly obvious, but different elements of driving would be covered by different environemts in the island.

High speed runs & drag racing would take place on the motorways (sorry I'm English).
Drift battles, touge races, hillclimbs, or just high-altitude roadtrips would take place in the hills.
Street racing, short drag races and drifting can be done in the city.
Rallying, off-roading or just plain gymkhana messing-around can be carried out in the coastal areas.

Basically the imagination I have here is of a place that could provide almost all types of drivers with something they would enjoy. The island would be a good place to visit because it would be able to cater to most types of drivers :).
