Pedestrians or not, shouldn´t be the main focus of a freeroam mode, I would apreciate it but it´s not important.

What´s important imo is that it works offline; ^^ i agree. With AI traffic, but this AI must be a really good one. It must behave very natural and "intelligent", as far as its possible.

So I could live with a freeroam w/out pedestrians, but not without AI traffic. Cruising around in a Ghost-Town I can do that on the Tokyo and Route 5/7 Tracks already

I agree. I really wouldn't want to do without AI traffic. It's a necessity for me. I'd simply like nothing better than to be able to drive/cruise with my friends with Forza/GT physics in an open world with realistic AI traffic.

Anything after that, is a bonus. (day/night, weather, offroad.....all accepted with open arms :))

The good news is that Kaz's competitors are listening at least. I'm very excited for this Forza Horizon. Going to get a 360 and a Fanatec for this one! (could mean bad news for the PS3-4 and GT5-6)

No, that sounds like the worst idea ever. PD took 5 years to make GT5 and now you want them to add an entire extra game to it? You're basically talking about something like Midnight Club: Los Angeles, except with a rule against racing (just like there are supposedly rules against making online races into demolition derbies), and then what? You park your cars and stand around like it's PlayStation Home except with cars? Or drive around in traffic like I do every morning before work and every afternoon after work? Um, that's not fun, it's boring.

No, that just sound like something PD would spend 5 years making and about 50 people would ever use it more than once.

Sounds definate now you say that.

Quality over quantity. By that I mean Gran Turismo is gonna have to tone down on its quality and visuals and go 720p if they want to do a free roam with traffic and a load of other features and keep it at 60fps as much as possible. Looking at the Forza horizon footage, it looks like there is traffic, but it seems there is sacrifice to how many actual players can drive at the same time. We have to be realistic on what we want here. Do we want free roam to be more about racing with your friends, or dodging through traffic? Perhaps it can be like Midnight Club where traffic online is much more scarce than offline.

Also how can you compare Route 7 to an actual open, free-roam city?

I want free roam TOO.

We can have it all. Really. It's just a map... If they can make a "course generator" they can make a free roam map.

Major Gran Turismo fan here. But Forza Horizon idea is great. Don't know if splitting it in 2 games was, but the whole concept is great.

Where did the whole "drive in traffic and obey traffic laws" thing come from

It looks like some people need to have a good read of the OP again

What's not really talked about is Turn 10 partnering with other developers to make that possible. I'm now questioning myself if I really want PD to partner with another developer to get more help or perhaps reaching out for a different perspective. Kaz wants a lot of things in his game, which we saw in Tourist Trophy and his talk on free roam. Can he pull it off with his current team and put it all into one game?

I think they must open PD to the world. Pretty much like Hideo Kojima did.

I still think Kazunori is a brilliant man. But PD need to open their minds. Stay close to the main roots of them, but be open to new ideas and new minds.

Right now I'm pretty sure they need some new blood. I hope that as they are recruiting more people, I really hope they get some international professionals.

It came from kaz stating he wanted a free roam where traffic laws were obeyed and you could drive your cars but imagine trying to do that in a x2011

It seems you get what I'm saying. Kojima being open to Platinum games is another great example of Turn 10's collaboration with Playground games. With an idea as big as Free-Roam, I just think they're gonna have to reach out to sources other than their own. I'm not saying they can't do it on their own, but there's nothing wrong with collaborating or getting external help.

With the help of Playground games, Turn 10 is able to release an exciting new take to the Forza franchise with Forza horizon, while keeping their roots with Forza in Forza 5. As for Kojima and the help of Platinum games, the MGS franchise has a new take and vision with Vengeance while Kojima will certainly keep the main MGS games stick to their roots.

Then again, I don't know if I really want Gran Turismo to separate into different parts. I've always wanted everything to be in one Gran Turismo game, but I'm now questioning if that's really possible.

I can almost imagine it. A guy driving and x2011 gets pulled over:

"Sir, do you know how fast you were going?"

"Uhh, 50?"

"Try 350"

Well then, people need to read the OP, as the thread title suggests because the idea my group has is not the same as the idea Kaz has then...

GT5 is a RACING game for RACING, if you want to cruise around jump in your corsa and head for your local high street.

I think I just watched an old trailer for Need for Speed Most Wanted.. but someone named it Forza Horizon? No forza hate, just uh.. pretty sure that's what I just saw.

So then surely PD can come up with a better alternative, not as a separate title though.

What about we have to drive from one circuit to another?
Let's say you're racing in monza and you want to go to the nurb.
You would have then to drive up to Germany on the autobahn or there should be an alternative secondary road :).
On tracks in different continents you should get to drive from the airport to the track.
If you don't want to waste time just press x ;)
P.S I know it's crazy

Believe me, I like the idea, the only reason I'm less confident in it is because it would take a lot of modelling and development. :(

It is possible...Possible.
Probable? Not really.

TDU always felt rushed to me, the repeated textures and landmarks plus the simple terrain building and physics really held it back. However, it still took several years to make.

Whilst I doubt it would beat GT5's development cycle, it would take several years to get GT world up to PD's high standards, let alone the community's stratospheric expectations.
We can dream though, Kaz has stated he wanted to do something around a free-roam concept...

I think Forza Horizon will be a hit title. From what I´ve seen so far it´s very interesting. Like a TDU with good physics.

But the whole presentation where players are animated to drive the fastest they can, unrealisticly cutting corners and the annoying score´s for things like close passings, make it appear to me to be just another Arcade nonsense for kids.

I´d bet that if I buy this game, I´ll be going to try to play online only once, then never again.

Anyway, the fact that this game is soon to be released tells me that it´s just a matter of time for PD to come up with something likely. And it´s going to be less Arcady. And thats a good thing.

I want to be able to say one day: Thanks Turn10 for horizon, now there´s "GT Horizon"

Just taking one idea from Forza Horizon, a similar game for the GT franchise (or a mode/event for GT6, whatever, would be to do the "Gran Tour" event with roads/free roam between the events.

I think PD could even have tought about this. Gran Tour is a great idea, poorly implemented.

I´d say they HAVE thought about this. It´s pretty obvious since there is the Gran Tour and there is the Toscana Theme in Course Maker. Is where I totally agree... poorly implemented. But maybe it´s best now for T10 to make the start. In a perfect world PD would now have to hire new staff or cooporate with another dev. to win this new Cola War... The ConsoleRacingSim War

E: Oh, And it could be the finnishing move to EA´s NFS franchise?
