TDU with GT physics=The holy grail of gaming.

So many endless hours of options and driving joy.

P.S. An open world would make the photo feature so much more rewarding.

THIS. X 1.000.000...

I've been playing TDU2 a lot in these terrible waiting for news days in GT5... and that's what's so special in it... amazing, free roam. It make you forget the bad physics and all that's bad. Just... drive.

That would be the key to success herethe ability to roam freely, but with tha car list and physics that the Gran Turismo series brings to the table.

Remember to vote please people. The link is in the OP.

New idea; seasonal patches, for example adding snow up in the mountains when christmas comes, easter eggs at Easter time or fireworks at Diwali or New Years eve/ day.

This raises another issue would time stay in line with the real world time of the host, or be be a fixed period?

While it's an idea that's worth considering, I think freeroam would take way to many resources, and GT series currently has a lot more important problems to fix. Polyphony is a relatively small studio, and we've seen in GT5 what happens when you try to do too much in one game.

But we'll see in the next few years, i think..

I think if Polyhony Digital decided to listen to customers a bit more during the research, development and testing processes of making Gran Turismo 6 they may get it right this time.

I don't think anybody asked for the rim selection to be heavily reduced, or for the horrible paint chip system.

I am however hopeful if the release is 2015 or later, that PD should be able to create a good title for the PS4, given that the console should have better hardware and software integrated, PD should be able to maximise the strengths of their next title.

I'm up for that idea. It'll gives enough time to gather up some ideas. 👍

I would like to see GT go in the exact opposite direction: Forget the poseur pretending and develop the functionality. It takes a lot of time, effort and luck to get a decent run of races online.

Driving on a track is one thing, but what are some real life roads, or places I wish had roads running through them, that I would LOOOOOVE to drive on? You know. Wake up early on a beautiful sunrise. Go to the garage and fire up "that car" your wife (for those of you who are married) doesn't think the family needs, and head off to those canyon roads, or back roads snaking through the woods, or that strip along the beach, or those gorgeous mountain passes.

You all know what I'm talking about??? THAT road you've always wanted to run. Or THAT place you WISH had a windy road going through it.

These thoughts actually started for me while I was playing NFS the Run. There was this one road going through a nation park here in the US. I was in a Ford Mustang GT500 just pushing it through those canyons and behind a water fall. I got to thinking, besides the fact that the games physics really suck, that this would be an AWESOME road to run in GT. There were some other roads like the plains states with the thunderstorms in the distance, the industrial areas that had at least 3 miles of "drift please" all OVER it, and the twisty roads through N. Virginia's Skyline Drive in the fall. The latter Top Gear (the original) went there and stated it has got to be one of the greatest roads they have ever seen and never got to flog due to the stupidity of the speed limits (avg. speed limit on that road through the mountains is 35mph).

But you get my point (I hope). I hope and wish PD fosters this into GT6. Having great tracks is one thing, but never forget that one of the greatest automotive enthusiasts' passions is just getting out on that road and DRIVING. No clock, no competition, no worries, no cares. Just you, the road, and the scenery. Nailing those perfect rev matches, hitting the right gear on those sweepers, the engine noise, the tire squeal, the rock pings hitting the under side and rockers, the heart beating in your throat ... and for those of you married, the cell phone constantly ringing with "the wife" ring tone wondering where you're at.

El Capitan was the closest track to this, IMHO, in the whole GT series. Forza has some good ones (Maple something, Burnese Alps, Fukaido (not sure on spelling), etc.) and NFS had some of the best fictional roads.

All in all, I just really wish GT captures this.

... at least give me that road in Romania (I think it was) that the Top Gear crew went to. James "BROUGHT THE RIGHT CAR!!!!!!!"

Chime if you know what I'm talking about.

This sort of mentality could easily be accounted for if a free-roam were to be included. The fact that people do drive for pleasure could be accounted for if beautiful
scenery is featured on the island I have in mind.

:(

Due to recent misconception I have updated the OP, sadly people still think we're aiming for street racing :(.

I think free roam could be fantastic. If they could team up with a games developer that had a lot of experience with making maps. Something like Eden Games (TDU2 developers) doing the map and maybe traffic AI, PD do everything else (cars, physics, engine sounds, some modelling) and in theory you'd have the perfect free roam racing game.

EDIT: And about street racing. I think you should be able to, but in an entirely open environment. You could cruise to a twisty mountain pass with your friends and say 'OK, why don't we race down this road? First one to the junction marked on the map wins.' but it shouldn't be an environment which you can only access through selecting various closed courses set in the map, or by racing. It should be an entirely open environment, with no boundaries, no speed limits and no defined routes, only where you want to go, via what road you want to go on, at what speed you want to go at.

There has got to be restrictions, however, otherwise this would end up in chaos. The one enjoying their rides just couldn't because of 'racers' keep crashing into them. And the racrs would be fed off of the sunday drivers in there ways. Like this you could aswell implement some Nico Belic's including their armery, turning this game into a GTA but with better physics, just sayin, not disrespecting your opinion, but without restrictions it won't be GT, and PD wouldnt want that. We'll see how 'Horizon' will be, however.

By 'no restrictions' I didn't mean being able to climb out of your car and kill everyone within a mile with your RPG GTA-style, but IMO it'd be a boring experience if you were physically limited to a certain speed. We already have rammers in races, and they'd have even less effect in this game mode, because instead of getting massively 🤬 because you are now last, you just drive back onto the road and carry on.

Between PD and Eden, neither games can produce realistic engine sounds.

Without trying to bash another game whilst explaining a point, take a look at the arcade style games with free-roam, such as NFSU2, GTA4, and TDU2. The reckless driving between the players will ruin the game. But then again, nobody (probably except for me) will actually want to drive while obeying the laws, because it's a video game.

I think it'd be cool if there was a feature where if your car was crashed, then it's gone, forever, and you'd have to pay almost all of the Credits you have to the guy who you had an accident with. This will promote [insert opposite of reckless here] driving.

I'm trying to come up of a way to get Wangan into this, but how? Hmmm...

Edit: We need some desert roads. :p Again, perfect for dragsters.

Hot pursuit had a pretty awesome island that ranged from desert to forest to coastal roads and snowy mountains, something similar would be awesome

According to Wiki, Hot Pursuit only had 100 miles of open road, where as TDU2 has 1864 miles of open road. Not to mention that the roads in HP seems to be more geared for street racing, and not driving around town.

How many miles of road wasn't the point it was the different areas you would encounter

It'd be pretty hard squeezing Wangan, the Stelvio Pass, mountain roads, etc. into an area less than 100 miles big. Besides, it would get very boring afterwards.

That's still not what I was talking about I was referring to the different areas available I never said it had to be within 100 miles

A free roam mode in the Gran Turismo series I'm not too sure about, but I can see how this would benefit people who like Touge and Wangan since you can make-up custom routes.

Does anyone remember how Burnout Paradise made their map?
Paradise_City_Map_(with_Island).jpg

^ In Burnout. There wasn't different types of areas being shown on the map, not like NFS HP though. I actually like it.

NFS HP 2010's map seems pretty small. :p
nfshp_map.jpg

But NFS HP however, did have those areas, but only four existed in it, there wasn't any city area at all.

I was unable to find TDU2's map. But did find out it was huge. O.O

I say the idea for GT's map should be similar to Burnout's and TDU2's map. I like NFS HP's map a lot, buuuuut I think the other two's map are better imo. :)

Man, I used to love playing that game. The free roam map was nice and big, especially if you had access to the island.

So did I, I've played this all day long when I first got my PS3 for X-Mas. And the fact the routes were name after the old Burnout games track names made it even more exciting. :D

No, what I was trying to say these 2 types of players must have a chance to be on their own. Seperated.

Like what you said, cruisin up a hill with a friend and decide to do a 1 on 1 race downhill, it would still be possible if you could leave the room with speed limits and go to another room without limits, for example.

Just like the lobbies we have now, simply beeing able to choose you either want 400PP or 700PP, in the free-roam idea choose traffic-law restricted rooms or none restricted areas.

I think it´s not just you who enjoys a true nice cruising now and then, ;)

If I had a lot of money to buy any car I like and the gas it uses, I wouldn´t care about this Idea, but im not rich, thats why I´d love to cruise in an expensive car or even none expensive one ´that I never got to drive in RL

I'll like to see PD and Eden team up, but how would that work? :\

When Eden goes broke? I read in another thread that PD hired staff from Enthusia dev. Don´t know the source he reffered to but it might be true!
